Well done, Dunstan - great quarter and game so far. Giving a few of his teammates a lesson out there.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 19 2017
1st half best in no order: Roberton, Carlisle, Membrey, Bruce, Ross.
Brandon White has been very good. Great size, skills and smarts.
Bruce has worked like a county mule out there. Such a great competitor. Tough as nails.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 19 2017
We need to play a forward line. It's obvious. When we cause a turnover, it's useless because we just bomb it to a one on two. Even if it was a one on one, nobody's going to hold grabs in this weather, so when it hits the deck we can't compete. We're on track for a match total of 3 or 4 goals at the ...

Re: From exciting to boring
How have we gone from playing such attractive and attacking football last year to rubbish this year. We were genuinely a good side to watch last year even for the those how don't support the saints and now even I get a. It bored watching us play I'm puzzled by this as well, apart from the obvious e...

Just your opinion. I trust you see the irony of your post. I think you're the one guilty of oppressive behaviour. Let's agree to disagree, but spare me the facile morality lecture, that is the standard response of the perpetually outraged. To be fair, suggesting you need to seriously reflect on you...

Re: Saints and Mr. Gilbert feature in New York Times.
Fantastic. It still baffles me that there are people who fight this kind of progress. And it baffles me that people think that men sodomising each other should be a source of pride. What a moronic ignorant statement to make. So it's ok for a bloke to brag to his mates because his girlfriend allows ...

Re: From exciting to boring
The short-kick possession game plan isn't the problem per se. That would work if players further afield were in position (forward of the ball) and working really hard to make space and open up gaps in the defensive structure. We don't do that, so our short kick play is easy to defend. We do move the...

Re: Match winners?
Actually: i agree. Nobody really. Potentially : Gresham, Billings, Long. I would say these three have the potential for the most scoreboard damage from few touches, either through scoring or setting up play. These 3 have shown the potential to be very damaging but only when we're on top. At the mome...

Roberton is our best to half time, I think.

At this rate, it's going to be a 20 goal loss on this tiny ground. Very worrying.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Swans Round 18 2017
Beautiful goal from Bruce.
But we have not turned up to play. It looks slippery so maybe we just can't keep our feet, but we are playing pretty soft. No intensity or pressure. Same woes of having more or less no avenues to goal.
Need to lift the intensity.

Re: Dear paddy bashers
Previous number one picks have nothing to do with Paddy McCartin. The OP misses this point by insisting on a comparison to other number one picks. meher baba nails it thus: As I have posted before, players like McCartin should not be branded with the number of their draft pick. Now he's at the club ...

Re: Saints, Swans & Significant Games
The 2005 prelim is the worst experience I've ever had at the footy. Heartbroken. Hurt more than the GF losses. I was behind the goals at the Sydney end in the last quarter and it was just raining goals, how I imagine a damn air raid to be. I loved that 05 team so much.

Re: The brand new "stay at home forward" theory
I would love to see someone start out of the goalsquare and basically stay inside F50. Our best one on one forward is Tim Membrey and he is very hard to match up on both aerially and on a lead. Would help us enormously, I reckon. Sorry, but that would be a HUGE waste of Tim's talents. His biggest p...

Re: The brand new "stay at home forward" theory
I've been banging on about playing a forward line all year. We need it. Our big problem when we're crap is that there is nobody to kick the ball to. We cause a turnover and have no options, so we move the ball slow and they get back and set-up against us. I would love to see someone start out of the...

Re: We'll beat sydney
If we still plan on playing finals, it is absolutely necessary. A loss will see Essendon on top of us and maybe even the dogs. We'd be 11th. As well as a couple of other teams currently on 36 points winning, we'll be at the back of the pack. Sydney (along with Adelaide) is a team we really, really s...

Re: Great Teams
Essendon threw everything at us from the opening bounce, we got on the back foot, and we panicked. Thanks to their shocking kicking for goal (even their first goal was a miss, but the umpy gave it to them anyway), we were still in the game theoretically, but we were mentally shot within a few minut...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Bombers Round 17 2017
Carlisle is our only winner out there.
Nobody making good decisions because nobody is presenting options.
Midfield beaten. Defenders disorganised. Forwards non existent.
Need all 22 to lift. We've been smashed
