Re: Training Friday January 14th

Brilliant write up Saintmike You should be a reporter as you put a bit of depth and analysis into your write ups Super excited about Windhager… his highlights pre draft were exciting and it’s great that he’s just slotted in Love that Paton, Gresh, Marshall and Ryder look fully fit and it’s very exc...

Re: Training Friday January 14th

Thanks saintmike fantastic write up. Did you see Oscar Adams, and Heath train I know Adams had his arm in sling before Christmas. Windhager reminds me of Banger just by what I have seen in highlights if he is half as good we have a winner there. Oscar Adams has a wrist injury and will have another ...

Were Bytel, Byrnes and Connolly training?
Byrnes and Bytel both trained well and were right up with the gun runners during running session.

Training Friday January 14th

Training was held at an oval in Turner St. Highett. There were about 26-30 players training, with below players impressive...starting with the new players: Windhager - has the build of a 25 year old, AFL ready, such a good mover, balanced and confident...will be a powerful player for many years! Hay...

Re: ASHES 21/22

We'll only pick Hazlewood if he's 100% right...doubt Starc will be rested, as he's in career best form and it's not like he's done a massive amount of bowling! Maybe a bowling lineup of Starc, Cummins, Boland, Green, and Lyon, same as the Boxing day test? What a luxury to have such an arsenal of qu...

Equation is simple…Hannebery makes us a better side.
He and Gresham would make a massive difference to our outcome for season 2022 and beyond.

Re: New Centre-half back - Holla a Marshall

I think it's proven that Marshall plays his best footy as a follower, resting forward. Battle will be given every opportunity at CHB, with Highmore and potentially Jack Hayes as backup options. Hayes is a strong boy and seems to have a real presence about him....he represented SA in defense in his u...

Re: Jack Hayes

I watched most of the SA grand final and liked Hayes impact on the game. He’s strong and does the little things that benefit his team. A great mark and seems to have good endurance. A strong bodied key defender maybe is where he can help us Can pinch fit in the ruck but would likely struggle at AFL ...

Re: Herald Sun St Kilda 2022 preview: Season predictions for the Saints

Bytel in my 22…Byrnes at least sub (if there will be one). McKenzie on 1 wing, as Hill likely to stay in defence. I prefer just the 2 smalls in the forward 50,with Sharman that hybrid third tall forward. Battle will be given every opportunity at CHB. Webster deserves to start as a reward for a terri...

I have borrowed a great post from CursingFijian from the Saints BF board - HOW DO WE STACK UP? So how do our team averages stack up in various statistical categories? Below is a list statistical measures with our ranking. I have put the minor premiers - Melbourne - ranking in brackets for an easy c...

No Max King wasn't training...only 28 players trained that day, no doubt managing his work loads, along with a few others.

Re: What's your level of Optimism for 2022?

It's always hard to get a read on predictions but from what I've seen at training, the players are very fit and seem hungry. There are ifs, buts and maybe's but if we do happen to get a kinder injury run we can do a bit of damage. If they get enough supply, our forward line is capable of causing pro...

Training Friday December 17

Training was held at Brighton Grammar in, early morning to beat the heat. What struck me was the intensity of the players and the condition they are in. It looks like Nick Walsh has got them very fit, with noticeable muscle definition with Higgins and Crouch, which was lacking last year. the focus w...

Re: Hannebery turns heads , and more items of interest

Despite Hanner's polarising supporters' opinion, the reality is we are a better side with him in it.
Hopefully, Nick Walsh has got him right and Hanners eases back with his loads... if he and Gresham play at least 15 games in 2022 we probably make the finals!

Myself and a friend of mine were lucky enough to have a chat with Brett Ratten at training recently...he initiated contact which was nice! Re: Jack Bytel? How good? 2021. Opinions?

Given we’ll be missing Crouch and Hannebery, surely Bytel is in the conversation for round 1.
He seems to building nicely, having played well against North & prominent with limited game time against Carlton.
Apparently he got a lot of the footy in yesterday’s scratch match.

Re: Team for Round 1

Jones will be in unless he has a setback, McKernan a lock given Marshall is out, 4 smalls will be in, reckon Wood misses out due to team balance, Long a certainty given the coach loves him and Highmore may sneak in ahead of Carlisle.
A lot may depend on the final hit out end of this week.
