Re: More delistings
Ray actually had a dozen years in the system... And did what a very small percentage do... Play 200 games... Half of those years in top 8 or better teams Which suggests he has a bit more ability than many are suggesting. It's his seniority and leadership that is more important IMO We should sign Co...

injury, and short memories effect peoples judgments sometimes Yeah, why would people judge the guy on his exposed form? Much rather remember him as he was a few years ago and hope that he can be just as good. Look, I love the guy. I've met him a couple of times, he's a ripping bloke. But he hasn't ...

Re: Union told Jake Carlisle's manager not to tell Saints
I have been supporting the Saints since I can first recall the games I went to in about 1952 or 53. However I was told I went in 1950 many a time ........ I was such a tiny tot I must have been more interested in what was on the ground where we stood behind the Junction end goals such as , beer can...

I'll be happy if one of those three earns a 2017 list spot, played 11 nondescript games between them this year (some injuries didn't help).Con Gorozidis wrote:Eli, Murdoch and Curren are on notice. Probably two of the three will be gone at the end of 2016.

Happy enough with those. I thought they wouldn't have the guts to move on Saunders but that now means we bring in five to the senior list and one more rookie which is an OK number (one or two more would be better though).BringBackMadDog wrote:Ray, Saunders off primary list, Saad off Rookie

Re: Pick 14
No upgrade for Sinclair? Likely to be better than 2 of those so seems unfair. Unfair? It's list management, I'm sure the kid will understand if that's what happens. Jack Frost played 22 games for the Pies in 2014 and wasn't promoted at the end of the year. In 2015 he played 20 and was finally promo...

Disagree on the second part, but anyway he's probably safe seeing as he signed for another year not long ago.RavsterII wrote:Darren Minchington??????

Poll: Final player delisted
Looks to me like we currently have 38 on the list out of a max of 40. We've let four guys go from the senior list (Markworth, Simpkin, Siposs, White) and added two (Carlisle, Freeman). So one more has to go before the National Draft because we have to have three free spots by then, even if one of th...

Looking back at 09 and 10 off-seasons
This suggests that our 2009 and 2010 off-seasons were right up there with the worst of all time:

Re: Terrible Trade Period
The sky is caving in, the saints pick up a ready made key defender, a top 10 pick from 2 years ago and still have a pick in the first round, what a horrible, horrible trade period. Drafting is a weight of numbers game so pick 14 really isn't worth much. You want to have a good draft, you need to ta...

Terrible Trade Period
We paid way, way too much here. It's a weak draft, sure. But going into it with only one pick before 45 guarantees that we'll get nothing out of it. And it's not even particularly early; pick 14 is no better than 50-50 good player. Next year's a strong draft? That's a shame, we've already traded awa...

Also, absolutely love how Hawthorn ended up with egg on its face when our man turned his back on them - how dare someone turn down an offer to join the all conquering Hawks and possibly play in a premiership team next year - Jake is already a favourite of mine :D :D :D :D We offered him a shitload ...

That looks like a very high price. Next year's first round pick is likely to be 20-25, and we also threw in some extra points by trading down our 60s pick. That values him somewhere between Jack Redden (pick 17) and Jake Melksham (pick 25). The kid hasn't even played a game! Obviously we rate him v...

If Carlisle wants to go to Hawthorn then let him go. And he probably should want to, walk into that team with 8+ years left in your career and the world's your oyster. They should be in serious flag contention for at least the next few years, possibly longer. Coming to St Kilda requires more hope an...

It doesn't matter what we paid for him in terms of what we would get now. But he wasn't traded for Pick 13. It was Hickey 25 and 46 for 13, 36 and 55 which would put him around 22 based on the points tables. Pretty close, looks like 23: https://www.draftguru.com.au/pick-value-calculator#13,36,55|Hi...

Re: Waverley- the original dream
We drove two hours each way to Waverley (not including traffic time) every weekend for most of the 90s. It was a terrible ground. Freezing, poor view from most of the place, impossible to get to and from. My fondest memories of it are 97 of course, though I don't remember a huge number of cracking g...
