Re: On The Couch tonight is a must watch
The fact is Firey, we are in a bad spot, not rebuilding and near the bottom. We have to go in that direction now, no doubt! Lyon was not brought in to rebuild, he was brought in to lift standards, enhance strategy and maximise the performance of this list. That won’t be the messaging now, to avoid ...

Re: On The Couch tonight is a must watch
Firey, Is there an element of truth to the fact that King has regressed under Lyon? If there is, the negativity is warranted Shoulder and knee injuries plus sub optimal preseason. Brett didn't have to cope with those set backs. When is negativity warranted. Constructive criticism sure. But we are b...

Re: On The Couch tonight is a must watch
Garry Lyon's frustration with King was on point. Said we'd been talking about this FOR THREE YEARS. And yeah, we have. Max doesn't lead, gets muscled out of contests, is not fond of second efforts, he twirls the ball before set shots and gets aggro at inapproriate times. All these things are fixabl...

Re: Trade King
Max gets double teamed, blocked and scragged most of the game and our delivery is rubbish. Umpires don't protect him like a Weightman perhaps because he is so big. We need another strong forward or to take advantage of the double teaming. Maybe when Dougal comes back Hammer can go forward again. Opp...

Re: Jack Steele Pathetic performance
I hope internally the club isn’t as accepting of “1 or 2 poor efforts” as some supporters. There should be no sacred cows, no player above criticism or critique. Bring back floggings and the stocks eh, that will motivate them. Richos constant criticism worked a treat. What's Jack done for us lately...

Re: On The Couch tonight is a must watch
Saint Kilda bashing is all in vogue and the three piled on as scripted. Their points were flimsy. The Hawthorn arse kissing nauseating. How do they know what Max did or didn't say to Butler, then he got quickly back to position. Beat up. At least they measured Lord's mark as going well under 15m whi...

Re: You reap what you sow
Where do you think we rank in terms of relevance? I’d argue stone motherless last Sydney - please do not compare, on or off field Carlton - are back in a big way Collingwood - Big club recent flag Essendon- are back - smart recruitment Fremantle- have a good niche 2nd team in state - playing well G...

Re: Jack Steele Pathetic performance
You know, fate, if Jack Higgins had not chipped in and steal the pass Butler sent to Jack Steele he would be the hero of a game we won. JS would have kicked the goal. JH missed badly. Fate.

Re: Trade King
Seems silly thread on several levels. One might be: we have a 202cm pick 4, who can kick 60m easily, a match winner with half decent delivery but we think he is rubbish for all that and will take any offer. Of course if we don't get an offer we still expect Max to be committed to us that want to cas...

Re: Mark Robinson interviews Andrew Bassat
MR is not a courteous media person. Questions could have been framed more courteously, more probing. Not much list analysis. No shock value perhaps. The sports journos seem to want to out rude each other. Bassett's responses are great. Thanks for posting.

Competent umpires.
No of course not. Just joking.
Hope the shockers go our way.

Re: Rowan Marshall is unhappy?
must keep Battle It would be nice Agree but 0% Battle hangs around. 90% of players look out for themselves, just like clubs, just like me & you. I wish we were in that era where many clubs & players were loyal to one another. But its gone. Maybe for the best sometimes? So we dont keep tired...

Re: You reap what you sow
We’re ultimately to blame for how depressingly ordinary this club has become. The years of tolerating sheer mediocrity - Richo, Finnis and Lethlean, re-signing Ratten and then doubling-down by bringing in Ross Lyon. The fans tolerate it and laud it, because at least these administrators are apparen...

Re: Rowan Marshall is unhappy?
I saw him sink the slipper into Ross on his show with Bartel and Lethal. Declared Ross had lost his touch a la Malthouse/Carlton. Lethal backed him up with labelling the President a whinger. Bartel did not buy in but took the opportunity to give Max a clip. Morris feeling very cocky. Fuse is lit. Be...

Dow is a big disappointment. Combine that with Crouch's injury, as the thread says. Can't take a trick.

Is definitely going to Hawthorn On a big deal- 6 years at 800k per year There is a very good chance we will get First round compo Either at pick 5 (following our first pick) or pick 19 (end of first round) We desperately need these picks as we should now go into a full rebuild Nasiah, Owens, Windha...

Suggesting Max was told to let Zerk-Thatcher humiliate him is a bit much for even you two ideologues, isn't it?

Re: Let's Talk About the Elephant In the Room
The baby elephant is the lack of discipline and composure our mids and forwards display in tight games. Some moves like kicking to Allir down the line is simply bonkers but we kept at it. There are other examples of course but it reflects badly on the coaching and players IQ.

Re: For the bloody life of me…
Every loss we have against them is one game closer to a win Ain't necessarily so. We just can't beat them. Always out coached. Their players are smarter, harder, mentally stronger. We fold whenever it's an arm wrestle. Most disappointing but true. And worse because I detest them. Today’s game was a...

Has never seemed ok since the shoulder dislocation. Would have been mightily embarrassed about his performance today. A few others should be as well.
