Re: If The Dogs Can Do It. So Can We

Excellent post, Damienc. You too , Loris. I am pleased for the Dogs, and take some heart and hope from their achievements. I recall vividly the thrill of '66, and the many disappointments since. I am surprised that some of this forum have been extremely critical of those of us who take some positive...

Re: Congratulations Bulldogs

Great effort Doggies. A super finals series . Fairy tale stuff. Well done Tom Boyd. How good their coach must be. Quality person.. Great to see him get Bob Murphy up on stage. The only downside on the game... How ironic it was that the last act of the game was a staging high tackle to Toby McLean.hi...

Re: Selwood legacy there for all to see

The high free kicks staging is becoming a blight on the game - some of the dogs players are shockers but it is paying off! I suspect we will all end up having to coach our players to do it but at what cost? The game is changing and pretty soon we will have players doing it constantly. The league mu...

Re: GWS vs DOGS.

Wonderful win by the Dogs. Fabulous for all their long-suffering fans, their administration, players and their coach. I just watched the last quarter again, and it confirmed for me that Brian Taylor is the most pathetic AFL commentator . He does not even know the score. First, with the Doggies up by...

Well it stands to reason the Paddlepop would be interested in the Lyons.

He would be the one most likely. Still only 24. Melbourne boy ( southern suburbs- played for Sandy Dragons ). Has shown a bit. Could be OK for a late round pick, even Rookie. The others - don't think so.

Re: GWS vs DOGS.

Crikey. Don't understand how people can't empathise with the Dogs' supporters. Long time VFL / AFL club, long time battlers, threatened with extinction/mergers more than once, success starved, no entitlement attitude. Just watching their fans joy at their win last week was moving. Hope they can do ...

Re: Umpire under investigation by AFL Integrity Unit

The seaming wickets and lower bounce in England ( where Lawry toured three times ) made it more likely he would be adjudged LBW than in Aus , where the bowlers were using the bouncier wickets to knock him in the Snoz. Terry Alderman will vouch for the greater numbers of LBWs to be had in England. By...

Re: Saints ( former saints) in Finals 2016

Caydn has won at least 6 flags for Old Xavs, Southport and Sorrento over the years... Perhaps 8 He has another flag. Xavs won 9.7 to 7.12. Caydn kicked the sealer. He gathered a loose ball, side-stepped his opponent, steadied and, from outside 50 straight in front at the outer end at Princes Park, ...

Re: Laverde to nominate Saints - Mounting rumours

Maybe there is something going on there - maybe he's not happy to see Parish leap frog him in his first year. Maybe he's FIGJAM and thought he should have played more last year or weren't happy with some brutal advice the coaches have said about defects in his game. But maybe it comes down to we've...

We did indeed just miss out on Jayden Laverde two years ago. Bombers took him with the pick just before us. We then took Hugh and then DMac. I had quite a bit to do with Jayden in his early teen years in another sport, and recall him as being a very determined, respectful young lad - excellent team ...

Yes Kosi- Frosty's short time at the Blues is a black mark on an otherwise stellar career. Still, 29 goals in 11 games, in the years when the Coleman medal was won with 68 and 56 goals respectively, showed he could definitely play.

Great to see the name of Frosty Miller on the top goalkicker trophy . After the 66 GF Alan Morrow retired from the VFL and moved to Dandenong as Captain Coach, and I followed him across and became a 'Nongers fan. ( It was easy in those days - VFL on Saturday and VFA on Sunday ). Frosty Miller was hi...

I recall a number of people on this site were pushing for us to draft Daniel at the time. ( happy to acknowledge I was not one of them) .We did indeed pick Lonie ahead of him and - to be fair - it seemed a good choice last year.

So the vfl players that played seniors in the last round (even though they played virtually the whole season in the vfl) didn't get a game again. Something doesn't seem right about that crap. Sam Fisher played in the seniors in the last round, and he is playing this weekend - so I have absolutely n...

Well I am stuffed if I can see any rule in there that prevents White, Lonie, Holmes , Wright and McKenzie - all of whom surely have played at least games for Sandy this season- from lining up this weekend. Of course the club may decide not to pick some or all, and I recall they left some eligible gu...

Bluthy - would have been very keen to get Randy "Macho Man" Savage, if his manager "The Lovely Elizabeth" also came across as an assistant coach. Amongst my favourites of the early WWF ( as they then were ) days. Alas both of them no longer with us.

I agree with OP as to content and also sentiment - this is not a happy time of year, to let go of guys who have busted their guts for us. We have to make room for Carlisle ( remember Holmes was elevated for him), plus I suspect they will elevate Coughlan. So I think will need to drop 6 from senior l...

It is tough for the lad but not a surprise. Two years as a rookie, and by the end of the second year was still mainly in the Sandy Develolment team. We have to make room for new blood next year. Best of luck, Brenton.
