Re: Let's Talk About the Elephant In the Room

King cannot mark above his head. His shoulder is so shot he doesn't have any faith in even putting his arm up to compete. Yes we did better without him up there. But that was not a long term solution. I am a mason wood fan. But he is not a long term key forward. I think even he would agree with tha...

Re: Sandringham v Frankston

We have to move past Sharman, as BM pointed out, he's a good VFL player but that's it. He's had plenty of opportunity at VFL level to prove he can play at the level but always struggles. He's got very limited tricks with his only strength being mark and kick, if that doesn't work for him he's unabl...

Re: Predictions this Round

Lyon to put work into Tim Kelly and of course Harley Reid. Who gets the job? I reckon that's how Seb kept his spot, did a good shut down job on De Goey, he'll get one of them.

Hopefully, Liam Henry to spend a lot of time in the middle and centre bounces.

Re: Phillipou

I don’t think it’s up to Mattaes Phillipou to determine where he plays. He was of value to the team when he played as a forward. I reckon we should play him as a forward. I think we are hellbent on his fast track to success. I just hope it doesn't derail his career. Don't know about the fast tracki...

Re: Phillipou

6 kicks 10 handballs As a full time mid in the VFL He cannot find the ball in transition- he only gets a possession at stoppage. He is so down on confidence- he is running in wet concrete and in circles Happy if he gets it at stoppage and gets it out. So he got it 16 times. Needs to get it more oft...

Re: Effing disgraceful.

At the start of the season (honestly!) Did you have us 3-8 sitting 15th on the ladder?! Honestly, yes I had us anywhere from 3-8 to 8-3, given the tightness of the competition. Then when the injuries started to roll, particularly to Henry (and Dow not getting on the park) the pendulum swung closer ...

Re: No injuries - No excuses

No injuries, seriously! Are some just arse clowns or are they deliberately just anti-Lyon? Sure our injury list is down to 1 or 2, with the rest coming back from long term injuries which necessitates a few further weeks of conditioning when they return to match play. Crouch, Clark, Butler & Haye...

Re: Phillipou

I’m an on the record RL fan. Huge upgrade on our previous coaches, BUT I’m also very troubled how we’ve managed Pou. Picking him last week was as dumb as anything that has happened in the last 18 months. This kid is struggling massively and somehow the wool has been pulled over the eyes of the coac...

Re: Sack Lyon

Someone should convince Lyon to try Max King in defence. Maybe at FB? Starting with a few simulations during training, maybe? Open up the forward line ... and the possibilities. No more bombing it into the F50 as the go-to plan. We need to concentrate on recruiting quality midfielders ... Max King ...

Player review from Batchelor https://www.saints.com.au/news/1559953/vfl-player-review-heath-and-garcia-kings-of-the-jungle-as-the-zebras-take-down-tigers Just watched this. Did anyone notice Matt Allison's game? Wow! He can play. A couple of more games like that and he's got to get an opportunity.

He started there at Freo and struggled for consistency- like most small forwards

Moved to the Wing and averaged 25per game

He is being played out of position
Because Higgins and Butler are missing. He wouldn't be there if both were playing.

Re: For the "In Ross we Trust" brigade

Jack Stevens played 30 games before Ross showed his true colours and ran off to Freo for the cash. So if you claim he developed him he didn't develop Fyfe who already had 40 games before he arrived. Sean Darcy played 26 games only under Ross. You haven't really helped your own argument by showing h...

Well North don't need mids so we should get a beauty. Also no Thursday or Friday matches and few Saturday evening games. Unfortunately it also means a game at Mt Barker, about 8 interstate fixtures and no mercies from the MRO and umps. Character building. Give me Mt Barker over the Norwood Oval obl...

Re: “Innovate or perish: Why the numbers just don't stack up for Ross Lyon“

As someone who witnesses training twice a week I can assure you it’s not the game plan. The training drills and ball movement are fast, in some cases kamikaze speed. It is basically all out attack. But obviously the defensive part of those drills are less than frantic as injuries would happen all t...

Cordy is decent, a bit underrated. Might need to bring him in to the defence and move Howard or Battle forward.

Re: “Innovate or perish: Why the numbers just don't stack up for Ross Lyon“

The flaw in Connolly's argument is that when Lyon had as going as he wanted in 2009, we were No.1 in defence and 4th for offence, this slipped to 8th offensively in 2010 although we remained No.1 defensively. The thing Connolly neglects to mention is that we didn't have Riewoldt for 12 weeks in 2010...
