Re: Players we have let go
Nick Winmar was no dud for Footscray. In his two seasons he kicked around 30 goals in each. Wakelins a significant loss, Matty Lappin (cry), Big Boy (cry Niagra falls) , but I wonder if a team could also be composed of players we prematurely sent to the scrappers. Maxy Houghton for one.

Re: Do we’ve do the tank?
is there such a tactic as Panzerfaust? Panzerfauat was a very effective German anti tank weapon that anyone could use. If North did it to us, they would basically prevent us from losing by shrewd switches of players. Would there be any incentive for them?

Re: Having a dip
All I want to see is that level of effort every week. I voted This is nice but I can’t help noticing that we have various reasons that crop up here, 1) lack of effort, 2) no system, 3) poor selection, 4) poor recruitment of players, 5) bad administration and I thought there was an understanding- ma...

Re: Cult Players at the Saints
Fankie, defly, but in the recent era, no one except the G-Train comes within the inner zone of cult-like instant and automatic magentic switch and lock than Mr. S. Milney. Mr. Baker also deserves the salute of respect. Let's forget about Stevie J, we know which Stevie is best.

Re: I hate Richo now
Richo knocked back our initial offer, said he would stay with Port, who steaming along at full steam ahead, then someone or something got him - and I suppose it is just the common human narrative, you have one chance in life, so take it, and he did. He came to a team in desperate straits. We were bl...

Re: Freezer omitted WTF??
I just heard he was as very average on SEN? And I think after so long in the sidelines, a couple of games, then a rest make good sense. Especially at this end of th season. Try again next week. I know I am not a sportsman, but I swim, and after a long break, the second and third swims are torture. (...

Re: Freezer omitted WTF??
I don’t know enough about these players being a newbie (Post Lyon malaise) but I’m just wondering, would you think the goals of the match committee are a) win these last two games at all costs 2) give x,y,z players ‘a go’ before the season expires (maybe even give them performance targets) 3) tank?

Re: Tim Watson era of coaching
Honest, you are right, now I remember we were sliding. One thing I now recall-and I could be wrong- didn’t Watson seem to suddenly want. Nathan Burke to become a stay-at-home backpocket defender instead of pack-borer he was renowned for? - and Burkey was sorely exposed in that role? now if my memor...

Paul Harding, yes, too was good although I can’t forgive him for a chest-Mark-bouncy in the ‘92? Final against Geelong. He went back to West Coast and got a flag? And also credit to the Heath Black - real shame we lost him

Re: Name the top experienced stars that have really helped St Kilda
Craig O ‘Brien a very good player. Forgot about Max Crow. How many good years did he give us? A lot of the players on the longest of the lists, from SaintsRising, were not big stars when they came (Lazar Vidovic for example) . McConville Foschini (sp), Morewood was class - they all played three or f...

Re: Name the top experienced stars that have really helped St Kilda
Kenny Sheldon played some terrific games for us. Yeah, he was 27,28 and 29 yrs old when he came and three seasons for 53 games isn't bad but in those days, it almost seemed routine that we'd pick up some fill-up players from Carlton's bulging sack of capable players either a bit older or starting t...

Re: Name the top experienced stars that have really helped St Kilda
Yes, thank you. G-Train! All-Australian at both clubs. Legend at St Kilda. Aaron Hamill? I heard he had leadership qualities which would have been great in those early Thommo sides and great opening season, but he seemed to be injured a lot. I had to check and found out he managed over 16 games a ye...

Name the top experienced stars that have really helped St Kilda
With the Hannebery talk now generating some talk, (Listen to Terry Wallace on SEN for an 'against' vote), I was wondering about our history of picking experienced bonafide 'A' of 'B+'graders with say 100 plus games under their belt at their respective clubs, who went on to really prove to be stars a...

Re: Cult Players at the Saints
In my time (and the hubris of my own imagination?) Cowboy, Muir, Callery, Gorizidiz, Rex Hunt, WOW Jones, (one of the Cunningham’s) Burns Pekin and Peckett, Kourka, Trianidis, Keogh, Owens. There were legend cult heroes like Winmar, Loewie of course, but the lesser lights seemed to resonate with moo...

Re: Tim Watson era of coaching
I remember the Hawthorn game and subsequent, “boarding house pudding” comment, and, I remember Tim saying he didn’t realize, “being an a-hole” was part of a coache’s remit. That’s about all. I was so shocked at the Stan Alves firing, the disappointment of ‘97 and the Sydney loss in ‘98, when the hon...

Re: Player talk is pleasing
Gaff yes. Lycett, Hanners and Goddard No. Unless our aim is to be the new Richmond ...or rather the old Richmond ( 2005-2009 ) under Terry Wallace Carlton also tried a similar approach under Malthouse..same thing with Brisbane under Michael Voss. When teams have gone hard at recruiting ready made p...
