Re: Richardson's Flawed Theory?

Fair comments sunsaint, but as we have seen in the recent player changes, being on contract has hardly held anyone back (other than Tim Kelly) - Dayne Beams is a classic example as he wanted "out" of the Lions to go back to the Pies and possibly contend for a premiership. As for the body l...

Re: Richardson's Flawed Theory?

On the other hand .... Our biggest loss all year was only by 50 points ... despite our challenging draw, wholesale injuries and below-par recruiting - including that of Weller. 71 actually - against the Swans, plus two more over 50 points against North and Richmond. Adelaide was 49 points. We were ...

Re: Sexton contracted for another year...drat!!

I have had a look at the list of coaches on the Club website. It is interesting that Ratten is listed (as a Senior Assistant Coach) just below Richardson and ABOVE Sexton (the Director of Coaching). The other coaches then are listed in what appears to be seniority. Maybe I am reading too much into ...

Re: Sexton contracted for another year...drat!!

If these ideas start to gain traction has Lethlean got ahead of the curve and has already started looking to rationalise the DoC and head coach positions? I believe Simon Lethlean is indeed "ahead of the curve", and that is undoubtedly due to his previous senior role in the AFL. In the sa...

Sexton contracted for another year...drat!!

Readers of this forum will be aware that I have been questioning the retention of Danny Sexton as Director of Coaching. I contend that with all the criticism of Alan Richardson for the team's poor results since mid 2017, even greater responsibility has to be sheeted home to Danny Sexton as DoC, beca...

Re: Next years captain

Geary shouldn’t even be getting a game... Exactly my thoughts! There are those who will defend Geary as a great clubman, and that's fine, but to my mind the captain should lead by example and Geary's skill levels are at best only average - there are times when his performance warrants being dropped...

Re: Bill Slater...

As a ex Victorian and now proud Queenslander I am absolutely delighted to see Billy Slater throw his considerable skill sets behind the St Kilda wheels. One of the side benefits is that Slater's highly respected profile should bring a lot of die hard NRL supporters to support the Saints both on and ...

Re: Is Richo making it harder to attract quality?

Blessing in disguise. We don't pay overs for shiel and ratten all but takes over next year. That means this time next year we are looking like a much better club and we can throw a lor of cash at whitfield Couldn't agree more...I'm not at all unhappy about Shiel choosing to go to the Bombers, no wa...

Nope. You read everything incorrectly. The first poster was right. Some supporters are just as soft as butter when times are tough. Roll up your sleeves for a change. That was his point I believe. I'm all for good criticism and analysis (its how you improve), but little of that happens on here. Lik...

Re: Toughen up Sainters...

Couldn't you mount an argument to suggest the club haven't been content or happy in the past few months and have made some changes in response to performance not meeting planned outcomes? Which is why I wrote: YES there have been some promising noises of late and some promising appointments. But: 1...

Toughen up Sainters...

There is no question that St Kilda has had a horrible year and it is not surprising that this has led to many Saints members and supporters becoming despondent about the team's chances in 2019. Thus we see posts on this forum like "We are a laughing stock", and under almost every heading o...

What happened to Billing 's requesting a trade if Richo was still coaching just a couple of weeks ago ? Has he been chatted or was it a total fabrication ? Hard to know what to believe but I really don't agree with your love for Richo IMO he has lost the respect of the player & the fans so I th...

Re: Saw JB last night

I really hope that JB stays a Saint for life. In my humble opinion, with a wee bit of tweaking this side are not THAT far away from lifting themselves up off the canvas and taking the next step. With Roberton, Bruce, among others back in the side, along with new recruits we could see improvement qu...

Re: New coaches - Skrobalak and Batchelor from Dolphins VFL

Jeans was indeed an appointment "from left field" at the time and not at all rated, he was a serving policeman and it was a very close vote by the board at the time to appoint him as senior coach. On the subject of coaching appointments for 2019, I sincerely hope that the club also appoin...

Players endorsement crucial to Richardson's survival

Whilst I have long remained neutral on the question of Richardson remaining as senior coach in 2019, it has occurred to me that the main factor that will determine his survival in that role in 2019 will be the attitude of the senior players to Richardson - do they support him 100% and do they believ...

Re: Balanced article on the Saints... Balance needed here

Let me state: I don't know if Richo is the man to take us forward, I do not know, he may not be. But he is contracted, he is our club coach. I can't see why you'd hate the man - he is not trying to push the club down the ladder. Express your disappointment (I am disappointed where we're at, intense...

Re: Online Petition for Richardson's Resignation

This petition should more appropriately be targeted at St Kilda's Director of Coaching Danny Sexton. As I have posted on this forum many times, Danny Sexton has to bear the full brunt of responsibility for the team's woeful season and a half. As DoC Sexton oversees ALL of the coaching panel, includi...

Delighted with this announcement and it will be even better if Jim Watts is elected to the new Board at the AGM in December. It is to be hoped that Andrew Bassat brings strong and demonstrative leadership to the St Kilda Football Club because the last two Presidents (Westaway and Summers) were far t...

Re: Adam Kingsley GONE // Ratten + Lade joining

So Lade is confirmed: http://www.saints.com.au/news/2018-08-27/saints-secure-lade No way Ratten gets announced until the Hawks are knocked out. I'd expect Sexton to move on to create that "Director of Coaching" role for Ratten. Surely this is how it is going to play out, no way known that...

Much of the comments made so far is quite misinformed. As far as I'm aware no-one on this forum has any inside information of what has been dis...

Re: Loophole in Richo’s contract

There is of course also the possibility that Richo himself will decide to resign. The pressure he will be under at the start of 2019 to turn the team's fortunes around will be immense, and he doesn't strike me as the sort of bloke who will ignore the writing on the wall if there is no significant im...

No. He’ll be a superstar at Essendon, slotting them from everywhere and taunting us for the next decade. What we need is a coaching set up that gets the most out of the talent that Billings has. That Gresham has, that Acres, Clark, etc have. Agree with you Big Carl! Billings is like Seb Ross, is ta...

Positive signs for 2019

Following a miserable year where St Kilda has regressed to the bottom of the ladder - as noted in the media "the most disappointing team in 2018", it is time to move on from the despondency expressed on this forum and consider what the future holds. The catalyst for a positive 2019 will be...

Re: Saints stand by Richo

We should not be at all surprised to hear that the club continues to back the senior coach, he has after all another two years left on his contract, furthermore, with a few exceptions, this is not the stage of the season where clubs move on their senior coach, it would make the club look like a bigg...
