Re: May not be popular
I know we have not recruited well in the past but is till don't believe that a few early draft picks will fix the problem. Our bottoming out had to be but then why don't clubs like Geelong,Collingwood and Hawthorn to an extent don't spiral to the depths we have in a short period of time. The reason i...

Re: Sam fisher in the bo
Its probably a slight over reaction but for what these guys get payed and hearing Rooy and Richo saying that the senior players buy into all that stands for the team it was a pretty poor efort. I rarely go to the football and if i do i don't even take my mobile with me,my son who is eighteen and has...

Re: Schneids
Unfortunately for Scheids when the team is not functioning he struggles. Ball coming into the forward line in recent weeks has basically been hacked in if not kicking straight at Roo so he simply does'nt get to the right spots.Present situation is really not going to allow him to play another couple...

The thing that was so impressive was the effort. Mistakes will happen but at least if you make mistakes means you're having a crack at the pill.He appears to be relishing the opportunity at senior level and rather constantly looking to Rooy and Lenny for inspiration take a look at a teamate who is e...

Re: Let's not forget
At the moment due to the inability of Stanley,Siposs, Maister and Lee to provide physical support our game plan is so predictable that Roo is our only option.Until we find other avenues and maybe two or three goalkicking/assisting midfielders we will remain mediocre at best.I'm more concerned about ...

Re: Saints v Hawks match day thread
Disapointed for just lack of real hard effort. Yeah, the Dawks are a good side but a bit of competitive spirit to have a crack would go a long way. They seem overawed by the occasion.

Re: Lack of composure
The one who really worries me about composure is Geary. He plays on a lot and runs himself into trouble. Its a double edged sword because he can give us some run and dash out of defence. But his ball usage and vision seem poor. Unfortunately with Gears and a number of other younger kids is they hav...

Re: Question regarding Leigh Montagna.
Would not trade as he will be fill in captain when Roo goes so that Dunstan could slot into the role similar to Ling and then Selwood. We will still need some experienced heads on the park. He has been lucky that he has not had any serious injuries and his body will probably hold up well and has the...

Re: Forward line needs a bit of work
I want to see Fisher come back and play out of the goal square. Before people throw up arguments, I know he has been our best defender for years, but he has hardly played in a year. He is old and our backline is looking okay. Bruce and Delaney at the moment are the future and to drop one of them fo...

Re: Rhys' best game for the club
Interesting that Rhys is starting to show promise. Could Richo be applying the same strategies that Port Power did with Westhoff as until last season he was also one that looked like a wasted talent. Really hope the kid realises that hard work is the key to being given the opportunity and whilst he ...

Josh's haircut not much difference to some the players that played in the 20's and 30's. Just google some images of guys like Coventry, Collier, Reynolds and shaved sides were all the rage. Seriously its the quality of the person not his friggin haircut.Maybe at this years draft camp they can inspec...

Still have my my woollen jumper my auntie bought me in 1972.The best years of my life having lived in the Northern suburbs and travelling by train getting to every game. Re: Jimmy and John and 'that' day...
It was a sad day for all but it was great to see Jimmy come back and play a couple of seasons at Dandy and then returning to be a regular senior player again. He was a real hard nut and quite often had to take guys bigger than himself.

Wow Jones added a bit of colour to the cause especially as we were'nt that successful he liked to fly the flag.We also never got to see the roughouse side of Dave Grainger who only played 3 games for us but was a renowned hitman in the SANFL for Port Adelaide.

Re: Maverick Weller (Rookie - Pick #20)
We always look to the older players for setting good examples and i think young Maverick showed a touch of class by grasping the idea of being de-listed and instead of paying out on his former club or himself he obviously figured out that actions speak louder than words by setting to out to prove ma...

Re: Finally Rid of Gieschen
Yes, there are a lot of mistakes and yes there are too many around the ball it can resemble a rugby union scrum depending on how far the umpire lets it go but the biggest difference from watching a few games from years gone by is that the rules and the interpretation were clear as we did'nt have as ...

Re: It wasn't pretty but it was an effective year
Ideally we would should be looking at an overall improvement with out setting to high a standard allowing for some of the youngsters to get the exposure required for them to learn that the season does not finish after one game. This whole process should not be rushed and allowed to develop. Anything...

Clearly demonstrated that the game was and always will be about him. How dare a professional footballer who was so fortunate to have been part of some special moments/times and payed handsomely to boot be so critical. Bucks could have, no should have ended his career a couple of years ago.How many f...

Re: Jimmy to re-establish himself
Wonder if he could be used up forward? His got a nice long kick and strong body . Gwilt is only 26 so still bit of footy left on him From memory he played a game against Port about 4 or 5 years ago as a forward and kicked 3 from fair distance. Could become a good mismatch for some sides playing as ...

Re: Jimmy to re-establish himself
If we are to believe most, Jimmy probably should'nt get a game but lets be a bit logical that we have not had much depth and the fact that our defenders played on opponents that were way bigger made it difficult for these guys to play their natural game. You would like to think that the challenge wi...
