I hope he is delisted. You can argue that he's kicked one per game or whatever for however many games - but what else does he do? He kicked 2 great goals last week but he contributed nothing else. No fwd pressure, no hardness at the footy, no consistency in his game whatsoever. he had 8 possessions ...

Playing injured. No take-off speed. Laboured all night but toughed it out. Yep he definitely looked injured. He was virtually out on his feet in the 2nd qtr. Its hard to rate his performance last night. He got a lot of the ball but butchered it a lot (like a lot of our players). On the other hand h...

Every year this board wants a small forward with great skills and no engine and a giant ruckman who can't play. We also needed a ruckman for the future a lot more than a flashy forward pocket. It was the right pick.[/quote] Totally agree. We have much bigger needs than a flashy forward. We need more...

Yeah good post SR. I often wonder how much more highly Roo would be regarded or how many more goals he would kick if we had players that could kick to his leads properly! Interestingly - I look at the stats this morning and according to champion data Collingwood had 1 more clanger than we did (52 to...

Unfortunately we are not saintsrising at the moment though. Add the out of form players like Gilbert (last night was a slight improvement on his current form).. Kosi.. I just don't know what's wrong with him. He just lopes after opponents. I hardly ever see him run hard. He looks barely interested....

Who was the last good player that we have recruited? (Not being a No. 1 or 2 pick). Off the top of my head....Sam Fisher. He was taken at No.55 i believe and that was 4 years or so back  . Correct me if I'm wrong. I thought McEvoy was a good pick...you have to give him time because ruckmen a...

I agree that we need to emulate Geelong's willingness to play on and run to support each other more. However, we actually did do this (or try to) in the second half last night with mixed results. Firstly, when we tried to play this more *attacking* style our skill-level couldn't back it up. When you...

But ou No 1 problem is our porr kicking/delivery. I agree. There were some terrible attempts at passes into our fwd line especially in the first half. And sometimes this occurred when the midfielders weren't even under much pressure. Also what frustrated me was on a couple of occasions Dal was runn...

Great coaching last night by RL. Hopefully he and the players can keep it up!

RL is probably in the most thankless coaching position: we lose and its his fault, we win and its because we have a "top 4 list".

I think Charlie is almost an AFL level player capable of playing FF or HFF. He is good enough to tease you and deliver in some games, but not at a high enough standrad often enough. I agree mate. Seems as if he is one of those players stuck in a gap between VFL and AFL standard. At times this year ...

Isn't the main area of concern for 09' full back? It's more likely than not that this would be Max's last year and i'm not convinced that we have a replacement waiting. Chips is better as a HB as is Gilbert. Also, Goose is on the road back from another injury so we can't rely on him. Jason Blake is ...

Play them like the Roos did. Constant pressure. The Kangas kicked 6 of their first 7 goals from putting so much pressure on and causing turnovers. They also spread the Hawks defenders by using whoever was loose. Couldn't agree more. Its all about pressure...not letting them get quick/easy deliver i...

Re: Team structure

I dont know if its just me but logic says that if you drop a couple of bigger guys you probably want to bring in a couple of similar types, unless you had say the Dogs who arent very big. The Hawks are a large and heavy side who win ball in close and move quickly into their forward line where they ...

Bringing back players straight from a medium term injury is a liability . You want players you can count on to run out the match and perform to their expectations, so you can build a solid foundation for a gameplan. I agree. Nowadays you can't afford to nurse guys back in, in the seniors. You need ...

The main thing was that the guys that didn't play "great" still really contributed with the "one-percenters" and all the team-oriented things. Hopefully our efforts in the "one percenters" tonight is the expected standard for the rest of the season.

North has beaten the bulldogs and the hawks, they are not an easy side. This is easily the best win of the season against a good competitor. spot on strauchanie. Not often have we been able to say after playing "North" that we wanted the win more than them or that we out-worked them. We d...
