Re: We need to start a lot, lot better
While the breeze last night didn't appear (at least on TV) to be the strength of last week you would have thought that the Saints should have had their first quarter "into the breeze" game ready - nup, same result. Handball happy and much of it wasn't constructive.

Re: JLT Match Thread Saints v Blues 2018
Am thinking the coach was trying to lull us into a false sense of insecurity - seems to have worked. Too many words sprang to mind with an "out" prefix: - thought - enthused - ran - played, etc The Saints got themselves back into the game in the 3rd quarter and then fired blanks with the b...

I'll second those nominations.George27 wrote:Ian Stewart in the centre, Banger ruck- roving, Lenny on the bench.
Glenn Elliott and Greg Burns both excellent centremen, but Stewart was one of the top 5 Saints players I have ever seen, as was Rob Harvey.

I have to say Carl don't I? Just coincidence that I share the view Carl was the Saint's best ruckman in the period.

Re: 2018 Free Agents
Given what the AFL did with the Motlop compensation you could be forgiven for thinking that they will "work their magic" in an effort to keep Tom Lynch at the Gold Coast. Having had Ablett go the AFL can't really afford to have their other marque player depart as well at this stage when GC...

Re: Jack Lonie having an impact deep into September
Cotchin was never going to be offered a week. Think about it. That would mean taking it to the tribunals Tuesday night, and then if that fails, an appeal on Wednesday. The AFL wouldn't have wanted GF week marred by this incident, when they can say accidental impact and just clear him. So the AFL hi...

Re: Composure
The Saints just did not settle in the first quarter. Both teams were a shambles in the first few minutes but Melbourne recovered their senses while the Saints played like the weight of the world was on their shoulders. Seb Ross usually looks to be able to create the time and space to make a play but...

Re: Still no Credit for Paddy!!!!!
Some interesting comments on "Ön the Couch" last night about one position power forwards (Schache, Boyd, McCartin) - Gerard Healy (I think) was suggesting that with the quickness and nature of the current game that he expects that teams will bypass these players as top draft picks in futur...
