Re: Break out smokeys

I'm hoping it's Keeler, because we desperately need a backup ruck/forward.

Re: Training - Monday December 11

Thanks SaintMike. So if Wilson, Dow and Henry are good enough to line up in our season opener, who makes way? Gresham's spot is the only (really) one available. My team would be based on this B - Wilkie, Howard/Cordy (preference Howard), Webster/Stocker (preference Webster) HB - NWM, Battle, Sincla...

Will need to work hard to displace Butler or Higgins in the side.

You can't play 3 opportunistic forwards in the same side.
Collard may have more x factor than either Butler or Higgins

Re: Developing our forward line for a tilt at the premiership...

Very difficult decision coming up for RTB and the rest of the coaches this year regarding our forward line. From my perspective the locks are as follows... Option 1. HF: Hill - Membrey - Owens F: Higgins - King - Butler Option 2. HF: Hill - Sharman - Owens F: Higgins - King - Butler I would go opti...

Re: Speed

It's well and good to have all this blistering speed, but our achilies heal this year was the lack of forward penetration, or more specifically the excessive number of times oppositions intercepted and cleared the ball around our half forward line. Hopefully we can find a way to get some 'Riewolt li...

Re: St Kilda's Strengths and Weakness

St Kilda's strength in defense is the main reason for our weakness in the forward line. That's because the majority of our players, including forwards, are running back into the defensive zone. Clearly we outnumber our opponent (in our defensive zone) and gain possession. We move the ball forward, b...

Re: Dan McKenzie

DMac is a Lyon type player. He would thrive if fit. He may retire, but there seems there may have been hope a reasonable solution to his injuries reoccurring can be found. If he can be 'fixed' he will get fit quick and will be valuable. Yes, DMac is a Lyon type of player, he runs hard both ways lik...

Re: Billings wants out

Sounds like Collingwood are interested. Billings is a class above Ginnivan and likely to be a well respected regular in a top team.

It breaks my heart that RTB has very little respect for Billings.

I'm prepared to go on record and call this a major blunder by St Kilda.

Agree, I'd take Coffield ahead of Stocker. And I'd have Billings before Byrnes.

Re: Brodie McLaughlin linked to Saints

Brodie is 193, about the same height as Nick Riewoldt, so definitely not too short. Max King is tall, but would benefit with a Strong colleague. Jack Hayes & Caminiti are strong, but not proven at this level. Sharman is not especially tall, and not overly strong. Brodie has similar attributes as...

Re: Billings wants out

Think we'd be making a mistake to let Billings leave St Kilda. He has a touch of class, and good disposl, which we desperately need. Reminds me a bit of Dal Santo. He's had a wretched run with injuries, and if fully fit , properly engaged and used correctly is a regular in our team. If RTB really is...

Re: North Melbourne's compensation

If the AFL feel the necessity for compensation picks, perhaps they should develop and publish a formula which is transparent to all. Such an algorithm may allocate points for 'number of years since last premiership', number of finals appearance in 'previous 10 years, number of games won past 5 years...

Re: Brodie McLaughlin linked to Saints

I'm not sure what the point of recruiting him would be. Silvagni's Moneyball pick? Exciting. Silvagni knows him Brodie very well from his under age days, playing with SOS's son Jack in Nth Balwyn. Brodie was always the outstanding player. As a kid he was small, but brave, very talented and has an o...

Errol Gulden a bit stiff not to get 3 votes in the final round with 42 classy possessions.

Personally I wouldn't have Neale in my All Australian team either.

Probably about right, but unfortunately Saints performance was only about 5/10, not quite good enough to win a final.

Pretty much agree with most of this analysis, but the 'elephant in the room' was the psychological impact of the Tim Membury situation.

Our players were clearly 'flattened' by the devastating news of their team mate.

Re: Mason Wood

I hope his eye is OK after someone stuck a thumb in it. He had to play with his eye closed for most of the second half. He has had his best year in my opinion - certainly his most consistent. Despite that, I think he can get fitter and stronger. Or should I say, he needs to get fitter and stronger....
