Re: Max Lynch

I’d heard of Draper, he was a dominant VFL ruckman with obvious talent I hope our recruiters add "Who has B.M heard of?" To the criteria they look at moving forward. Draper had not played an AFL game, Lynch had and did well. In no way am I saying he is better than Draper, just that it isn...

Never heard of him

Not even an AFL player atm
Same was true of Draper when we went after him.

Had we have got him I believe our season would be in different shape right now.

Hope we're into this guy, reportedly will be looking at his options this off season.

Beat Gawn when he played this year and like ryder/Marshall can go forward if required.

Re: Changes for next week

In : McKenzie (sub), Carlisle/Ryder, Crouch

Out : Webster, McKernan, Lonie

Gresham and Billings to spend more time forward pushing Lonie out.

Jones and Clark to spend more time at HB pushing Webster out.

McKernan the inferior ruckman. Either ryder or carlisle in for him.

Re: Jack Bytel? How good? 2021. Opinions?

I think his best opportunity to crack into the side will be round 1 and 2 based on Dan and Brad sitting in the stands. If he isn't selected by round 3 I'd say he is going to have a real fight on his hands if all our first choice top liners are fit and firing. What we need is for him to make a compe...

Re: Ben Long

Your OP generated some good discussion. Try not to derail it by turning the conversation into a "I'm right, you're wrong" one. He is young, the future is unknown. Depending on your lense he is capable of seeing out this contract and fading from memory or playing 150+ games. Solid arguments...

Re: Ben Long

Re if he was traded I'd almost be disappointed if we let him go for a pick in the 30s.

We know he can play afl and has upside. Pick in the 30s has to develop and could be sub afl standard.

Rather hold the asset we have than change and hope.

Re: Ben Long

Also important to recognise he is only 23. 6 to 10 years of footy left in him. Currently you back him 1 on 1 vs any opponent, know he is going to bring a bit of fear to the oppo and he has the capabilities to do the odd freakish thing. Sounds like a great young option who is probably picked somewher...

A minor calf strain isn't the end of the world. If it was his hammy id be worried.

Agree with suggestion above that resting in certain games would seem a good strategy.

Dal Santo and BJ both did well when forward.

Clarke before injuries.

They however spent very little time forward due to the quality of our forwards in that time, both tall and small.

The small forward value argument aside our midfield hasn't been deep enough for a long time.

I do think if we're going to recruit another one after crouch though they need to be able to play forward or should be younger than 26.

With Cameron going to Geelong it should be easier to pull players out of there. Parfitt is 22, progressed to the midfield over the last two years and can kick goals. Importantly is out of contract (I think) so whilst we might have to trade we wouldn't have to give up the world. Esava Ratugolea worth...

Re: What players are we likely to get in the trade

We need miss more than anything. Crouch for now and Caldwell for the future would do me. Our first as a straight swap should be enough for Caldwell. Wouldn't leave much to take to the draft though. This is my thoughts too. Then you can trade around the edges. Savage, Lonie and co for 2nd and 3rd ro...

Re: What players are we likely to get in the trade

No chance of us trading billings. 25 year old best 22 player with scope to be a top 10 player who did not have a bad season. Not what many expected or hoped for but not disgraceful by any means. Gresham even less chance of being traded. Savage, Lonie, Hind, McKenzie, Ross, Dunstan, Webster, Parker, ...
