Re: Jack Higgins appreciation thread!!!
I'm one of his biggest critics, but I will acknowledge that he went very well today. As did Sharman, about whom I am also often critical. Neither of these guys are A-graders IMO, but they could potentially get there if they can deliver the good stuff more consistently. I would see Higgins as having ...

Re: For everyone
And same message to those who keep pissing on the quality of our list. We beat the top team in the season with a number of our first team players out with injuries. We've got a good group of players at the moment. A few of them are getting on, but there are some good young guys coming through as wel...

Re: Sandringham v Sin city.
I watched about two-thirds of the game and I thought the Zebs played pretty well in bursts. It was the old, old story: they would have won well if they had taken their chances. Some of the non-AFL players, along with Allison, just don't seem to have the skills to be able to execute properly under pr...

Re: Rebuild 2025/2026
Just checking. We have a very good defence? We have a fair forward line? Our mids are appalling? We have an AA quality ruckman? Wilson has what it takes, Arie looks promising? Garcia and Hastie show significant potential. Caminiti injured, Max injured, Dougal and Crouch injured for most of the seas...

Re: Team v Swans
It's frustrating to see Byrnes back: he tries extremely hard, but just isn't AFL quality IMO. i'd have rather seen Paton selected in the starting 18 ahead of Byrnes and have Stocker or Garcia come onto the bench. Sharman made the best of his brief appearance last week, and has earned his spot. I sti...

Re: Caldwell and Durham
Scollop is right. Posters on fan forums spend an enormous amount of time fantasizing about recruiting younger established A-grade players from other clubs, but it hardly ever happens. The main exceptions to that rule were Gehrig and Hamill, who came because for some reason they wanted to play under ...

Re: Carlton successful at tribunal... AGAIN
It was the right call, though...Unlike the Cripps one a few years ago. The Tigers player clearly ducked his head into the tackler and doing everything we were taught not to do as kids. What the Tigers player did is a spinal injury just waiting to happen. He bent forward in an effort to pick up the ...

Re: The Difference
The only call that really annoyed me was Battle for HTB. That was BS, and the ump responsible needs a stunt in the VFL.
Otherwise, there were some line ball calls that went both ways. I reckon they evened out. We had every chance to win the game but blew it. As we so often do.

This is a silly thread. If questions are going to be asked, they have to be asked about King. And Owens, Higgins and Butler. And a few others too.

Re: Channel 7 commentators
What nonsense. Miers is a significantly better player than Higgins. Whether Miers or Higgins is a better player is not the point. Darcy looked up 2 stats on one layer and gave us figures for that player…AND then he backed up those figures with a comment which was factually incorrect. Darcy didn’t b...

Re: Matchday Thread-Saints v Power
Port have some terrific players but they play a dreadful, arty farty sort of game involving lots of possession and running around in circles. It's never going to work for them. They were extremely lucky to win today, and arguably we weren't trying all that hard: it seems to me like we are in another...

Be accountable If you have guys in there at centre bounce attendances more worried about their opponents, them mix it up. Stop being defensive How many centre bounces do you think Dow and Clark...

How long can the forward line be allowed to go on being as disorganised and ineffective as it currently is?

Yorkeys: Higgins can’t kick very far either. Higgins is improving this year, but Miers is the more dangerous player IMO.

What nonsense. Miers is a significantly better player than Higgins. In the incredibly unlikely event that there was a possibility of swapping the two, 99.9% of posters on here would be in favour of it. Most would probably be prepared to throw in a draft pick too.

Re: Windhager 50
I’m with The Dud on this. Watching the game, I felt it was going to be a 50 before it was played. He wasn’t in the marking contest and he ran to completely the wrong spot. They might have directed him to run 5m back to the actual spot, but It was open to them to interpret his action as deliberately ...

Re: Match Thread Brisbane V St Kilda
The team is going ok tonight. We missed a few easy chances and had a weird free kick played against us in relation to the 6-6-6 rule which I think should have been a warning rather than a free. We could have been only 11 or even only 5 points down at half time. The Lions are still displaying some of...

Re: Match Thread Brisbane V St Kilda
Terrible miss by Bonner, though, if it was 50 metre penalty why wasn't it Owen's kick? Actually thought that Bonner would have been better suited if the kick was 40-45 metres out. It’s either downfield to where the free was given or a 50 from where the ball was being kicked, whatever the bigger adv...

Re: Who is our "enforcer?'
To me… it’s not a thug mentality. Hamil wasn’t a thug. Powell wasn’t a thug. They were just players that weren’t easily pushed around and were inclined to remonstrate if out youngsters copped a cheap shot. We haven’t had one for a long time - our players get felled quite a bit and no one stands up ...
