Re: Match Thread Saints v Dons Round 3 2023

Higgins and Butler are both enjoying the greater space the G offers - harking back to their days at the Tiges.

Re: RTB AFL 360

Looked uncomfortable with Chris Scott and the 2 douche bags ..didn't give much away .. Scott said don't fall in love with 2 and zero. Pretty weird segment on 360. Any one else watch it.? I didn’t get that impression at all Very relaxed Does t like being called RTB fair enough he’s self effacing and...

Votes v Dogs

Brilliant team effort. Every player put in, so apologies for those not listed below. 5. Jack Sinclair. The general in defence. Only made one error all night. 3. Jack Steele. Looked injured at the end, but for three quarters was dominant. 2. Mason Wood. 2. Rowan Marshall. 1. Brad Hill. 1. Brad Crouch...

Re: Round 2 Side

Assuming Windhager is fit, he comes into midfield , Gresham to play forward, and Butler out.

If Webster out, then I agree Paton into the 22. Maybe Sharman as the sub, as a bit of a swingman.

Unless Ross comes back, Bytel keeps his spot.

That beautiful left foot at half forward , good hands , knows where the goals are. Where have I seen that before ? Not quite the start of George Young who kicked 4 and was BOG on debut in round one 50 years ago ( which I remember like it was yesterday ) , but then again this kid is just 18. Exciting.

Superb effort by all. 5. Callum Wilkie. Such a general. 4. Jack Sinclair. Continues his AA form. 3. Josh Battle . Undersized , but was brilliant in shutting them down. 2. Mason Wood. A real weapon. 1. Jack Steele. Wonderful effort by the captain. Just quietly, our top 10 recruit Mattaes Phillipou lo...

Re: AFLW, Trades aplenty and a mega deal

Not going to lie, I see this as a massive net win. The G train has stayed in the station since her All Australian season, and it hasn’t even been an injury cloud or anything, so Wardlaw would be an upgrade. Disappointed to see Shierlaw go, but she is 33 or so now, so if she wants to see success, I ...

Re: Australia in India: Train Wreck?

My dear old grandpa used to tell me that cheats never prosper. That was decades before the Indians had money and power. Lol. In 1700 India produced 25% of the world's GDP. In 1950, when the poms farked off, its contribution to the global GDP had declined to 4%. There's been some dirty tactics and c...

Re: What a brilliant draft - well done Saints!

It is important to benchmark this thread . It may turn out that these blokes can’t play. In years to come people - with the benefit of hindsight - might say “ Look, we picked some dud at pick 10 and we missed a Brownlow medallist at 11. The recruiters are idiots”. That is an invalid argument. The re...

Getting back to the topic at hand , I heard Mattaes interviewed on RSN this morning . For what it is worth ( and accepting that oratory does not make a footballer ) , he was super-impressive. Great attitude. Most significantly, was very happy to talk up his fellow SA draftee Isaac Keeler .

Apparently born 27 December 04. Five days younger and he would not even be eligible for the draft . That logically means he has more potential upside than all the other boys selected .

Maybe DMac is now also on the injury-susceptible list given his persistent calf problems kept him off the park from his mid-season knock that should have only taken a few weeks. So we have; Billings Jones Gresham Gresh And maybe DMac and let’s hope Marshall is OK back wise All suspects in the chron...

The great Frankie Vergona. He was a brilliant umpire - if you were Fred Cook. He loved paying frees to Freddie in the goal square in front of the Burrough faithful.

Re: Private School intake Draft Day

From very limited “research”… Overall, in 2019-20 the commonwealth spent $3,246 on public school students and the states spent $11,935, for a total of $15,181. Meanwhile, the commonwealth spent $10,211 for each private school student and the states spent $2,978, a total of $13,189. Can we then star...
