Re: On the Couch- brilliant

Looking in the mirror doesnt serve much purpose other than to pin the blame on those responsible for a flawed rebuild strategy. Particularly as the chief architect has moved on and doesnt seem to have been embraced by another club (Pelchan). We are where we are and the relevant part of Roos's commen...

Re: Show some flaming ticker

Long time reader and first time poster. Seriously, some of you so called Saints supporters need to show some bloody ticker! One bad loss and everyone is at the club's throat from the CEO, to the coaches, players, recruiters, backroom staff, etc. Then there is talk of folding and relocating and clea...

Re: Paddy and the burden of symbolism

Most recruiters had him top 3 so its not like we were outrageously extravagant in selecting him. What hurts is that virtually everyone knew Petracca was the one to get at pick 1. We overthought it. There is still time for him to turn it around. Another 5 or 6 games will show us where he is at and w...

Re: Paddy

Paddy has been far from our worst. The ball has hardly made it into the fwd 50 for Christ’s sake. When it does it’s bog awful Oh come on, the delivery into the fwd 50 to Paddy is no worse than was provided to Nick Riewoldt! Oh, that's right  i read somewhere that we had only 7 entries into F50...

Can we play "hawks footy" or "Tigers footy" or any sort of footy that wins flags rather than "saints footy"?

Re: Elshaug

Plenty have done poorly on the psych tests and have gone on to great careers. What would you do if a young Wane Carey, Tony Lockkett or Nathan Fyfe tested poorly? Would you pick them on demonstrated ability? It depends on exactly what you are testing for, the strength of the test, its validity etc....

Re: Elshaug

No point rewriting history. we all know almost eveyone agreed Petracca was the best talent that year, but Paddy was top three and fitted our needs. We were desperate and tall forward values that year hit a bitcoin bubble - it was a mistake, but one most clubs in our situation would have made. our d...

Re: Longer - 1 paltry disposal

Longer got himself fit in 2017. Much fitter than previous years. this allowed him to be competitive in the ruck contests, and our most effective option at that part of the game. Despite his deficiencies around the ground, at least a decent argument could be made that he was our best option. This ye...

Re: Longer - 1 paltry disposal

This has got beyond a joke. I get that he's competitive and the players just looovvvve him in the tap outs, but sadly our midfield has been smashed 2 weeks in a row, and this guy couldn't be playing any worse. 1 disposal just doesn't cut it - for any player! So, what's the alternative? A bloke like...

Re: Paddy Vs Brisbane - Play by Play

Good post. I still think he didnt look100 % right against the Bears, but who knows. Hope over the first half of the season, everyone looks to acknowledge the good rather than focus on the negative.
Jury will be out until he can string enough games together i think

Re: We need to talk about our rucks.

No problem favoring one player over another. I have an issue with "completely useless, a liability, waste of space, we're playing one man down" etc etc. Go back and have a look at some of the crap from last year. Similarly, take a look at posters re Paddy and the love for Petracca... a blo...

Re: We need to talk about our rucks.

The coach doesnt seem to agree with your assessment. Worth noting that Saints offered up Hickey for a trade year before last and no takers. Atleast 2 clubs enquired about Billy and were told he isnt going anywhere. It would be good if our loyal band of supporters stopped slagging our own players suc...

Re: Paddy

Needs continuity of games before anyone can pass judgement. Seems the playing group and coaches believe he has ability so thats fine for me. Wasnt a good start against the bears, but to me, he seemed a little "spaced out", so wondering if that has anything to do with his health. I hope eve...

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)

We went into this trade period looking for one maybe 2 elite A grade mids to finish of the side. Unfortunately there were none available, just B graders or players that would be a negative contribution to our culture. i dont understand people unhappy because we missed out on the likes of Balic, Watt...

Re: Farewell Lonie

Its all well and good to see Lonie, Wright and Minchington let go.... ....but the Saints actually need to find a new small forward then that will make an impact. I don't think they need another small forward. Need to fix up the way they send the ball into the F50 first, work on that. We could have ...

Re: Interesting stats regarding disposals

I tend to think the biggest improvement will come from conversions. Also cant help feel we were lacking a strong marking key forward target. We seem to get pushed wide into the forward fifty and maybe this adds to our inaccuracy. Hopefully Paddy comes on next year and Josh Bruce holds more marks. Ad...

Re: Longer!!!!!

Billy's had a couple of reasonable games, to be fair this year- but the opposition coach isn't going to give you a hand up by volunteering the right information to you - are they? They're more likely to reinforce what you want to hear, when it benefits them. We need drive from our ruckman, and Stef...

So this is still going!!!!! I'll point you to 2 efforts by St Kilda ruckmen that impacted on the result of a game. 1. Michael Gardiner v Geelong at Docklands. 2. Jason Blake (yes!) v Hawthorn at Docklands when we turned a game on its head after half time. I note a reference to Longer spoiling Gawn ...

I must admit that it disappointing that they have not blooded someone like NoK (who I believe can still be promoted, or Rice (maybe he is not fit?). Are you insane... why try new blood that might not make it when we can get a guaranteed 12 possessions, (4 kicks & 8 handballs), 3 tackles, severa...

How does this help the footy club? Just feeds the stereotype the current administration has worked hard to change
