Re: Team v Port
Emergencies are Hickey, Long & McKenzie so coaches selectors rank him above those. Long and DMc didn't set the world on fire so perhaps JL is a symptom of a severe lack of depth, which speaks to recruitment.

Re: Team v Port
Bookies are impressed, Saints are now @ $6 in a theoretically 2 horse race. If it is wet and windy the price might go out to $10 and there will be much physical hurt in those conditions (do we have an enforcer?). Can't afford to fumble or give a ton of turnovers. Upside - cannot possibly draw two ga...

Re: Team v Port
Remember James Gwilt playing one of his first (the first?) games in Adelaide and kicking a couple of goals and playing pretty damn well. Brandon White is same height but it seems 14kg lighter. Uncannily he comes from Dandenong which few realise is the most southern province of PNG and both are left ...

Re: Goodbye 2017
Superman plays for the Cats according to media but reportedly occasionally dives when tackled/kyptonited so would be vulnerable. Lone ranger plays for Crows (Tonto is forward pocket). Winning 4 of the last games and several finals without a super hero is a hard but not unreasonable ask from the loya...

Mid week blues - reflection on 2017 luck
Bad Luck Longer didn't play game 1 Umpiring against Eagles in Perth Draw - got Sydney after R6 Injury and suspension timings for Webster Weller chokes under pressure of a set shot (so do I putting, but) Paddy's concussions and Hugh's foot (highs and lows, you say) Marc Murphy Everyone realised the i...

Overweight Passionate Male Sainter - Pride Game
I know we are a hopelessly over privileged and boring demographic - but my team, my team please give us a performance to take pride in - not necessarily a win but look committed and reasonably skilful. Money for raffle to follow shortly.

Be interesting to get a comparison between Sydney and Power fans. Also if Crows let off flares at their games watch out for Port's response. Shoot someone from a cannon? Anyway tear them apart and watch out for Kochie.

G'day Alan, the Board thinks there should be a briefing for the fans and sponsors about where the team is at and where its going, any real positives to look forward to? Well Matt, uhm arr, our review processes are best practice and really piss poor efforts only serve to sharpen the focus on Mondays....

Re: Mr. Richardson
We need a player bigger in size than Kelly and selection stability. I think Richo is giving certain players chances and will filter out the chaff. Injuries and suspensions have hurt. The wins against GWS, Freo and Richmond show there are the green shoots of a finals team. There are too many 4/10 pla...

Re: observations from tonight
Sydney on a wet MCG is an impossible ask for the current Saints and even the All Blacks would struggle physically (well maybe not). A team with 5 changes will always find cohesion tough. The guys tried and Sydney are too big on a small congested arena. Then we butcher the ball through lack of compos...

Re: Screw you Buckenara
When he coached the Swans he made the team, after a nasty loss, crawl through gravel and mud to toughen up. Surprisingly he lost the group. Why would we even consider he was sensible.

Easy gig. 18 teams x 40 young guys, must be some stuff ups. Just pay for the tip offs and take the moral high ground because she is so perfect; so what if I spoil lives/careers. How about her technical analysis, win/lose predictions and not playing the gender card. Boy she had it in for Sammy Fisher...

Changes show Richo is a good long term coach and a sensible risk taker/rewarder. Hard to argue any without being pedantic. Really like last couple of comments and Mr Whiskers'. There is a chance we will purr Sat. night.

Re: The brand new "stay at home forward" theory
AFL 360 (excuse reference) noted Hawkins was a stay at home and has a poor scoring record in the context of Geelong's attacking success and that intelligent movement a la PD was the key to causing confusion to defences. And of course PD is not your average player. Our forward line already has plenty...

Re: How do we stop Lance Franklin?
Can't stop him while he is fit. Have to concede him 5 goals and just kick more. If we are inaccurate again it will be goodnight, ta ra finals and hello another low draft pick (it might even be used wisely). At the SCG our mids need to make sure they are not intimidated by the Swan's mids who usually...

Re: Trade McCartin
I'd suggest as a primary issue the Saints have an obligation to look after him and to show that it is a club that cares about players - if you do that it adds to attraction of being a Saints player and giving effort. Players and managers notice that stuff. Paddy obviously has talent and is stiff in ...

Bastille Day
Fragile performance - need good second ruck option, Ross to dominate and side to have reasonable kicking efficiency, plus bounce of the ball to have a chance - otherwise it goes pear shaped. Webster to return and Acres unless he has really upset the coaches. Compulsory attendance at decision making ...

Losing 3 managers under dubious circumstances is a bit careless. AFL seems a bit incestuous with its recruitment. Not to suggest any of the parties are blood relatives. May explain the corporate smugness but. Fans? Why worry about what they want.

Not sure why he is rated at all. What's he really done.... Paddy Mc? and......I imagine he is eloquent and smooth like N. Buckley. And when did he involve a club in finals - but possibly perfect for AFL bureaucracy.

Hindsight -"paid for **** comments"
None of the expert commentators picked the Saints to beat the Tiges. Now we are almost flavour of the month. As the Tigers coach observed they are paid for **** comments. Lyon, King (not the Disney show) Brereton et al react to past events and really have limited legitimate inside knowledge. So why ...

Natural nervousness; how long is a winning streak, lots of variables; Membrey out, Newnes doubtful or rested for the last quarter? Longer ok? Young Long and McKenzie second up; Ross now a taggers target? will Acres perform; walked under a ladder et al.....Structure and system is solid, each week som...
