I'm surprised by the lumpiness of our line up for tomorrow - we have at least four defenders capable of playing tall (GIlbert, Dawson, Max and Fish), plus Blake and Dempster on the bench. That is in addition to Kosi, King and Gardiner. I think we should be including another runner and Geary has been...

Better not pick up McMahon - develop our own - he'd just be taking up a space on the list of a young kind that may or may not work out, but by all likelihood would be a better player than McMahon. How would he fit with the game plan, discipline and structure?

I think it was AussieRulesOk that said that he couldn't believe this thread is still going. I read it back to front and I have no idea what anything means!!!! What exactly is the argument?! I would say: 1. To me, as a person, Thommo seems like a fair rick that I really wouldn't like; 2. The guy seem...

OzRules - that's a great post. May we win for all of these individual stories of need, want, hope and trust. We all deserve it, some really deserve it more than others, but we are all on here because we have that undying love for this club. I hope it's your time. I'm not a constant poster, but if yo...

And you don't, under any circumstances, trade away players to key opposition. Most Cats supporters with any clue were a bit peeved with the King deal and helping out an actual top 4 competitor with a weakness. I really hope we can keep him, but it's very important that if he does leave that it doesn...

Great post. One of my close friendship groups has a Saint, a Cat, a Pie, a Don, and a Lion supporter. Ok, just kidding, not friends, but I know them. But being lads and the want to create lists the top 5 of our lifetime always comes up, particularly given the support from the above for Buckley, Hird...

Yep, great post too! Fair bet that we'll be good enough to one of the first two finals :-D But from there two knock out finals from which you don't get to have another crack at it. Some of the radio shows and footy shows tonight have given me a touch of the shortness of breath as this becomes more a...

I'm excited by Armi. Similar to Jordan Lewis IMO. Both have some shortfalls, but some really good upsides, particularly when not every player can be perfect. Armi past Eddy IMO, but Geary may depend on matchups and structure. Geary's running capacity and agility may still have him marginally ahead, ...

5. Schneider 4. Armitage 3. Milne 2. Ball 1. C Jones Absolutely rapt for the future on the performances of Armitage, McEvoy, and Steven. Comfortably beat a hated club (for me) like Hawthorn, maintain the streak, enhance the invincibility factor, and spoil us with some excitement through young kids. ...

Ah well, if someone doesn't like us, too bad. I'd find it hard to hide my bias against Essendon, Hawthorn, and the Dogs. I agree he is an ijot though. Maybe it is just a matter of a lack of brainpower, but I'd always thought lowly of him because he doesn't strike me as someone who knows much about s...

Boom, boom DCSTKFC! Nice! I'm with Saint Bot and Vacuous. Um, hello Dogs, the Saints have a number of guys with less than perfect disposal... let BJ have 40-odd...smart!! yep, Taylor to Roo; Scarlett to Kosi; I assume Dawson to Hawkins and Max will need to take Mooney. S Fisher for Johnson looks like a good matchup. Clint Jones to Ablett.

Roo and Montagna are the certanties at this stage. Lenny, Gilbert, BJ and Dal must be extremely close. Personally, I would have the first three in and Dal will have to push on for some extremely hard-contested spots with the likes of Gablett, Swan, Judd etc floating around.

Hard to see how his kicking can be defended, really. He did run like a machine, though. Were Richmond allowing him to run free? When he had the ball, which was a lot admittedly, I felt threatened in the stands.

Extraordinary development in twelve months from Gilbert. Genuine All Australian chance. He's clearly not the most polished by foot, but he has improved that incredibly - by a degree something I thought not possible. His hands below his knees and his tackling is superb. Is there a better tackler in t...

Great to see him back to form today. I thought he was up in our best handful - running freak! It was definitely Cotchin that gave him a nudge. Probably a week or two in it I would think.

I can't recall the sentiment at Saintsational with Dawson being selected as a Rookie - personally, given he was such a low pick in the ROOKIE draft, it wasn't a huge deal. But, obviously, he didn't have much of a rep and the Hawks couldn't even find a spot for him even though they have jack scheisen...

Sorry, one correction to above - I've mistakenly referred to "the latter" and that was listed as Blake - I see Blake as potentially having a few roles. I actually meant Raph as the 23rd at this point.

Good position to be in I guess.

We clearly need to work most of this through sooner rather than later - interesting debate. The practical point is that you are almost always going to have two, three or more of your starting 22 out of action, so some of this can be a little moot. It really is interesting to see how the 'best 22' fi...

Agree with Big Mart's general point - I had high hopes for all the hype around Heyne, but a number of times he was near the play but didn't bother to chase. Still, if he is good enough and we can scratch that out as much as possible you can arguably live with one in your side. But you certainly don'...

McEvoy = Ruckman Simple as that. I wouldn't stress too much. In fact, Kos is predominantly that as well and will finish up with an Ottens (Richmond) reputation if he doesn't play on the ball more, but the lack of other options is arguably going to hinder his career. Hopefully McEvoy isn't held back ...

CJ as a player simply creates division because he has some tremendous assets - pace, tackling, commitment, gut running etc (some of which, particularly the first, is in short supply) - but he has the major deficiency of his kicking. Depending on where you opinion lies on the relative importance of t...

What does make me laugh is the odd post suggesting Birss did not pick up enough possessions. If you do the math on time on ground by possessions his average would be up there with Hayes. Obviously not a star, but please don't just use a straightforward stat to make the point that some people suggest...
