I mean, you can say we had shaky games against the Blues, Pies, Dogs and Tigers .... But at leasty in shaky games you are in with a chance to win. If you are getting blown away when you lose, you don't give yourself a chance to win. Fair enough, but if we'd been blown away by the Blues, Tigers or (...

We genuinely should have won them all That is exactly why the second half of the season was good. Ask yourself this: Since the streak in '04, how often have we been in a position where we can correctly say that we should have won 11 in a row? IMO never. The very fact that we were in 11 matches righ...

Pick 6 and 31 for Brooks McIntosh + one of the Selwood brothers or Brooks Just one example of how we stuffed up our recruting and there are many, many others We had pick 6 in the draft and gave it away for what? and we threw in a second round selection 31 as if 6 wasn't enough for Brooks FAIR DINKU...

I must say that the selection of Hayden ahead of any number of others is pretty mystifying. Shaw would be far better value. Re: Dal Santo, Kerr and Lappin. I know none of them had their best seasons, and that Lockyer had a pretty good season, but the All-Australian process is about choosing a team: ...

It's actually quite a well-written article: sort of moving in a way.

But I'm not quite sure about "chiselled Adonis": Fraser has a very impressive body, but I don't think his face quite has the "glorious beauty" of the Adonis of Greek Myth!!

Re: "Judge us on the 2nd Half of the Season"

no rookies except for Allan Murray for five years Josh Dicketts, Ben Schwarze, Chris Jones, Jordan Barham, Dylan Pfitzner, Nick Stone, Luke Mullins, Edward McDonnell and Cathal Corr. Pray tell me what all these guys were doing at the club? The idea that we didn't have any rookies under GT is a myth...

Re: Patrick Smith weighs in on the debate ....

Under the board of president Rod Butterss the club has returned four consecutive profits of more than $1 million and is yet to knock back an expenditure request from the football department . Can somebody explain to me what Smith means here? My understanding is that one of the main beefs about Butt...

Is it just me, or are there other posters on here who just can't understand the point of these sort of threads? What earthly purpose can be served by discussing the merits of trading players who nobody else would want or else are so good our club wouldn't let go in a purple fit for players from othe...

I thought there was good and bad in both halves of the season. I thought that in our early wins against the Dees, Dogs, Blues and Swans we were more dominant than we were for most of the second half when, even when we won games, we usually kept the opposition in it until the last few minutes. The re...

Interesting information MSG. A more mixed result than i had thought. Really, we have done well to have picked four players who have turned out to be better than your rating of "good" (Kosi, Riewoldt, Ball and Goddard) and two more who are playing in our top team and who could still improve...

Some might argue that the AFL have got it in for us anyway or that we are not a powerful enough club for us to apply any real pressure on them just to get a fair deal. That is why I want the club to develop as quickly as possible - so we get a fair deal in this AFL world of money. Exactly, which is...

Well said Peanut. At last someone is letting us know what some of the particular problems may be / have been. If RB has become the 'dictator' he and his board apparently felt GT was then he/they deserve the same fate as GT. With respect to the problem surrounding Baker's defence, if the story is tr...

Re: G-Train in Court

Feel sorry for big G in court today over that fight. Basically he is running the line of saying he was trying to break it up. Oh dear, is he admitting that he initiated contact and that there was a bad outcome? Then he's history!!! (Wait a minute, it's ok, it's a court we are dealing with here, not...

The decison to hire GT was a valid one...and I have no issues with it. For a while he did an ok job. But BOTTOM Line is GT does not have what it takes to bea very good coach..... It sounds as if the Italian AFL experts expect Xavier Clarke to make an enormous impact during 2008, if he isn't too distracted by the world's most popular pastime.

My take on it all is that RB and the Board did a good job in the early years. The recruitment of Blight was a good call - bringing Hamill and G-Train to the club among other benefits - and so was the decision to get rid of him quickly when it was apparent that he wasn't really onboard for the journe...

Some would say that 17th out of a field of 16 was a mighty generous assessment of the Flying Scotsman's capabilities.

But that would perhaps be unkind.
