Re: Stanley to Port?
The classic recent tall forward/ruck who was "built like Tarzan, played like Jane" and changed late in his career into a solid aggressive player was Leigh Brown. 2010 Collingwood premiership player. In his earlier career at North, he avoided body contact, didn't put his head over the ball ...

Re: Shane Savage = rebounding defender minus the 'defender'
Agree.
Savage gave up lots of goals. He is very easily pushed off contested ball situations and marking contests. Missed tackles too. At least 2 resulted in goals. Gave up at least one dumb free kick for a goal too.
He looked exhausted in the last quarter. Is he fit enough?
Terrible game!

Re: Michael Barlow and our recruitment
I saw him train with the Saints. His upper body was small and he had big hips. Didn't look like a footballer. Also pulled a hammy while training and looked pretty disheartened. Didnt really get a chance to show his stuff. Understandable why he wasn't picked up.

Re: Day/Night/Twilight - what breakup do you want?
My Wife and I stopped being members as with small kids we have no games at 2.10 to go to. They are too small for evening and twilight games.
More 2.10 Melbourne based games please. Saturday or Sunday.
We would be members still if the fixture had 5 or 6 games we could attend.

Re: How good are Armo and Steven actually?
Both these guys have deficiencies in their games that hold them back from being A graders. As stated, both are not in the top 50 midfielders in the league. I am sure they are working on the limiting factors. Of note; I have watched a few games from last season and Steven was used as a tagger a coupl...

Re: Why not Hickey to full back?
We have a FB and his name is Tom Simpkin. He is in his 3rd year of senior footy next year and his improvement from year one to two was huge. He will continue to improve and if he does at the rate he has so far he will hold down FB on all but 3 or 4 players in the AFl When we play the teams that hav...

Re: Why not Hickey to full back?
I can see how many posters want to see Lee as a forward. He looks exciting and could work really well as the 3rd tall working alongside Riewoldt. The issue the team has is there a lots of tall forwards and all can't play at the same time. Our forward line last year did OK. We need someone to play ta...

Re: Why not Hickey to full back?
Hickey at his draft camp came second in the clean hands exercise, top 10 in 3km time trial (along with Jack Newnes) and the highest ranked tall in the agility test. So one would assume he has good hands, great endurance and agility. Listed as 96kg so unlikely to be pushed around too. All he has to d...

A lot on here think Stanley is a FB option and all I am saying is that Hickey has a better skill set than Stanley to do the job.

Why not Hickey to full back?
I have been reading lots of posts about our lack of a tall defender. Stanley has been put forward as an option. I think he doesn't have the strength to lower his centre of gravity and hold his position in a marking contest. Basically, he is pushed out of position too easily. Hickey is quick, can hol...

Re: My best 22 & squad of 30 for round 1 2013
My take on 2013 team is made up of the oldest 21 on the list. I figure the players 23 and over are on the list for a reason. They would not be there if they weren't going to play. They all have mens bodies are are ready to play. I think that is too simplistic. For starters, CJ, Blake and Kosi were ...

Re: Options down back
We have really miss him. Dawson was quick, made heaps of spoils, lots of pressure acts... With the ball was a bit shaky (clangers) and missed a tackle or 2 occasionally. Overall, would love him back at the Saints. We have no replacement. Overall I'd hate Dawson to be back at the Saints - I'd love h...

Really funny is the ads for an online gaming company with a fresh faced young man fronting, saying his rich family history...

Re: WAFL Watchers - Nicholas Rodda
Some on Bigfooty have said he is slow but his sprint time at the testing disproves that and should bring him up the draft order. Can't say for sure but he should last till our picks in the 40's. I still think a mature full back should also be picked up. Picks in the 20's for mids and the 40's for ta...

Re: Trent Dennis - Lane
Found this on BIGFOOTY. Quigley wrote it and thought he should be drafted at 22 in 2009. He is usually a good judge of talent. Maybe he has just had injuries at Sydney. PICK 22 – WEST COAST Even if the Eagles take Jetta in the first round I still think they will look to take a small forward option h...

15 disposals and 21 hitouts a game suggest he played ruck rather than key position mostly. 20 tackles for the year isn't a lot though. Looks quick in highlights package.

Re: Can Lee be our key defender?
Just did some research and Lee played well in defence in 2011 apparently. CHB rather than FB. Played some games in the ruck changing forward too. He is 94kg so only Cloke would push him around. Cloke is huge so would push around Mitch Brown too. Over summer he could put on a few kg's. Anyway, not ma...

Re: Can Lee be our key defender?
Has anyone actually seen Lee play as a defender? How was he defencively? I don't want hearsay. Has anyone even seen TV footage other than the highlights package? He held his spot in the WAFL team for a while before being moved forward so can't be too bad. He can move forward later when needed but c...

Can Lee be our key defender?
Been OS for a month so missed a lot of trading info. A few comments and questions... Has anyone seen Lee play in defence? He has played many games there in W.A. so could solve our defence issue. Stuff West Coast and look at Mitch Brown next year when he is out of contract. Martin from Melbourne can ...

My Wife and I quit being members because we have 2 kids under 4 and can't do twilight or night games. With only 2 afternoon games just no value. I work Saturday nights sometimes too. Next year we should be able to do twilight games with the eldest so will probably be members again.
