Re: Changes for this week
I must declare that I am thinking Long - in place of Butler With Billings back With Jones back that gives us the options of Billings,Higgins, Gresham and Long to support King, Membrey and Marshall/Ryder So we start with Steele, Crouch and Jones in the centre square supporting Ryder We need to pressu...

Re: Cooper Sharman
To be quite frank, the likes of Webster and McKenzie were members of a very poor side, replaced by the likes of Coffield and Clark They have persevered, and injuries have given them opportunity But they will make way as our List returns to full strength The same with those delisted by other Clubs an...

Re: Sandy v Frankston
Coffield is a class footballer and automatic selection when fit Adams, at 18 years of age and just a couple of games into senior football, is a key defender being developed Why so judgemental on kids who have come from schoolboy football? 2 games at the next level, against adult bodies and they are ...

Re: Cooper Sharman
Sharman has ability, obviously But he was a journeyman at WWT, playing Seconds and only promoted to the League side a couple of weeks before we took him When he debuted at St Kilda we were struggling to identify 22 fit players - hence he got his chance And he kicked some goals - 4 against Fremantle ...

Re: Votes v Power
When Wanganeen-Milera arrived, the Coach was astounded by his ball use.
We are starting to see the reason why.
This kid may well light up the MCG.

Re: Saints vs Port. Game thread
Samu Yes, Adelaide is in Adelaide. What I was referring to was Geelong at Docklands - then both North Melbourne and Adelaide are not negotiable must win games. So those 3 games get us 3 wins, and 8 on the season - the remainder of the season being 50/50. Win our share and we at least still make fina...

Re: Saints vs Port. Game thread
Just to add, most players got their quota of possessions But how many of those possessions were just thrown onto the boot with no actual looking to advantage teammates? Just throw it in the boot with helicopter kicks - straight to guess who? We played into Port Adelaide’s hands And that is where the...

Re: Saints vs Port. Game thread
And just to add, if anyone wonders why we persevere with Hannebery, tonight was instructive.
We hope and trust they can get Hannebery back onto the park across the second half of the season.

Re: Saints vs Port. Game thread
Not only kicking for goal. The number of hack kicks - which all fell to the advantage of Port Adelaide including gifting them possessions in space in conditions where space was gold and which eventually won them the game. There will be plenty of work to be done off watching the replays of this game....

Of those we bought in from State Leagues to fill the age and experience void on our List, only Wilkie remains

I was one who was disappointed at releasing Acres - always had that point of difference including inventive ball use which led to scoring chains Was never well served by the Club during the Richardson years - seemingly the scape goat As I understand there was a view his development and progress coul...

Re: Team v Power
What bemuses me is the expectations put on players With players such as Ryder and Crouch, they came as very good footballers and you would expect then to perform (and even better after settling into the Club and learning who is around them) Others such as Membrey, Butler, Howard, Higgins et al came ...

Re: Team v Power
We need to continue to win games - as always. So you put your best available side on the park - each and every week (and, yes, there may be match ups to consider). We have injuries, Coffield and Clark (both class players) missing from our defence. We have Billings and Jones coming back from absences...

Re: Dreadful game at the G
In the SANFL, the Anzac Day competing sides are the Grand Finalists from the prior season Why not a similar recognition by the AFL? Just me, but I just do not see that the exact same 2 sides should play on every Anzac Day and especially when those sides occupy the positions they do on the Premiershi...

Re: Changes v Power
Ryder was always going to miss Canberra - to be tight to play Port Adelaide So one change with Ryder replacing Hayes (who replaced Ryder) Jones should be assessed thru the week It is noted that Owens was rested this week - which would would indicate that the work loads of our younger brigade are bei...

Cast back to a game v Melbourne at the MCG, Battle playing as a forward. Showed his class and toughness that match - until he broke his cheekbone and promptly missed plenty (maybe the rest of the season?). Has had his concerns with physical contact injury. But has always been the player he is Has ha...

Sometimes things just break your way. Having the height of a defensive player as the Medical Sub assisted when Battle was called upon to ruck. I agree that Lienert is a handy addition to our List, and with injuries to our first choice defenders giving him the opportunity, is performing well. Remembe...

Re: Seb Ross
Yes, against GCS, Ross was used in the centre square at commencements of plays But, if you note, Ross was deployed to use his body to block hence closing down one side of the contest This was in response to the reputation (and size) of the GCS rucks and their expected advantage So we forced the cont...
