Re: Scott Watters

Jury is still out on Watters. The picture will be clearer in 2 or 3 years time. But anyone giving 6, 7, 8 out of 10 for this year... is settling for mediocrity I reckon. We missed out on the finals with an experienced list which, while collectively past their peak, should still have comfortably made...

Re: Saints vs Swans in NZ

The stadium will be empty. 500 supporters max who made the journey from either Sydney or Melbourne, plus maybe 250 curious onlookers. It won't be a good look.

And why Sydney? Why not Gold Coast? Surely it's better from our perspective (membership in NZ, if any) that we dish out a flogging?

Re: Cloke

I usually find your posts somewhat amusing but I think you're being a little extreme in your piss take here. None of us know what we have left in the salary cap. Rumours are circulating that we have offered Goddard upwards of 600k over 3 years. Its not impossible we could offer Cloke a bit more tha...

Of course he would but so would Ablett, Cochin and Judd. But I doubt we could get all 4. maybe 2 of them. Re: Saintsational Player of the Year Trophy

I wouldn't dismiss the meaning it would have to a player to receive a trophy. Sainter_Dad's idea of a smaller one for the player to keep as well is a good one I think, especially when you can get modest but very nice trophies with engraving for under $50.

Re: Clinton Jones

[Agree. Match-hardened, experienced, tough players like these two are not to be discarded lightly. You have to ask yourself, Is the potential replacement really going to add more to the team? In many cases the answer is, No. I disagree there. Ledger did more impressive things in his limited opportu...

I also think GT is great on Footy Classified. It's the best footy related show on TV I reckon. White Line Fever used to be the best :(

Re: Gut feeling about our young players

What have you seen in Newnes, bergholt? It's not a loaded question, I just ask because from the limited game time I've thought that Dunell has shown more promise than Newnes - even though I'd still put Dunell in the not convinced yet category.

Gut feeling about our young players

What are your gut feelings about our young brigade, who do you think will make it?

Very pleased with - should be starting 18 next year:

Simpkin
Saad
Siposs

Pleased with - top 24:

Cripps
Stanley
Milera

Not convincing - but in fairness, we haven't had much time to assess:

Ledger
Newnes
Dunell

Re: How will you spend your September?

The cricket season starts heating up in earnest. We've got some games in UAE against Pakistan and the ICC World Twenty20 is later this month.

But I would prefer to be watching the Saints in September, that's for sure.

Siposs

Where is his best position? I've always thought he could be our third tall in the mould of Hamill, roaming around HFF. He looks to be a lovely kick of the ball and could be very damaging roaming between HFF and the wing and delivering the ball inside 50 - a good link man if not a genuine forward tar...

Retaining Goddard should be the clubs number one priority; I just don't like the way the club has gone about this. He's a star, pay him appropriately. We need him to lead the next generation.
