Re: Coaching Appointments
In fact, the Board could not distinguish responsibility between Ken and Peter So they moved both of them on Apart from what Allan Killigrew and the bevy of former St Kilda he bought to Norwood, including Brian Bowe and their stories when I was a kid, I knew nothing of St Kilda until into the 80’s Po...

Given this thread started on 1 July, did anyone actually listen to what the Coach said post match, including that Owens and Sinclair were deployed to the midfield with Clark back

Re: Trade King
Well just as well St Kilda is going backwards as some describe
Because if they were not going backwards at a rate of knots then, instead of losing by very narrow margins (except for one game) St Kilda would be winning every game by 20 plus goals and there would be no competition

Didn’t the unbeatable Sydney lose last weekend? And where are GWS, who were mooted to be a force this season, languishing noting their result last weekend Mind you, Sydney were one of the Clubs to lose by less than a kick over the weekend But, no doubt, Sydney and GWS will be called to question, rea...

No doubt King had a nightmare game today - just nothing went right for him Even when you have such days - which is the fact for everyone - the first thing you respond with is to have an impact by endeavour, so you keep trying King today was being rag dolled therefore losing his feet and ineffectual ...

I would also add that when Sinclair was put into the midfield, Clark went to the defensive 6 where he continued to do well

Re: Mids
The defining period was when Marshall was replaced by Campbell Three goals in minutes due to centre clearances and sweeping around the back of the contest and into space, the 3rd goal remonstrate by Hill either because of the (lack of) length of the pressured disposal or because Hill had touched it ...

And in that clip, look at the crowd (lack thereof)
The other question is how long is it since we played Port Adelaide at Docklands?
The absence of crowd is why St Kilda and its players are irrelevant in the opinion of the AFL powerbrokers

The free kick count in any game is what it is and irrelevant Where the AFL has its problem is the inconsistency of umpiring including during a game And I would put that the inconsistencies exist courtesy of the narrative of the AFL including in regard decisions which would have seen a different resu...

Re: The Difference
For the effort put in in the face of The Wharfies clearance and feed and run advantage the result was directly impacted by the decisions highlighted at the open to this thread - all of which were most obviously the fact. The response of those present at the ground was testament - even acknowledging ...

Re: Rowan Marshall is unhappy?
Well, I happen to be of the opinion that he would excel as a key forward, also covering the field at his discretion so getting up the ground. In the Ryder class maybe not, but Ryder was an exceptional athlete and footballer with Marshall not far behind. And I would venture that Marshall is the elite...

The AFL sinks further into the mire of a confected competition blighted by inconsistent and favourable for some only treatment across the confected competition

Fitzroy had a fair side when Quinlan was kicking goals and Matty Rendell was leading their rucks But the business people who supported them were SME operators and not in the same league as the support some other Clubs enjoyed Then there was the Yarra Valley Country Club before Stamoulis baled it out

The questions being why would we not retain Battle and why would we not retain Howard Yes, Battle is undersized as a KPP defender but has the competitive streak to significantly address this and with Howard is a cornerstone of a defence which basically performs to requirements None of Wilkie, Battle...

Re: Would a merger or relocation be such a bad thing
I agree the standard has slipped dramatically over the years - confirmed by players coming from Under 18 level in the SANFL and the WAFL playing at AFL level in their first seasons without playing at Senior SANFL or WAFL level prior to being drafted. The whole competition has been polluted by the AF...
