Re: Team v Bombers
I hope the saints don't follow some organisations' email conventions of using initials@domain. This side alone has 2 JGs, 3 JBs and 3 JSs. Hickey needs to have a blinder to stay in the team. Richo is loving Billy lately. I'd like to see Acres in there...reading between the lines, Richo's probem with...

Re: J Brown on Geary
Geary might be the best one-on-one player in the comp. I say that as someone who watches only St.Kilda games, so I don't know, but I would be surprised if there are 5 players with a better one-on-one record in the comp. On top of that, his help defence is surely as good anyone else in the comp. Mayb...

Re: Is Ross now our best player?
Ross borrowed the stand still stop-start from Sam Mitchell. Though Ross is also trying some Lionel Messi type fakes from that standing position. Sinclair in space with the ball is reminiscent of Harvey. In no other way are they similar for Harvey was God-like, but when Sinclair runs 5-10 paces and k...

Re: Get Hodge!
Really? Luke Hodge is not a class act. His record speaks for himself, he is highly decorated, but he is not a class act. Bit of a dog on the field, caught drink driving last year. He is completely unnecessary in a mentoring role when we have Nick Riewoldt at the club, who is about 1000 times the cla...

Re: Keep playing Long
He looked very comfortable in there. Good pressure, good in traffic, all of his touches were good (except and including that wayward one that Koby dropped before taking on three players and scoring the goal). I believe in Long. He'll be very damaging in a couple of years time and I would like him to...

Gilbo is definitely the Holy Spirit. Roo - the Father - is understandable. That's a concept everyone gets. Joey - the Son - is also fairly intelligible to most people, no matter their level of theism. But the Holy Spirit? That doesn't make sense to anybody! Only the Holy Spirit - incomprehensible as...

Re: Is Ross now our best player?
In comparing him to Steven a couple of weeks ago I said: As much as I admire Steven's work rate - he is one of the hardest runners I've seen in a saints jumper, not far behind Harvey or Roo - he has not been damaging this season. In comparing him to Ross, Ross has been a far better playmaker, openin...

Re: Slow version of Oh when the saints
Just on the in-game entertainment/sound system, was anybody else bewildered by that mcdonald's half time review? Everyone was in position waiting for the ball to bounce for like a minute just so they could finish their ad for mcdonalds coffee. I know they pay for it, but I thought that was too much....

Re: Richo is a very good coach
Good thread, good posts. On a tangent from meher baba, I remember warmly going to Telstra Dome in 2004 and watching the forward line walk from the huddle before the start of the game: G-Train, Kosi, Roo, Hamill, Milne and one of Guerra, Dal or Goddard. Probably too top-heavy for today's game, but th...

Re: What Did That Half Of Footy Prove?
Proves the difference good disposal makes. For the first time in a long time, our disposal was excellent. If we could kick like that all the time then we will definitely win a lot more than lose. I know I'm like a broken record but I just don't think our disposal was as immaculate as so many seem t...

Re: Nathan Freeman
Absolutely, we should chill and not put so much hope into him. If he comes along he will be another Jack Newnes type with possibly more inside grunt. When I saw him at Vic park a few weeks ago, he looked good - has a lot of tools - but he didn't look like he was clearly a cut above the VFL, for unde...

Re: What Did That Half Of Footy Prove?
A half can't prove or disprove anything. But it did show what our best looks like.
Like skeptic, i was most impressed by our capacity to bury a team, to put a game against a very good team away in one quarter. It was a kind of vicious we've not shown before.
Huge for confidence

Re: The forward line is still a worry...
It will be interesting to see how we go without Membrey in the next two weeks. It'll be a massive blow to lose him. Too true... Unfortunately of all of our forwards, we don't really have anyone else that plays the Membrey game. He often gets the third best defender and can really punish teams if th...

Re: That 2nd Quarter vs Richmond
Properly unbelievable. I couldn't believe it.
I enjoyed Hardwick's post match press conference. He really summed up well how we played. We even went coast to coast from a kick-in, so good was our ball movement. It was a 10/10 quarter.

Re: Billy Longer - Best game yet?
Every week I've said that Hickey should be playing instead of Longer and that I don't understand why Longer gets played. In other words, I've been anti-Longer.
But he played really well. I'll shut my mouth this week about playing Hickey.
What a set shot goal!

Ross Geary Membrey Riewoldt Stevens Could throw a blanket over the rest. Thought Long looked great out there, as did Gresham, Sinclair and Lonie. The kids are in good nick! Thought DMac made a few too many errors despite his best effort and I likewise thought Jack Steven was a little wasteful despit...

Re: Tim Membery
I say it every week, but Tim Membrey judges the ball in flight as good as anyone in the comp. He always has his eye on the ball and positions his body to advantage. When he has to jump at the ball, he always gets it at the top of his leap. Perfect timing. He never runs himself under the ball or does...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Tigers Round 16 2017
I agree with Ross. He was and has all year been just magnificent. Such a complete player. Long had a great game. Everyone did. (With the exception perhaps of DMac, who made a few really glaring basic errors. His attack on the ball was good, but chest marks, kicks and handballs he should have made we...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Tigers Round 16 2017
Incredible half of footy. Everyone is playing incredibly well. It's incredible. I've pushed for Hickey to play every week but Billy keeps his spot this week. Everyone is playing a blinder out there and for the folks not at the game, rest assured our numbers at and position around the contest are awe...

Re: Team v Tigers
Sounds like Long will be forward - Richo said he has come in for Weller - Savage on a wing/HB and McKenzie HB/Wing. The selections were made to give a bit of flexibility, which is why Dunstan went out because all he can do is centre bounces. Three players are basically the deck chairs on the titanic...

Re: Paddy misses 2 weeks with concussion!
I'm with you, Moods. It's a huge worry and deep down I 'm worried it might be game over. 22 games in three years, coupled with some very peculiar "management" makes me feel there's a lot we've not been told. His development has been curtailed as much by a lack of continuity as anything el...

I think it's an undisclosed amount of revenue, 1.6 million profit, 1 million active (under current research). I'm sure that bone marrow research isn't like getting an uber in its readily available, cheap, immediate nature, so there could be many reasons why a use has not been found for the 600K whic...

Acres should be in though. Before McKenzie and Savage.
And for the record, I still think Hickey over Longer.
Looking forward to Long. He can do some damage provided the pace of the game doesn't catch him off guard.

Re: I really rate Longer, Lonie and Dunstan...
Lonie will be a gun small forward and will be in the realms of Milne. Milne had more strength, but Lonie is better by foot (in fact elite by foot), more couragious and better overhead. He is freakish overhead for a bloke his size. Sorry, this is too much. Milne was a once in a generation player, on...
