The season is a disaster and it is only going to get worse.
I've gotta say, it's really descended into a debacle.

It's become very clear that it's about nothing more than squeezing in as many games as possible so people get paid. It's not about a 'competition'.

Our mids don't need to be molly coddled (if that's what you call playing to a winning ruck - as far as hitouts go) ... they need to figure out how to clear the ball.

To be fair, it's a very mediocre midfield.

Re: RUCK Duo Zero

Gresham a liability? Hind and Marsh were liabilities and perhaps Ryder & even Hannebery who looks disinterested. Gresham has some disposal issues to work on, but that comment is ridiculous. At least he can win the ball. I actually think we should trade Gresham. He doesn't have 'disposal issues'...

Re: RUCK Duo Zero

I do not agree with any of that and believe the highlighted area is just fabricated to suit your opinion. Actually the contraire. I'd never particularly noticed Marshall's actual ruckwork as an issue to be honest. But Brendan Lade spoke about it at a Coaching Conference that he and Ratten presented...

Re: RUCK Duo Zero

When has Marshall ever dominated as a forward? He's been a dominant and combative ruck. Internally, his ruckwork has been considered a concern. Although he performed better than most of our players last year, the team sucked. In part, our mids roving to the opposition ruckman each week was why. The...

Got nothing and still paying part of his contract. Played the mental health card so snookered us for any hardball options. But he's been stabbed, and played 1 game of terrible football. Yes and Carlisle played zero games in his first year and Freeman played one in three years but we still had to co...

Don't agree with that.

Those guys are required, and all teams need them. They're hard to come by.

I agree we're lacking 1 quality mid - but when (if) we get him, these 'front runners' will be worth their weight in gold.

Re: Leadership

Dunstan should never play again. He just can't use the ball. He's too limited as a runner to be a very good defensive mid - which means he has to be a ball winner. A ball winner that can't use it, is a liability. Gresham is the same. He's a dangerous player, that isn't dangerous. Lonie is an opportu...

Re: RUCK Duo Zero

The good news is we have Brett....not the human AL, formerly known as coach, who would've given this failing ruck duo 6 seasons to work it out before making adjustments. The only thing is, will Ratts drop Ryder when everyone made a song and dance about all the new (old) recruits last year? I'm not ...

Our midfield is very, very ordinary.

Without Ryder, I actually think we'd be 0-3 with the lowest % of all time.

Don't wish ill on any player from any club but wouldn't be devastated if things went wrong for him and Geelong!
How were we bent over?

I'd say we've come out well on top thus far.

If Ryder and Marshall only have 16 possessions against this between them (as they did against the Dogs) - we're basically going in a midfielder short. That's a lot to concede.

Not if their ruckwork results in 3 of our midfielders getting an extra 7-8 touches and a few more clearances.

Re: Geary

Physically Josh Battle is the same size as Fyfe, Bontempelli and Pendlebury, all "swingmen" who can play the old fashioned ruck-rover role all around the ground to devastating effect. In fact, I recall Ratten describing Battle not so long ago as this type of player and that is where he wi...

Battle eared the right last year to be an automatic selection. It should be up to him to lose his spot. This is exactly why I firmly believe Geary should not be captain. He is on the fringe of our best 22. The captain should be in the top 10 best players on the list at the very least. Battle is a p...
