The only call that really annoyed me was Battle for HTB. That was BS, and the ump responsible needs a stunt in the VFL.
Otherwise, there were some line ball calls that went both ways. I reckon they evened out. We had every chance to win the game but blew it. As we so often do.

Re: Jack Steele Pathetic performance
This is a silly thread. If questions are going to be asked, they have to be asked about King. And Owens, Higgins and Butler. And a few others too.

Re: Channel 7 commentators
What nonsense. Miers is a significantly better player than Higgins. Whether Miers or Higgins is a better player is not the point. Darcy looked up 2 stats on one layer and gave us figures for that player…AND then he backed up those figures with a comment which was factually incorrect. Darcy didn’t b...

Re: Matchday Thread-Saints v Power
Port have some terrific players but they play a dreadful, arty farty sort of game involving lots of possession and running around in circles. It's never going to work for them. They were extremely lucky to win today, and arguably we weren't trying all that hard: it seems to me like we are in another...

Be accountable If you have guys in there at centre bounce attendances more worried about their opponents, them mix it up. Stop being defensive How many centre bounces do you think Dow and Clark...

How long can the forward line be allowed to go on being as disorganised and ineffective as it currently is?

Yorkeys: Higgins can’t kick very far either. Higgins is improving this year, but Miers is the more dangerous player IMO.

What nonsense. Miers is a significantly better player than Higgins. In the incredibly unlikely event that there was a possibility of swapping the two, 99.9% of posters on here would be in favour of it. Most would probably be prepared to throw in a draft pick too.

Re: Windhager 50
I’m with The Dud on this. Watching the game, I felt it was going to be a 50 before it was played. He wasn’t in the marking contest and he ran to completely the wrong spot. They might have directed him to run 5m back to the actual spot, but It was open to them to interpret his action as deliberately ...

Re: Match Thread Brisbane V St Kilda
The team is going ok tonight. We missed a few easy chances and had a weird free kick played against us in relation to the 6-6-6 rule which I think should have been a warning rather than a free. We could have been only 11 or even only 5 points down at half time. The Lions are still displaying some of...

Re: Match Thread Brisbane V St Kilda
Terrible miss by Bonner, though, if it was 50 metre penalty why wasn't it Owen's kick? Actually thought that Bonner would have been better suited if the kick was 40-45 metres out. It’s either downfield to where the free was given or a 50 from where the ball was being kicked, whatever the bigger adv...

Has anyone on here been an umpire? I've seen them do things like that before. There must be an explanation. What is it, though?Bruce G McAbee wrote: ↑Fri 14 Jun 2024 9:53pm Terrible miss by Bonner, though, if it was 50 metre penalty why wasn't it Owen's kick?

Nonsense. He's the perennial backup in case Marshall gets injured. So he could conceivably play any of the remaining games of the season.

Re: Who is our "enforcer?'
To me… it’s not a thug mentality. Hamil wasn’t a thug. Powell wasn’t a thug. They were just players that weren’t easily pushed around and were inclined to remonstrate if out youngsters copped a cheap shot. We haven’t had one for a long time - our players get felled quite a bit and no one stands up ...

Re: Who is our "enforcer?'
TBH, you don't seem to be using the word "enforcer" on page 2 of this thread in the same way that you did in your opening post. "Enforcer" used to be a polite way of saying "thug." The thugs are largely gone from our game (unless they play for Collingwood), so nobody mu...

I'm a little concerned about NWM going through family issues. In my experience of Indigenous families, these can go on for a long time and can put pressure on offspring to return to the family home. I don't think it's respectful of you to be commenting or to speculate on Nas or on his family or to ...

The Weitering story is surely fake news. His contract goes until the end of 2025. He plays for a glamour club that has strong prospects of winning a flag in the next year or three. I reckon it was never anything more than a bit of pot-stirring on the part of Weitering's manager.

I reckon we can perhaps still win it, or at least put up a strong performance. Notwithstanding their good win over the somewhat inconsistent Bulldogs, Brisbane have to some extent lost their mojo this season. Schoenmaker strikes me as being one of those young players who could make a big impact on d...

Re: Who is our "enforcer?'
An old fashioned enforcer would be rubbed out very quickly . I agree. There aren’t many physically-intimidating players left in the league. Stephen May to a certain extent. Maynard: but he is living on borrowed time, and will be rubbed out for a long spell next time he transgresses. Even a big stro...

Re: RTB finger on the pulse
Are things on the improve? Perhaps. We struggled our way to a win over the 16th placed team and then struggled far more to defeat a middling team at Marvel: a game most pundits believe we only won because of a dud call by an umpire. Come back to me after we beat the Lions at the Gabba and I might ag...
