Re: Billings wants out

Ross made plenty of blunders this season B.M STFU. You made plenty of blunders on this goddam forum this season. You throw a mass exodus news grenade on the forum and then walks off while it explodes. If you aren’t contributing about Billings then be silent. Here’s my take: RTB is good. We got a gr...

Far better footballer than Byrnes who got a heap of games.
They play different positions.

We're recruiting Henry to play on the wing and Dow to play as a stoppage mid and centre bounce mid.
Correct.

Henry would be the upgrade on Byrnes.

Dow would be an upgrade on Clarke.

Re: Saints lock in hardworking quartet for 2024

Stocker, Webster, Byrnes and Jones all ink one year deals. Got to say that I’m quite surprised that we didn’t sign Stocker for longer… that’s a bit of a mystery to me. Webster I get as there’s been commentary as to whether or not he wants to play on given his injuries. Byrnes is only under pressure...

I think Essendon want to keep Shiel. That’s fine I don’t want him. But if we get compo for Gresham than let’s try and use two first rounders (ours and Gresham compo) and try and get Geelongs lick 7.

Re: Our Bobby Hill

Which of our current players is capable of putting on a Bobby Hill style performance in a Grand Final ? Butler is too prone to attempting his Harlem Globetrotters style flick ons, party tricks, and goals around the corner from 40m out - none of which ever come off against good teams in pressure sit...

Re: Our Bobby Hill

Our Bobby Hill will be Liam Henry when he comes to the Saints. Exact same profile: - Kept out of the team for most of the year. - Has speed to burn. - Electric around goal and up the ground. - Both were criticised for their disposal. Liam Henry will become a star under a fast pace RTB team instead o...

Re: Dylan Shiel

People fixating on Shiel in this completely miss the point He’s 1 year salary goes off book’s end next year meaning we’ve just freed up circa $800 k to have a crack at FA We struggle to park all our salary cap $ now IF we get 13 it’s smart business and kudos to SOS and co for going lateral …..we do...

Re: Dylan Shiel

Nothing to do with what Shiel can offer. He's the steak knives. Bummers pay Gresh more but dump Shiel's salary. It's about the draft pick. The value will be in the return we get from the better compensation pick. There is a thread titled 'Astute Trading.' This is astute trading. However, I can't im...

Re: Dylan Shiel

This is being reported on AFL website; Shiel is 30 , injury prone and is on par with Gresh for s*** disposal plus we’d be picking the difference in the salary cap. Apparently there’s discussions around trading picks as well. Would we really do this deal? FYI , this deal is all about getting the Sai...

Re: Kiddy Coleman

As much as I was impressed with Kiddy’s game last night, the one thing NWM does better is that NWM actually goes back impact a contest with a spoil or does hangers for a mark. If NWM keeps his form up I can see him being nominated for All Australian next year.

Re: Gresham

There is no way we would be handing over the 1st round compo pick for Shiel. By taking his salary I would think a 2nd round pick at best. Deal makes sense; Saints Get - 1st round pick, Shiel Lose - Gresham, 2nd round pick and Shiels salary. Essendon Get - Gresham. 2nd round pick, salary dump Lose -...

You got to love how the AFL controlled footy media spin the whole, "the competition has never been more even" line. For those that needed it, surely now with the benefit of hindsight, even the most misty eyed fan would agree our position in the finals was fraudulent. A snow flakes chance ...

Touchy subject right now. I'd hate to think he was pushed. Why is it a touchy subject? Only the most high profile mental health event in the league in the last 5 years. Are you referring to Members? Are you sure you aren't adding 1 + 1 and getting 3 ? Yeah this was where I was getting to Vortex. I’...

Re: Astute trading

Dow I think improves us as he has the ball winning capabilities very similar to Crouch and Seb but with more pace than either. He is a bit of a ball butcher though. He is though a clearance player which is an area where we struggle. Henry I personally just don't see the value, outside runner with p...

Exactly. This will take him up to his Free Agent season. He requests a trade to Saints for free. The two brothers are reunited.

Re: Astute trading

An easy win trading strategy is to look at the teams with the best of a certain player type, and pick an upcoming talent who can't break in. Jordon fits that, Dow fits that too. From our end, I wouldn't be surprised if people are looking at Paton, Highmore and Coffield for this very reason. Exactly...

Funny When you ask for diamonds in the rough, a mid gets put up not getting game time because of a 3 a grade mids in front of him, it’s slapped down as a terrible idea. Dow seems like a good idea. Being kept out of a good midfield. Has shown he can perform at the level. Huge point of need. I agree on Dow as well. I agree BM. Need to get some unearthed talent. I’m going to throw one in and suggest Hugo Ralphsmith. He’s got something about him that I can’t put my finger on. All out of contract we still might see stocker, Heath, Highmore, and Patten as well should also go so we will have almost no young guys left.
