Re: Jordans last dance & Jerry Krause some parallels to
How many have we really nailed in the draft? That's the whole issue right there. The strategy is Ok in theory. But it's a complete failure if you don't nail any A-Graders from the draft picks you collected. And that's unfortunately what happened to us. Loading up on draft picks in compromised draft...

Did I read correctly that one of the benefits of this, is that you get your name on the banner??

Re: Now this is funny .....
I completely agree with him FWIW. The footy industry has always held itself back due its incestuous nature. The long held ignorant belief that you must have played at the highest level to be involved in a meaningful role is just the start of it. I totally agree with Thomas' view. I meam seriously, ...

Re: DUDE LOOKS LIKE A LAIDLEY
Obviously wouldn't have a clue. But I'd imagine the former is the issue here. If you don't want to be seen in drag, you wouldn't go out in public in drag I wouldn't have thought. FWIW, too many of us grew up with movies like Silence of The Lambs and s***, and associate a cross dressing male with sm...

Re: DUDE LOOKS LIKE A LAIDLEY
Sorry slightly OT but to your point about stereotypes and transgender it's actually made specifically clear in both the book and the film that Jame Gum is NOT transexual but a monster with a pathology 'a thousand times more terrifying' and they make it clear there isn't a link between transexuals a...

Re: DUDE LOOKS LIKE A LAIDLEY
However I am more persuaded by the expression of support from his former teammates which tends me to conclude that Laidley's cross-dressing is perhaps a sign of a pre-existing serious mental condition. Not that I particularly care personnally, but wouldn't associating cross dressing with a serious ...

Re: Whispers In The Sky - Well, well, well
Don’t you get it? The umpires cheated against us the whole game, only to pay a borderline free kick for us to win the game in the last minute. Because that absolutely makes sense... Haven't read the thread, but in my mind it was the most blatant 'In the back' decision I've just about ever s...

FWIW, one thing that ISO has taught me - is that footy isn't important in my life.
I actually couldn't really care less if the AFL never comes back at all.
I'll watch it if it does, won't bat an eyelid if it doesn't.

Re: Baker says the AFL Tribunal was "horse s***"
Plugger got suspended heaps as well, but not once was he ever sniping behind play. 😳 Brad Fox says hello. Neil Cordy also sends his regards. None of them hit behind play when they weren't looking. They were wrestles or untidy attempts at the footy. Not dirty but possibly thuggish behaviour. He dese...

Re: NRL CEO resigns - hands off Lethers you bum-sniffers!
Simon Lehtlean may well be on the short list for the NRL's CEO position, bearing in mind that prior to coming to St KIlda as General Manager of Football he was the AFL's Football Operations Manager, a senior executive position very close to the top of the corporate football tree. But he was COO of ...

Re: NRL CEO resigns - hands off Lethers you bum-sniffers!
It is not uncommon for elite sporting bodies to recruit CEO's who have previously worked for other codes, the most obvious being David Gallop who went from the NRL to FFA, and Ben Buckley (currently Chairman of North Melbourne FC) who was previously COO at the AFL and then took over at FFA from Joh...

Re: NRL CEO resigns - hands off Lethers you bum-sniffers!
How would Lethlean go from being an AFL Footy Department Manager at a club, to the CEO of the entire NRL?? Good question, how do you think he'd perform and why. It's not really a question of how he would perform - but how on earth would he get hired? A footy department head from another sport being...

Re: How did this team finish 6th?
Lyon however, reset the team really well and had them contending again - but I believe the failure to win a flag in 09-11 was a direct result of poor coaching and a clearly flawed strategy. You make an art form of contradicting yourself Barry 8-) It is a contradiction. But contradictions are common...

Re: How did this team finish 6th?
Each to their own Barry, I prefer to look at performance, others prefer to make excuses, each to their own! If you're looking purely at the performance, then we didn't perform well enough to finish above 6th on the ladder. Fact. But you posed the question as to why. The very premise of this thread ...

Re: How did this team finish 6th?
Wasn't that the year that Kosi got knocked out and never recovered? And Goose broke his leg? And Hamill only played 9 games cause of his knee? And Ball's OP restricted him to barely a jog? And Penny retired before the season? Oh, and Lenny did his knee. After all that, still finished 1 win off 3rd ...
