Re: Is Caminiti in trouble?

AFL wanted 5. We argued it down to 3. When and how often has St Kilda been able to achieve that in the past? This would a a very rare event in the Saints securing a lesser penalty. True. We are so damaged that we are relieved with three only because we wouldn't have been surprised if they had come ...

Re: Is Caminiti in trouble?

A combination of strong men and s*** rules are also contributing to this. Getting rewarded with a ball up to hold on to the ball invites more tackles and tacklers are told to lock it in too. If prior opportunity was just that and you can handball/kick in a split second (they can when they want to),...

Re: Is Caminiti in trouble?

Cross the white line...

Its a contact sport so if you buy into the game you buy into the risk. Otherwise do swimming or tennis.

Imagine a boxer or UFC fighter suing for concussion. Or a carpet layer or electrician for bad knees. Or a cop for getting shot.

Considering the absolute shellacking we typically cop at the tribunal!

Re: Is Caminiti in trouble?

I'm only ok with the penalty because given his previous experience after five games at AFL level a bit of a training break and rest might be in order. So he comes back refreshed and stronger next month. Also makes Membrey in/out decision easy. Marquee players often get nothing or one for much worse ...

Re: Is Caminiti in trouble?

@DavidZita1
If the charge is downgraded from 'intentional' to 'careless' conduct, the AFL is asking for a penalty of four matches.

Re: Hill - Position

100% Daicos won it for them. Check out the last 10 seconds. He dives on the ball, holds it in and kills the game. Then gets up pretending he copped one on on the scone.

Too bad diving on the ball and locking it up isn't a free kick....

The palm strike from behind into teenage Caminiti's throat does look cowardly. Nothing honourable one could say about it.

If Brad Hill had kicked two of his three shots on goal the strategy would be viewed as a master stroke. Sadly he missed. I bet he (and the coaches) are still hurting (as am I).

Re: The quandary

Been thinking about Max King and what the Lions did with Daniher in his last game. Putting him behind the ball playing as a running intercept defensive block. Gave him opportunities to get his hands on the ball and get in touch. He could then push forward and have spells at full forward. This might ...

I say do the meditation, positive projections, visualisations etc the days and nights before. On game day you want focussed ferocity not ambient relaxation. If you have to get your mental state right two minutes before the game you have left it way too late. There is s good Kostya Zhou quote along t...

Re: Can anyone make sense of what we have become?

We are playing very well and we are playing like a team. The pressure they are putting on opposition teams is elite but it’s a long season. Last season, after round 1, we won the next five games to be 5-1 after round 6. The point of difference is that in many games last year we tended to play one b...

Re: Malthouse urges AFL to change rules

The "finger wave" like referees do in soccer could be a no brainer solution:

A player starts arking up toward the umpire.

The umpire simply waves his index finger three or four times.

If the player keeps at it, blam, 50.

Solved.
