Re: Saints petition !
Regardless of who we trade with in future, I for one hope that we continue to conduct our dealings with privacy, discretion and due respect for rival clubs, just as we have done during this draft period. Playing out deals in the media is very unprofessional indeed! P.S. To trade with the bombers onc...

Re: Carlisle "scandal"
I heard an interesting point from KB on his program this morning. He said that until Carlisle begins training with us he is not a Saints player, but since he has been traded to us, he is no longer a Bombers player either, despite ingesting illicit substances while he was still on their list! So tech...

Re: Carlisle "scandal"
Caveat emptor bombre! We should have learnt from the Lovett fiasco. No doubt they knew of his proclivities prior to trading Carlisle (not to mention his manager). He has "cut" a four-year deal with us, but he will have to work very hard to gain the respect of Saints fans now, but even hard...

Re: Jake Carlisle
If Rice and Freeman come good, then you'd clearly look back on this period as a good one. Re: Freeman - I wonder how many players who have consistently missed games (or seasons in Freeman's case) due to chronic soft-tissue injuries, have nevertheless managed to resurrect/finally kick-off their care...

Re: S Baker mark II
Good to see our ex coach has taken all his traits to the Dockers. Retire Baker before telling him, delist Crowley without telling him. hahahaha hahahaha indeed, you stole most of my thunder and this smacks of Ross Lyon circa 2011 for us. I said as soon as Lyon (who by the way was a great coach for ...

Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
Regardless of the outcome of this trading period, it has been a pleasure to witness the professional way our club is going about it all, rather than airing our dirty linen in public like the shambolic outfit from Essendon!

Re: Is the Club Being Pig Headed?
Assuming that Carlisle only wants to play for the Saints, these are the ways for him to get to St Kilda. 1. St Kilda acquiesce and hand over pick #5. 2. Essendon acquiesce and accept St kilda's current offer - unsure what that is. If it is just 2nd round pick then we are just as delusional as Essen...

Gotta say Bruce's mark looked better live from that flank than on video replay, but I think Nic Nat will just pip him due to his pack-busting, dare I say it, Kosi-style grab!

Anything more than a third round pick would be a bonus for us for Jack Steven, after all, that is where we got him in the draft in 2006!

Gone: Sipposs (slow, goes missing), Schneider/Ray (retired), White (lazy), Simpkin (no skill), Wright (same), Saunders (same), Shenton (loose defender)
Keep: Markworth (pace), Lee (trade White, Lee has better skills than Delaney), Saad (rookie), Minchington (better than Saunders)

Re: Round 22 Adam Goodes
Is it really that difficult to identify where racist insults are being hurled from the crowd and remove and ban such behaviour, which is appalling to everyone who hears it? I do think that there are a small minority of Neanderthals who do boo Goodes based on his racial background and this is never t...

the 1975 game vs the tigers was my first saints game and dad was a tigers man, but I became hooked on the saints due to that comeback win!

if we were 55 points down vs the mayflowers back in 1937 at quarter time, it must have been one hell of a breeze that we were kicking against that day! Is anyone old enough to remember? Is anyone old enough to remember and still awake at this time of night too?

Re: Solid Foundation forming
I think we can be on the cusp of playing finals again by 2017 as long as we fast track the development of our mids and key forwards. McCartin and Bruce, with possibly White roaming in the dare I say it Buddy role up forward, getting great service from Steven, Dunstan, Acres, Billings, McKenzie et al.

Massive outs for carlton this week
It looks like Judd (shoulder), Gibbs and Yarran (both suspension) will all be missing against us in Wellington.
I guess Carlton couldn't afford to pay them all penalty rates on a Public Holiday!
I'm getting off the fence and tipping us now.

Re: Big Boy McEvoy
Re two rucks being played by us, Hickey is versatile enough to drift forward and have an impact, while also having an impact in the ruck and around the ground, Longer can only do the second of those three things. That is why we can't play both of them in the same side. Hickey with Bruce as relief (i...

Yep, that's the Footscray game you're thinking of. And that Fitzroy game at the Junction Oval had one of the most amazing third quarters of all time. Goals after goals. The two Sidebottom brothers were handpassing to each other at one stage and they were playing for opposing clubs. Max Crow played ...

Re: Jumper Number discussion
All new players should fill the available numbers as they are drafted so.... 4 - McCartin 8 - Goddard 28 - McKenzie 32 - Lonie 33 - Sinclair 36 - Saad 37 - Payne Unless other players who showed something last season want to move up in the pecking order: e.g. Shenton 39 to 28, Weller 44 to 33. Acres,...

Re: Saints games in 2015
What do people think the club will do to make Sunday twilight games appealing for members next year? This seems to be our designated timeslot for many home games next year. As for my hopes for next year, I think our draw will yield a similar number of wins to this year, but I hope our percentage im...

Re: Saints games in 2015
I have a 3-game membership and have done since 2010 after I realised that night/twilight games were so awkward to attend, limiting me to only 6 games that year. I don't go to night games at all due to work commitments now, which leaves me with only one home game to attend this season in Round 1 vs G...

Re: Saints games in 2015
I see 3 wins for us in this draw, GWS in Round 1 and Melbourne in Round 11 and 17.
Anything more will be a bonus for us I think.
I wonder which game will be the members compensation game for Wellington?
Perhaps the Melbourne game at the G?
