Re: Hawks 1st round pick watch
Rooting for the Suns this afternoon. Let's hope the bad Eagles turn up today; a further win for the Suns might bunch up the traffic at the bottom of the ladder.

Re: Hawks 1st round pick watch
Currently watching the Hawks take on Port Adelaide. Suspect that logically I should be barracking for them to knock off a team who is likely to be a competitor of ours for a finals spot. but I can't help feeling a sweet delight at every successive Port goal. Score currently 56 - 2. My bad?

Re: Hawks 1st round pick watch
Not sure why everyone is excited about how low Hawks can stay on the ladder. Someone picked in the Top 10 might end up being a dud. We can't control how Hawks play, but the club can control who they pick.. That's exactly the reason there's interest: The chances of picking a gun at 2 is far far high...

Re: Hawks 1st round pick watch
Today's wishlist: Kangas to knock off Dees. Drops Hawks to 17 and has the added advantage of pegging back one of our finals competitors. Blues to knock off Freo. Keeps Carlton a step ahead of the Hawks, and ditto....

Re: Caroline Wilson's Mental Health
What Caro and just about every other analyst, commentator and former player who have teed off on this topic have failed to acknowledge is that Saturday wasn't the first time this sledging has happened. When it broke on the footy show, Purple introduced it by saying "not for the first time...&qu...

Purple has claimed on the footy show this morning that Murphy was so upset at the verballing he was receiving that re reacted uncharacteristically. Carlton PR department has swung into action.

Re: Hawks 1st round pick watch
With next two rounds vs Cats and Eagles, we hay be a couple of losses away from a decision to pursue a full blown rebuild. Round 6 clash vs Saints shaping as far more than just a battle for 4 points.

Hawks 1st round pick watch
I found myself barracking almost as hard for a Hawthorn loss as I did for a Saints win in round 1. Twice the chance of a win. Even seeing the injectors win didn't tarnish the pleasure of watching the Hawks go down. The round 1 analysis is all about their failure to cover the loss of Mitchell, Lewis ...

Joel Smith did his knee against Collingwood at the G in Round 18 that year.
Lazar's injury was in Round 22 against Port Adelaide.
The full impact of that injury was felt the following week when Spider broke his collarbone against Brisbane in the Elimination Final.
Sliding doors.

If we score 100 points and they score 50, Bombers finish last.
If we score 100 points and they score 45, Lions do.

Re: Positives other than the obvious
Reminded me of R20,2003 where we whipped the Blues at Princes Park. Can remember the same sense of trying to digest what had just happened as we coasted to a 90+ point victory. As it turns out, that preceded a stellar rise the following year and a prelim appearance that we might well have won - and ...
