Re: Sacking of Tony Jewell ('84) and App't of Gellie: History Lessons?

Does anyone else remember a bizarre "Coach's Corner" segment on World of Sport with Graeme Gellie for the Saints and Jacko filling in for the coach of one of his myriad of teams (including us). It was incredibly cringeworthy, with Jacko mercilessly taking the piss out of Gellie, who looke...

C'mon coalminer, your being very generous with your abuse. The "white Winmar" wow...wish I had been called that when I was playing, jumping over useless sonks, great marks, tearing half their ear off on the way down ....love it. Then having that great Tasmanian Drakey throw 200 quid in my ...

Re: Sacking of Tony Jewell ('84) and App't of Gellie: History Lessons?

He would have been great, but I think he knew the inner workings and that may have played a part in his decision, only a guess there. I think he was in demand as a coach in those days ...and after...

Not being critical of the concern but am wondering how realistic it is
Someone did cover that in a previous thread, it was a few but not a lot.

Re: Marshall promoted to senior list

Is he a ruckman first or a forward that can pinch hit? Am a big fan of Marshall... His presence complicates the structure in the forward line there btw him, Paddy, and Bruce. IMO there’s only room for two and Marshall gets one spot because he can ruck too. If he’s the primary ruck, who is the pinch...

If the AFL was Woolies, we'd be a bottom shelf product, the Suns in a bargain bin & Collingwood at the checkout. The consumer's thirst for their product helps dictate their placement. Essendon's product had needles in it but that storm has abated and let's face it, people love strawberries. Bin...

I haven't seen the new draw Curly, but it was indicated that sides that finished lower on the ladder in 2018 will play each other twice in 2019 and probably top 4 or 5 once. Hence the importance of winning games and not accepting mediocrity in anything we do because that keeps you low on the ladder...

It's pretty sad that the majority on here know we need pace and/or a mid either Rankine (future mid), Smith (inside not outside) or rozee (outside but small) but we are all resigned to the fact it will be max king,a broken untried forward who to be fair has a lot of potential Probably just got a fe...

Re: Sacking of Tony Jewell ('84) and App't of Gellie: History Lessons?

1985 what a year.... ..Just got pumped.... ....The whole place was a shambles. Perhaps this is when Elliot from Carlton called the place “a rabble” and proceeded to trade us any number of ex-Carlton players. Imagine the internet and this forum existed in 1985 -, the things would be said about Graha...

They might get a reasonable crowd. I think the suns are pretty excited about it. Looking at their list though, they may have to recruit JT, Big Mal Meninga and a few others to get the 4 points.

Worth a look, is an under rated type of player, can get the pill and not quick either and that is exactly what his bio says.

Re: Jon Ralph on our rucks

I would have to disagree with that assessment Lodger. Yes, the saints won well, but Bill was given a solid hiding from Gawn around the ground. I don't go by stats all the time, especially if I watch the match live, but on this occasion the discrepancy was alarming in the statistical sense.
