It's a no from me. He doesn't offer much for us at this point in our push for the grand prize, and has the massive downside of taking games away from our young players that need to build experience.

Re: Who willbe coaching the Saints in 2017?
All jokes aside and DEFINATELY I won't be giving you any names but one of the above has made contact with the club in regards to perhaps an assistant role and another one on the list is being "actively" sought after to join our coaching panel. I kid you not. Hopefully not Mick Milhouse! h...

Confirmed. Big call by North, will they see a massive drop next year? Boomer just put up 32 disposals and 3 goals on the weekend, and is currently in their best 22 easily.

Re: Mav's Diary
Saw it on Saturday when saintbrat posted it . Great read, made me learn more about Mav beyond him just being a hard nut. He genuinely seems to have a good head on his shoulders, and shows dedication getting in early to look at video of potential opponents. I would be happy to see him as captain in t...

Montagna do the club a favour and rip your contract up, you are shot!!! Clearly one of our best, playing the role the club wants him to play. Not sure he missed a target in a game of comical skill errors. Why is there so much hate towards him. Dumbfounded. I suggest you watch the replay, he was ins...

Re: 2017 Captain - serious thread
Would "co-captain" stll make him eligible for the record - if so Geary and Roo would be my vote Leadership from the bookends... Co-captain shouldn't make a difference as far as I'm aware - Roo was co-captain in 2007 with Luke Ball and Lenny, and this seems to have still counted towards hi...

Re: 2017 Captain - serious thread
I'm curious why you and others think Gears when he will be 29 next year? He seems a type you would follow into battle, but not knowing how he sits in the team dynamic who can say? I seem to remember him being mic'd up earlier this year? And his play calling and direction to teammates was pretty gre...

Our injury toll this year
...was surprisingly low. Hope I don't jinx us by saying so, but we had both the fewest number of games missed to injury amongst all our players (107), and amongst our experienced (50 game plus) players (35), according to this: https://www.reddit.com/r/AFL/comments/4ygcxn/your_clubs_2016_injury_fortu...

Agree with Jacky Steven, Mav or Newnes. All good picks in different ways IMO. Though a lot of commentators seem to think Geary will be next captain (but what do they know about the machinations of our club?). when did Roo say that. terrible move by the club if so - get the record and then ass it ove...

Re: 2016 Season Predictions
Interesting to see all the love for Billings, given the recent mood around here. FWIW I think he's still yet to play his best footy for us, though this year obviously wasn't a step up from last year.
Most predictions are 7-10 wins. I think in that respect we've done well this year.

Hickey and Chips already ruled out. Gears is doubtful at this stage. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-08-16/sam-fishers-career-in-limbo-after-hamstring-strain Chips a test for the Brisbane game, in what would probably be his last game. Hickey hopefully back for Lions game. Gears has to pass a fitnes...

St Kilda veteran Nick Riewoldt believes the time is right to hand over the captaincy at the end of the season and is confident there is someone at the club ready to lead. "I've always said right the way through that whatever is in the best interests of the club. I think it is probably time for...

Re: Good Call, Bad Call
Alan Richardson needs to find a way to fit a second bonafide ruck man into this team. Bad call with the current team as it leaves us too top heavy assuming the second ruck was rotated forward. I think it might work if they were rotated defensively but it's very difficult to find a genuine ruck that...

Re: 2 rucks
What about Roo as second ruck instead of Bruce? Using him won't unbalance the forward line like what it does with Bruce being moved. Using Carlisle next year in that roll could free his forward opponent and be dangerous. Using Reiwoldt would essentially be moving a winger and one of our most compet...

A mistake, I think, to try to turn him into something he is not ... a tackling machine, grunt type of player. Sure, work on his weaknesses, but get him to play to his strengths. Good vision and good reader of the play and creative. Maybe a run and carry out of defence role? Anyway, nowhere near rea...
