Re: Oscar Clavarino
We should be able to stash him on the rookie list for another two years, unless the league put some stipulations on those players being dumped onto the rookie list at the end of last year. If he was still on the senior list, I'd say he'd be very little chance of getting another contract. The fact he...

Re: Kingy Ya Killing Me!
Agree with this. Making him kick 300 shots at training won't do anything. Even if he kicks 250 of them, the little man on his shoulder will resurface any time he has a shot in game. This is where the club psychologist earns their money.

Re: The decision to pick McCartin.
McCartin had injury problems in his last year of junior. I don't remember if it was concussion or other issues, but he was definitely injured. He missed three of the six games at the U18 Champs and who knows what else, since he was one of these kids who missed a lot of what was then the TAC Cup to p...

Re: 33 points down and we win by 20. You cannot be serious
+35 at ground level had a lot to do with the win. I can't remember the last time we dominated the ground like that. The top 5 ground ball winners were all from our side - Steele 13; Billings 10; Crouch 10; Jones 10; Bytel 9. The Eagles best had 7. It's a lot easier for guys like Butler and Hill to h...

We've still got a couple of mid-season draft picks, don't we? If this season turns into 2018 revisited, those could end up being pretty handy.

If the player kicks it from the square it's considered a team stat. If the player runs out of the square, they get a disposal.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Sat 27 Mar 2021 10:32pmI have never found out whether the kick-ins just go to team stats, like cricket leg-byes

Highmore might have been injured anyway. Either that, or he was benched, since his TOG wound up on 70%. He was barely sighted, if at all, in the last.

Re: Round 1 team guess - post injuries
I'm confused by the confusion over Carlisle. We dropped him during the season last year. He was supposedly shopped around with no takers and brought back on a one-year deal. We talked Frawley out of retirement and then drafted Highmore. We clearly do not have confidence in Carlisle as a best-22 play...

I wonder if Ben Keays' commitment to defence can make up for losing the 17 contested possesions and 7 clearances Crouch had that game.

Re: Team for Round 1
Here's what I'm expecting: Key defence will be Howard and Wilkie with either Carlisle or Highmore. Coffield rolling off to intercept. Webster does Webster things. Long takes most dangerous small. Clark, Ross and Sinclair rotate through defence/mid. Hill and Billings on the wing. Sinclair probably sp...

Re: Ben Long
Long led the team in intercept possessions per game and led all our defenders in contested possessions per game and defensive half pressure acts. If anything, he's not getting enough outside ball. It would be nice to see him bring more run and carry to the attack. Still, given the areas he's doing w...

Re: SENs St Kilda 22
Leaving Ross out is weird. Ross started in the centre most of last year. He started with Crouch and Steele against North. My guess is that either Clark or Higgins will start with Seb and Steele round 1. I don't see why Hannebery or Jones would be ahead of him in the pecking order either. I get that ...

Re: Sort of News
Judging by training photos from last week, it looks like we're training in something resembling positional groups. Potential changes, based on what I can see in the photos: Billings is training with the smaller defenders. Geary is also in that group. Clark isn't. Wilkie is also there, which might be...

Re: Excitement surrounding Max King
On the height - they measure the kids at the draft combine and Max was reported at the time as having measured at 203.7 cm. I'm not sure the clubs take particular care to make sure the numbers listed on their sites are current and accurate. In terms of marking - he finished equal 7th in the league i...

Re: Seb Ross v Luke Dunstan
Seb's a starting mid. When we get the first centre bounce next year, Ross is probably there. Dunstan is probably at Sandringham. He's a depth mid, at this stage, who may have played his last game for the club. It's awfully charitable to say that injuries prevented Dunstan from cementing a spot. He t...

... and Jack Higgins has been spotted training in No. 30 ... Higgins was drinking out of a water bottle with the number 22 on it. The 30 jumper also was a 2020 training jumper as opposed to one of the new New Balance ones. So, probably an Ed Phillips jumper fit him better than most of the other ISC...

Re: Two articles from saints.com worth a look
Have we had jumper numbers confirmed? It's definitely Crouch in number 5 in this video and looks a lot like Frawley wearing 24. I don't think we get a look at McKernan's back. Other Saints are wearing their normal numbers on the back.
Not sure anybody else cares, but thought I'd share, just in case.

Re: Matthew McLeod-Allison
I am not sure I understand your logic here. In this context, what I mean by 'bottom-ager' is a player playing under-18s in the year they turn 17. The point I was trying to make was that you'd have expected Allison to feature more in a hypothetical 2020 Calder season and, hence, improve on the numbe...
