scratch match this morning
The scratch match at RSEA Park this morning was played at a solid pace, with the team in the black jumpers stacked with regular senior players. Jack Higgins and jade Gresham were outstanding with the 2 alternating forward & midfield (Higgins B.O.G). Both had a couple of great moments with strong...

Re: Any news on Paddy Mac?
As much as it would be great to see Paddy playing again, surely in the interest of his health and well being he should forget about playing the game at any level.

Re: St Kilda have only 7 players aged 29 or over
This has been a bit reassuring but it’s a question of longevity/usefulness Ryder exceeded all expectations but the pressure is on to back up Geary looks like he might be outside the top 22 Hannebery’s durability remains a ? Frawley was apparently completely spent 3 months ago McKernan has a lot of ...

Re: Robbo replacement
Looks like they have recruited a ready made Robbo replacement in Tom Highmore plus Wilkie plays a similar role as well. With Carslile & Howard the only real key talls down back, I think we need another 198cm key back as we have Wilkie, Battle & Highmore as the mid sized tall backs covering ...

Re: Number 5
Crouch had #2 at the crows, likely to get 5 with us, Higgins had 22 at training this week & Allison had 30...Frawley is likely to get his uncle's original #24.

Re: Robbo replacement
We're pretty well placed with half backs, maybe look at a strong bodied young tall forward (maybe a Callow) or a hybrid forward (Mason Wood may foot the bill)...a young developing ruckman is also needed but with potentially 4 spots to be filled, that should be sorted.

At this stage, the main training session for the men's team is on a Wednesday morning...if you get to RSEA park around 9 am you should be fine.

Re: Mason Wood
Mason Wood has got some great attributes but his body has let him down, not dissimilar to Shaun Higgins & look how he's turned out.
I saw Wood train yesterday and he looks in ripping shape, very determined also, trained really well.

Re: Was this our worst ever trade?
At the end off 2002 StKilda traded 2001 B&F winner ruckman Peter Everett to Hawthorn for picks #6 & #22. Fair return? You could say yes. Unfortunately we on traded #6 to PA (+#31) for Barry Brooks. With #22 we took Matt Ferguson. So we lost Spider & #31 for Brooks & Ferguson. We the...

Thank you for all the responses to my post, it certainly generated a lot of opinions, for and against, which is what I expected.
Hopefully, Seb will have a terrific season and make me eat my words, if not, perhaps free agency beckons for him.

The Jarryn Geary - Tim Pain similarity
I Can't help but see the distinct similarities regarding Jarryn Geary and Tim Pain's positions in their respective teams. Both are captains, however on pure ability & performance, perhaps shouldn't be in the team. Both men are lauded for their leadership skills, however polarise opinion when it ...

Re: The Seb Ross discussions
Says something about our year. Picking on old Sebby cause there are no other targets Jack Newnes - gonezy, Magic Mav, gone etc. How Kent escapes scrutiny flummoxes me...but then I realise there just isn’t any data from him to scrutinise. He simply doesn’t figure in the reels. Who wants to bet? Who ...

The Seb Ross discussions
Recently there have been a few forums basically comparing Seb Ross's value against other Saints players. If you break up his game, we can get a better picture: 1. He lacks pace 2. He is not strong overhead 3. He rarely hits the scoreboard 4. He is ordinary by hand and foot 5. decision making only fa...

St. Kilda medium to long term viability
Like most on this forum, I've been following St. Kilda for a very long time, 55 years to be exact. Unfortunately, apart from a few successful years, the club has been bogged down in mediocrity for most of its existence. The most successful era, that of the Alan Jeans era, was brought about because o...

Re: Matching our midfield to others
THE most significant comparison between Richmond and St. Kilda is the potential upside. You wouldn't think Richmond will get any better (bloody hope not anyway!), St. Kilda on the other hand has numerous players that will be on an upward trajectory in the coming years. If you add Carlysle, Ryder, Lo...

Re: Crouch is making an early impression.
It's about time Hanners got a decent run at it. He works his arse off and deserves a break, playing 15-20 games would be a fitting reward for hard work and perseverance. Dan provides great leadership on the field, with his voice & experience invaluable. I'd love to see him played off the bench i...

Excitement surrounding Max King
To say excitement around Max King is huge is an understatement. Here we have a young man, 21 years of age, 204cm and now weighing in at 96 kg. He can take pack marks, mark it on the lead, very agile (hence the nickname Winx), and great below his knees! Max is rarely out marked, brings the ball to gr...

Re: Permission to Train / Rookie List
So the big question is why..... have we not identified anyone worth a rookie spot??? Why are they going into 2021 with that many list spots vacant, they must have a plan ...

Re: Young guns who can take the next step
In his draft year, Jack Bytel was touted a top 15 pick, with back and elbow injuries that year causing him to slide to #43. There was a doco made on the AFL website following 4 gun potential draftees...they were Sam Walsh, Max & Ben King, and JACK BYTEL!! Jack has a golden opportunity to slot in...
