Re: Billings
I still believe the Bont would have been a better get. I understand they are two different types of players but he has made far more of an impact than Billings who i think still plays footy the way he did at TAC. Too cute.

Re: HELLO...IT HASN'T WORKED
I hope they aren't paying Ben Dixon! and as far as structure hows about telling players to play on a bit of instinct instead of giving them stupid running patterns and guarding fresh air. The game is simple, see ball get ball, kick. We obviously can't do any of these so i don't know what they work o...

Re: Our best Back Pocket in the past 50 years
Hard to pick as back in the day the back pocket would mind the second or resting rover whereas in recent years its a free for all because of rotations and forward structures. Wayne Judson probably of that era and in more recent times Frankie Peckett.

My son works at Calder Cannons and watched Clark play Half back flank with a deliberate hard tag and still amassed thirty possesions.

I like the idea of Clavarino 33 as he could become a new millenium Robert Elphingstone who was a great defender during the eighties when we really struggled.

Re: Noyle Mitchell - Cloke vs. Plugger
Even on a bad day Plugger kicked more than Cloke. I don't know how much footy he watches but you could only be mesmerised by the big fella's strength, marking and goal kicking skills. As a football supporter for over fifty years i will give credit where its due but i can't honestly recall Clokey cap...

Re: Bruce Accuracy
Never read so much rubbish as on this topic, obviously written by people who have never had to compete athletically at any level. Here we have Josh Bruce not a huge forward by any standard who every week has to take either the number 1 or 2 defender. So he has to compete against very good strong pl...

Re: Our Report Card Is In And We Got An F
I'm not disappointed. Compare this year's draw against last year (an easy run home in 2016) and our injury list this year against last year - no, not disappointed. Yes, we have plenty of room for improvement, much of which has been identified and acknowledged. I am stumping up for my 2018 membershi...

Re: Jarryn Geary to captain St Kilda
I honestly don't think he is any better or worse with regard to skill level, this year, compared to any season since 09 (where he held his spot in 16 straight wins) he was a RS nominated player who looked comfortable at the level for a young player and looked above VFL comfortably. He is probably g...

Re: Steele requests trade
Jarrod Pickett (Pick 4) Able to play as a small forward or through the midfield, Jarrod Pickett impressed GWS scouts with his running ability and smarts around goal. At 178cm and 76kg, he might have been a tad small and a touch raw to play senior footy last year but looks likely to get an opportuni...

Re: The 'Rain on the Parade' Thread.
The draw thing is a bit of a myth. Yeah, we now move into the middle group of 6 teams, but if you look at who that is, i dont think 2017 will be the horrow draw we think.... Dogs will improve, as will probably Melbourne but they are pea hearts. Port are a question mark, Collingwood have a decent mi...

Re: North ditching everyone (Dal included)
I know he holds the games record but have a look at Hawthorn. Luke Hodge 4 flags, contracted, Josh Gibson 3 flags, contracted, Shaun Burgoyne, 3 flags, contracted. How much success has North had whilst Harvey achieved "HIS" accolades? ZERO. Don't agree with the way it was handled or the ti...

I don't agree with the way he was treated or the timing but at the end of the day collectively how successful have North been during his career. The way i see it footbal has become such a business that there is no room for the sentimentality. Sure, he has achieved a lot as an individual but he is no...

Unfortunately Sipper will only ever be a good VFL footballer. I understand that he suffered with shoulder problems but did he really play any stand out games, quarters that would suggest he would be a regular player. Personally i think he is too slow.

Re: Skill v Effort
All the skill in the world doesn't mean you don't need to put in. Effort comes an inbuilt desire to win contests at any given cost. The will and the need to chase, tackle, smother and beating your opponent can only be generated from within. A good motivational coach sometimes can draw that will out of...

Maybe i'm not getting it but how could you possibly be starring as forward in a side where the midfield is mediocre and by the time the ball does come in and the way its delivered you are usually outnumbered and crowded in the contest.Tony Lockett he ain't but cut the kid some slack. I think in fairness to some of the defence, you will always look ordinary when you don't win and control the ball in the midfield. No different to last week in the middle,we got smashed so just the sheer weight of entries will create scoring opportunities for our opposition and added pressure for th...

Re: changes for next week
I would bring in Goddard at CHB. Big body and looked comfortable in NAB cup. We need a stronger marking option in our defensive half. Chips and Dempster have been carrying our defence for too long and need to be relieved of some of the grunt stuff.Let the kids have a crack.
