There was another bloke on SEN this morning who was at the tribunal to give evidence (same version as Ricky Nixon BTW) but was not required to appear as the Saints felt confident they were already in the clear.

I'm looking at it like this, at the most basic level. Fact 1: Baker admitted to making contact with Farmer. Fact 2: Said contact broke Farmer's nose and concussed him to the point he couldn't stand up by himself, let alone walk off the ground. Fact 1: Two players made contact with each other. Fact ...

Re: Be realistic guys.

Your forum is very passionate about the Saints and would defend your players at the first opportunity. You have to be realistic about this matter. If the shoe was on the other foot and Farmer had assaulted Baker in exactly the same manner, then this forum would be spouting exactly the same content ...

We would really have to go for the process through which they made the decision: and I reckon we could have a field day with this in court. Surely someone needs to try and keep the bastards honest... But we won't make any friends at the AFL. Well no change there then... They'd be really happy to se...

The issue here (at least for me) is NOT the length of the suspension - I have no problem with the AFL using loadings for bad records and carry-over points to increase a suspension. My problem is that there has been NO evidence that Baker behaved badly, as far as we can tell it was just the word of y...

so if the club appeals whats the most likely outcome that could occur in our favour? they aint going to over turn a seven week ban, would they drop it down to 3 or 4?......very VERY unlikely?. it wouldnt surprise me if they upped the ban to 9 weeks. I don't think an appeal in itself will achieve mu...

It doesn't even seem to be clear what an appeal must consist of. Some say it must prove that a procedural (legal) error has been made by the tribunal, others say that new evidence needs to be presented. Those are two totally different things (and how anyone can be expected to present new evidence ju...

Re: Line in the sand

BTW as i have been away can someone let me know if Michael Voss had anything to do with this result? Technically no, apparently his evidence wasn't heard (not surprising really when it was quite obvious he never saw the incident and was talking out of his rectum). HOWEVER, just bear in mind that ha...

Anti-Saints tribunal decisions

Thought it might be interesting to collect together some of those obviously farked up tribunal decisions where we have copped it, perhaps along with some examples of how it seems to work when it is the other way round? Maybe give the media a nice shortlist to consider. I'll kick us off with a couple...

Did they get the moderators from Saintsational to do the work? I've heard they are good at removing posts. Not as good as the muppets over at Dockerland. Seriously, I have never been so heavily moderated in all my life (and I'm a pretty moderate person to start with). From what I've seen the mods h...

Re: Reverse The Roles

I hope he's cleared but if not he did bring it on himself. That really sounds like you believe he is guilty. What about the distinct possibility that he WILL NOT be cleared and that HE DID NOT do anything to 'bring it on himself'? The issue here is what happens when the evidence is inconclusive? If...

I think it is low for anyone to insult volunteers who put genuine effort into something. I'm just happy to see people who love the team being so public about it. There is definitely a bit of a 'gap' though, between the cheer squad and the regular fans. It would be great to fire up the crowd a bit mo...

Baker/Farmer v Riewoldt/Scarlett - similarities, differences

Just a timely reminder of the result of the Riewoldt/Scarlett incident - round 1 2004 @ TD... Geelong defender Matthew Scarlett was cleared of striking Saint Nick Riewoldt. The tribunal found there was inconclusive evidence to warrant the charge. It was found that Scarlett ‘definitely' made contac...

Every power forward will have quiet days where the opposition manages to shut them down at all costs. But if it takes two good opponents to keep big Frase quiet then he's earning his dough. Don't forget that he's a good solid kick even from the shocking angles he ends up marking at, and that's not t...

The love of the dollar also drives the somewhat hypocritical approach of condemning rough play or reportable offences, yet allowing broadcasters to repeat footage of it ad infinitum. I thought the dark period where 'unsavory' incidents could not be replayed was one of the stupidest and most absurd ...

You might be right, St. Trav, and I'm very open to the possibility that I am a half-empty-glass type person. I'm not sure I agree with the idea that 'well, it's OK if the coach screws everything up, it's only his first year'. The way the Saints plough through coaches, we spend a lot of our time in t...

I enjoy being a Saints fan when we are winning games. I don't mind losing games in the lean times as long as we have a red hot go, and as long as the reason times are lean is because we are building something for the future. I think that our current situation is very sad. We had some finals success ...

We have taken the "shut down" aspect and taken to ridiculous poportions. For other teams its a small part of the gameplan, and the art is choosing when to implement in the context of a game/quarter. For US, it IS the gameplan, and when it dosent work (most times), we go to s*** and look s...
