Re: Why didn't Sharman play last night?
May be well wide of the mark but there were some comments in pre-season about Sharman not exactly shining on the training paddock. Could be one of those players who gets by at training but really enjoys playing. Possibly that may not sit well with coaches who expect the training effort to be there t...

Re: Match Thread Rd 1 vs the Filth
All the issues that have been flagged for some time (slow midfield, bombing into the forward line, lack of spacing, poor structure etc etc) were on full display yet again tonight. Moore is a good player and dumping the ball on King's head just made it too easy for Moore. Very disappointed that time ...

Some suggestion on Big Footy that Marshall may not suit up for this week. Guess we'll see.

Re: New rule: Not questioning umpiring decisions???
The umpires make some awful decisions and it is not surprising that players, justifiably, get upset. So the player cops a penalty and the umpire moves on. That sounds about right. I would imagine that the abuse given by the players in a game pales into insignificance compared to what comes over the ...

Re: Intraclub game this afternoon
The bits I watched on the live stream didn't fill me with confidence I have to say. Mostly to do with disposal. Lots of kicks into F50 going over heads, too many bombs and hit and hopes. Some of the younger fellas are exciting and am still optimistic about the season ahead. Our disposal though did ...

Excellent! Not generally a fan of 5 year deals but for Jack I'll make an exception.

Agreed. The banana jumper was a shocker.mad saint guy wrote: ↑Thu 16 Dec 2021 1:35am We've had two great away jumpers - the hot cross bun and the candy stripe. I'm happy with either of those, and please may we never see the yellow peril or the faded apron ever again.

I was surprised that Harris was selected for the First Test given his poor form leading in. The thinking of the Australian selectors remains a mystery.

Re: Fair enough
If they were serious Michael Christian would be gone. He has never been consistent and plays favorites. Has been underwhelming in the role. Some of his attempts at rationalising why players were or were not charged were "interesting" to say the least. Would have been good to be a fly on t...

Re: Draft Central Power Rankings
The Saints need skilled outside midfielders with pace. Knightmare has nominated an inside midfielder with apparent weaknesses in the skill and pace departments. :? If we take Hobbs I won't be happy  Id be surprised if he got through to us, but if he did it would be a win. Watch his videos he ...

Re: Vale John McIntosh
I thought he did it in a final in 71 Did he re-injure it? Some really sad stories for us in that era, even though it was a successful era Probably held us back from at least two more flags from 60 - 73 John unfortunately being a huge out… would have easily won 71 if he plays Yes, hurt a knee in the...

RIP John McIntosh. Superb player. One can only wonder where the Saints could have gone if the knee problem hadn't cut short his career.

Re: Dunstan
No compensation pick listed on the AFL site. As in, they have stated that we are not getting one, or they haven’t mentioned anything at all? Just no mention of a compensation pick for Luke whereas the others (Hewett, Chol etc) have the details of the compensation picks granted by the AFL to their e...

Re: The Grand Final - who'll win and why
Melbourne's clearance work was out of this world once they flicked the switch later in the piece. Didn't see the magnitude of that turnaround coming. The Dogs were right in the game and then they weren't in a short space of time. Their midfield in the end got destroyed. Melbourne's surging run becam...

Re: Petracca's Road to Damascus
Trying to judge an immature kid in a psych test would seem to be a fraught process at the best of times. Would imagine there have been plenty of disagreements over confidence vs arrogance. Buckley was nicknamed FIGJAM for a reason. A club is made up of people of all types of personalities. Do the Sa...

Re: Saintsational v St Kilda (Best and Fairest)
Some interesting discrepancies between those lists eg Jarryn Geary in a couple of years.
While Luke Dunstan played a series of good games this year I am surprised he finished as high as he did in the Eastern Award. If he ends up there in the TBA as well he will presumably be more aggrieved.
