Re: Big-bodied midfielders

I don't think its the big bodies more so the match hardening and the ability to absorb the contest consistently in quick succession and over the whole game. The Pendlebury's and Swan's have done this for a while whereas our blokes are way below that level.Basically it comes down to match hardening an...

Re: Bontempelli v Billings

In fairness to both players it helps when the players around you are have a bit more experience. Even though the Bulldogs weren't great last year they probably had a bit more experience around the ground than we had so he already had an advantage. Both players will be great for their clubs. I person...

Re: Markworth - Serious Shoulder Injury

I just hope the kid isn't a recent version of Jarryd Allen.Poor kids who show promise and get tested both physically and mentally. Even with today's medical advances an individual will question as to why he should keep going. I hope both he and the club see it out and he gets a few years of football...

Re: Mediocre Players with Cult Status

Russell Jeffries, Glen Middlemiss, Robert " Scratcher " Neal, Neil Mcleod (from Fitzroy) Bradley Gotch, David Winbanks, Dean Herbert all found their football career continuing thanks to our lack of success and desperation to win back in the day. Thank god our current systems don't allow fo...

Re: Mediocre Players with Cult Status

DAX anyone remember? rucked in the 2nds, maybe early '90s -- not sure if he ever played a senior game a real old fashioned bare-knuckle enforcer barrell chested, buzz cut, looked about 40. Craig Dax, was going to be our saviour.Used to win a combined Mountain Man competition that was based on stami...

Re: St Kilda announcement - Tues morning - Dare

Lion has brands that include cheese, fruit drinks and beers such as Corona,Hahn,Steinlager,James Boags just to name a few. They also have the Big M milk range, ciders, wine.yoplait yoghurt so i'm sure you would be able to find something in that vast range that will help support the club.

Re: Petrenko

Neither player worth much.Saad plays well inside 50 mtr arc with no other strengths where as Petrenko has pushed up the ground and been reasonable. Out of the two i would prefer Petrenko but we must be desperate if we are considering either to boost our lists. We need to understand that Saad will ne...

Re: Is Pelchen sticking around?

Can someone please enlighten me as to Mr Pelchen's background in football. What qualifies him to have held such power at various clubs. At the end of the day its a no brainer that we will have to recruit some of the best talent so any one of us posters could probably identify that and at half the cos...

Any thoughts on Taylor Hunt from Geelong.

Have just read that Taylor Hunt could be looking at other options. Not too bad a player who could play a run with role and through the middle.Seems to have good pace and comes from a side that has built a successful culture.Turns 24 this November and would fit in well.

Re: Cam O’Shea to St Kilda ? Gwilt to Crows?

Good get,has been unable to string too many games due to niggling injuries and Port do have an abundance of similar players which has made it hard being in and out of the side.

Re: Speeeennncccceeeeer!!

Here's how he sits amongst goalkicking Saints debuts that I can find: Milan Faletic: 5.5 against Footscray in 1981 George Young: 4.2 against Melbourne in 1973 Mark Jackson: 4.1 against Hawthorn in 1981 David Legge: 3.3 against Hawthorn in 1974 Geoff Cayzer: 3.2 against Footscray in 1967 Paul Caller...

Re: Unconvincing Kids

I think we are all on the same page but because of the mess our lists have been left in these kids have not been surrounded by an abundance of quality which means a good footballer at the Saints now has to try and be a great footballer. It would be interesting to see how some of these guys would have...

What's happened to Joey Montagna

I know its been a tough season for all but from what i've seen he is nowhere near the player he was. He still gets the pill but does not appear to be as damaging as in the past. There have been a few posts regarding his fitness, maybe being let go or just being tagged. Is it just me or does he seem ...

Re: Speeeennncccceeeeer!!

I think any player kicks a lazy three goals in his first game must have something going for him. Forget that Chaplin got heaps because the football gets chipped around the back line so much these days that the stats just keep racking up.As most have said consensus was that we did not kick to him tha...

Re: Seb Ross

I think his past month has been really good for his confidence. He's not super quick but seems adept on both sides of the body which is a bonus when you aren't quick and play in the midfield. He works hard both ways as well. The self belief that Richo talks about is directed at guys like Seb and Jack...

Re: Come Home Luke Ball - all is forgiven ?

Don't need to sacrifice a spot on our list with someone that was slow and is even slower this year. Good footballer but lets not waste spots on the list. If we were to go down that path go all out for a player that still has 3 or 4 good years left and one that has pace. We need to address weaknesses...

Re: Jarryn Geary ... Cats target?

I think that Geary should be kept for the following reason. He was drafted during the Ross Lyon era which did not really develop younger players therefore was a bit player then we had SW who really was not exactly respected by the players so i'd suggest let Richo have a crack at trying to get him rig...

The thing that was noticeable from the start was the ferocity in which they attacked the pill and their opponent. If you bring effort and intensity you don't always win but you make it hard for the opposition to steady. The other thing that people have spoken about was how the skill improved. If you c...

It was fantastic and just need to have a self belief i...
