Re: This weeks game
I think its about 17 games ago we last won away (Freo?). Two real away wins in the past two seasons. Poor record, Suns must feel a chance on a big ground.

Re: The factors that may save AR
What would have possessed Jake to write that, is Alan lobbying the press. Even if the players were solely responsible for the recent incipit displays calling them out publicly is possibly the last thing to do if one wanted to motivate them; and what's the premise, that the coach isn't responsible fo...

Re: COMMENT: Saints' road to flag a highway to hell
Planning good, execution bad (like the mythical game plan?). Tom Lee decision was surely overly influenced by Coach Watters. NZ might have worked if we had performed. Did not win a game (three first gamers in first match?), played at night in cold wet conditions on a postage stamp - product served u...

Re: This weeks game
There is winning and winning. Falling over the line against poor old Suns would be nothing to get excited about. Early betting is Saints $1.65 Suns $2.25 i.e 0. 65 on vs 1.25 against. Hardly Winx odds.

Re: Ins and Outs v Gold Coast
If there are not 5 or more changes then it is safe to assume Richo is incapable of admitting mistakes, far too risk averse, possibly suffering some kind of depression that stifles action and/or is being bloody minded on the way out the door. It will also mean the club management really will have to ...

Actually we live in interesting/exciting times
We have actually bottomed out. From the end of the first quarter Saturday Richo was finished. He will not coach next year. Now that I accept that I feel a weight off as it means an exciting time ahead. The interesting era (see Chinese curse) is ending. We have a core of very good players with a lot ...

Re: Hickey dominated Nic Nat
I'd suggest Hickey has had his card marked DCM and unless all other ruck options are injured and is unlikely to not play again this year if there is an option. Running off the ground as he did was career ending stuff if there needed any exclamation point. Someone in recruiting must surely be drawing...

Re: Roo on 360
Rabble, lost, no game plan, hurtfully disappointing (Roo attended as a spectator and felt for the other fans). He also noted Richo has to be under pressure and strongly inferred that without a significant and quick reversal of results he would have to be removed. It was like listening to a summary o...

Re: POLL: When should we sack Richo?
I think we should think about keeping him for a while but that doesn't seem an option. This season his winning percentage is 12.5%. Far better than most racehorses (and AR is cheaper to feed and agist. We can also try to claim the actual capital loss/ damage to the club against a higher salary cap i...

2017 v 2018 stats - reading the entrails
How's this for not having enough to do: after 12 games in 2017 Saints averaged 14.4 goals a game for and 15 against (rounded). For the second half we averaged 13.5 for and 13.6 against. This indicates a 22% drop in scoring but a 10% improvement in defence. It translated to losing one more game in th...

Re: quote from the coach
Hiding, noun: beating · battering · thrashing · thumping · pounding · pummelling. Alan loves irony, its so Aussie. Translation to simple English by Assistant Coach for the Transition from winning games strategist Baldrik "..we are not beating, thrashing, thumping, pounding or pummelling" i...

Player numbers (extract from coaches notes)
1. Get ball
2. use ball
(fine print)
2a by foot (see 2c)
2b by hand (see 2c)
2c bugger, user error, loop back to 1
3. score goals (redundancy feature in case 2c affected by random chance)
Its often the fine print that causes problems.

Re: Administration and Coach - Hold our nerve
rogerfox, your question (?) about the problem unnerves me, somewhat like the theme from jaws. Isn't the problem that the current operational team can't win games, that the coaches, recruiters and a number of players are not up to standard, which has obvious consequences. Are we under a curse? What i...

Re: Its Time for the current Board/Management and Coach to Go!
Saintly, how about we don't think of it as a sacking, just embracing improved technology. <richo> v1.0 was ok as a first response lifebuoy. Now we need a row boat and some people with oars and a compass. Steam power was ok way back, but we have better options now. Once there were myths about the ear...

Where is our Peggy O'Neal. And who was that lady next to the current President last night. I find it difficult to believe that Nick, Joey, Lenny, Harvs, Nicky Dal, Stuey, Bakes, Blakey, Andrew Thompson, Burkey and GT et al et al either individually or in some grouping will allow the current trajecto...

Re: Ins and Outs v Gold Coast
Think all the outs mentioned (6) are good nominations. That would seem the minimum reaction to what has officially been described as an unacceptable performance. vacuous space's idea also strikes a chord. We need bigger sized and one grab men at the clearances as we either get brushed aside or canno...

Re: The cumulative mental toll of perverse and serious injuries
The cumulative effect of losing and being whipping boys for top teams would be more damaging I think, particularly with no light at the end of the coaching/management tunnel. It just drains motivation like nobody's business. We just have to win a game somehow. I can't think about the aftermath if th...

Re: Where do St Kilda go from here??
A good coach still needs good cattle. Give us Martin, Rance and Naismith and I think we would perform better (doh!). But Hardwick is a good coach. There is indisputable evidence Richo is incompetent at senior level. He is so incompetent he can't even see it and negotiate an exit with honour. Saying ...

Re: Ameet Bains
The conundrum for me is what was/is the board thinking. Ameet, Pelchen, Watters, patently just not up to the responsibilities they were given. And now AR. I watched D. Sexton (who does what?) nagging at Richo on the bench. I would have thought so much more of Alan if he just slapped him to shut him ...

TV kept showing El Presidente juxtaposed to EL Serene Capitain de Coaches. No need to get more toxic than that more than a thousand words tableau. Richo is cactus - termino. Brave man that steps up after though. Ridicule is one thing Presidents cannot forgive and tonight he (like us and the club gen...
