Re: Seb Ross
At this point there's nothing that stands out about Seb's skill-set and I am concerned that he doesn't have a potential *weapon*. People like to compare him to Jobe, but the thing is he's not as big as Jobe, and he's not as skilled with the ball as Jobe - well, not by foot anyway. I actually thought...

Re: New Zealand this time round compared to last year??
Maybe we'll cut and run like Tassie because we 'can't win' there? Leaving Tassie was disgraceful ..... And was a short term weak decision... Which backfired because the players never got enough exposure to a bigger ground, outside tough conditions and were given the excuse of comfort... It was like...

Re: The Turnaround
The catalyst for the turnaround on field has been Alan Richardson. He's gotten the senior guys to fully buy-in. He's gotten the younger guys playing with a lot of confidence and discipline too. And he's gotten the team to focus on defense, which means they will be able to compete in most games. Off-...

Re: Hickey or McEvoy
Finey on SEN made a good point on McEvoy the other night. He said McEvoy's strength is taking marks in the back 50 to help the defence, but the Hawks don't have a need for that. Perhaps that's why some Hawks fans are a bit miffed by his form right now. If I had to select one of them to play for my l...

Re: Farren Ray...you're a saint champ!!!
Faz is having a brilliant season so far. Top 5 B&F at this stage.
He hasn't played this well since early 09'.
Unfortunately his disposal is still sub-par and hence, he's part of a group of guys (along with CJ) whose spots should become up for grabs in the next 12 or so.

Re: Kiwis not buying in
Isn't the point that, this is a big venture and for us to really make the most of it, we will need to pour resources into marketing it properly and most importantly, grow it over a number of years. You can't expect to waltz into a Rugby-mad country and expect to convert everyone after two games in t...

Re: Still to come back in
Weller and Shenton are a long way away because both are rookies. I honestly don't think Gilbert and Fisher are guys that must come back in. The main thing this year is to develop young players - neither Gilbert or Fisher are going to be in our next great side. Also, in Gwilt and Dempster we have eno...

He looks like a really classy prospect.
Hopefully he can keep building his fitness, because he missed large chunks of the pre-season.

Re: Whoops Richo- out coached today
Why only 2 changes after returning from Perth? That's My gripe when dealing with kids who need to bw regularly rotated in and out of the side I disagree. Part of rebuilding is accepting there will be weeks like this where you take a step backwards in order for the youngsters to learn and develop in...

Re: Geary and Maister
Geary is a limited footballer. His kicking skills have always been below par. But one thing he does bring week to week, quarter to quarter is hardness, courage and great effort. That's why he's in the leadership group. He's not the most gifted guy going around but he's a guy that gets the maximum ou...

He's really grown into that small forward role nicely. Today he also won some ball through the midfield which was great to see.

Re: Round 3 Predictions
Anything under 9 goal margin (loss) would be a remarkable effort I reckon.
I think we'll have a very low disposal game. The Eagles ability to pressure the opposition in the first two rounds has been immense.

Re: VFL - Rd 1, Sandringham vs Frankston
Our VFL team needs Sandy players (or Casey. As it was) to be reasonably competitive And often, they were the best players in the team... Especially the big bodied on ballers like Harrison, Magner and Cockie... Who are easily the best VFL players we've had in the last decade All B&F winners and ...

Re: Roberton?
Roberton dropped off the pace considerably in the second half of last year, so his start to the season isn't that surprising.
He excelled last year - in the first half of the year - when he just played as a loose man. Really think he should be dropped this week.

Re: INS and OUTS for Saturday v GWS
There was a glowing article on Markworth early in the week and going by 2013, that's usually the signal that a player is about to break into the side for his debut.
IN: Markworth, Joey, Lenny
Out: Billings, Roberton, Armitage (inj)

Re: Gwilt is under rated on here
Always watch Gwilt closely because he is one of my favourite players, but tonight he was massive. Can only remember him getting beaten one on one once, other than that he didn't lose a battle all night. Every time he had the ball in the back half he hit a target. Super, super important to the team....

Re: Dal Santo's Effort Being Questioned
How many times have we seen an insipid effort from the Roos when matched up against a good quality opposition on a (relatively) big stage? I feel like I've lost count how many times during the Brad Scott era. It's easy to point the finger at Dal, but these sort of lacklustre efforts were embedded in...

Re: A Flag in 6 Years
I love how this a thread about the future, and then all the posts are about GT and Ross. The fact is that all footy clubs have medium term (5 year) plans. Whether or not it's actually reasonable to suggest we can win a flag by 2020, I do like that we've put our plan out on the table. At the end of t...

Re: Ross Lyon's love affair with recycled players?
How come its only St Kilda supporters that think he is doing a bad job at Fremantle? And the rest of the football world praise the transformation he has had on that team? Bitter? Jaded? Ignorant? Yeah, there's a lot of bitterness I think from a lot of Saints supporters. Trading for recycled players...

http://m.afl.com.au/news/2014-03-03/colless-takes-a-swipe Seems Colless suggests the Saints stuffed up their contract negotiation with Lyon is the reason he really left! The Saints did offer him a 3 year deal but with an out clause after 6 months which was the reason he left, not for money which th...
