Re: How good are Geelong and how far away are we .
This narrative that we beat Geelong during the season meaning we aren’t far away is laughable. We also flogged Richmond by 15 goals the season they started their 3 flags in 4 years run. How did we perform over the following seasons? We are seduced by the occasional good performance at Marvel Stadium...

Re: The one area we must dominate the Cats
It’s the midfield that will dictate the result. Unfortunately at the moment we are relying on King & Higgins to kick the bulk of our score. If we don’t find more avenues to goal, 8-11 goals will be our end result. Our midfielders just aren’t dangerous enough. None of them are good kicks with the...

Re: Dan Hannebery's recruitment and retention on our list is the epitome of why we will never win a premiership.
No doubt the Hannebery deal has been a massive fail & sums up the Einstein’s at St.Kilda. I feel the more late indictment is our ability to give up or lose players to premiership contenders for virtually nothing on a yearly basis. Currently Hickey & McCartin both are at Sydney. Stanley for p...

Nick Coffield only 2 seasons ago finished in our top 5 in the b&f. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/steele-wins-saints-best-and-fairest-in-a-landslide-20201011-p5640w.html We played finals for the first time in 10 years. Nick Coffield was 21 when he produced this result. Due to injuries and a...

Re: the evidence is clear: - umpires do decide a game!
I wish just one day perhaps in a couple of finals, we’d get a run from the umpires like the dogs. Last year at the Gabba I believe 7 of their 10 goals against us came from a free kick. It was funny that today it was Essendon though Ask Doggies supporters about the 09 prelim final! It’s amusing that...

Re: Battle 'testing the waters'
Comparing Darling to Josh Battle is akin to the comparison of a Holden to a Datsun 121. After 2 years in the system Darling had kicked 77 career goals before the age of 21. He was an extremely good player from a young age and still remains that way. Apart from being a similar height, Battle isn’t el...

Re: Saints to re-jig game plan.
Remember when we bought in Michael Gardiner admittedly on a lot less Kanga. He’s played 3 games in 2006 at West Coast. His first year with us he didn’t play a game before 9 in 2008. I cannot recall that far back, I’d imagine he didn’t have anyone supporting or believing at 30 he’d be of any use. In ...

Re: Matthew Parker
I thought we let Parker go to early as well but with a tight salary cap and possible lack of opportunities I understand. Those that bag out Kent need to watch the blocking he does to allow King space from Andrews on Friday night. His big backside deliberately was placed in front of Andrews subtly a ...

Re: Complete lack of match fitness
Yes it does. Lack of fitness will see an increase with injuries & errors under duress. Players as the game increases use the ball with less clarity, almost like you’ve been on the beers. I know this first hand with my sport cricket, I’m the king of the 25 each week with a brain fade dismissal al...

Re: Complete lack of match fitness
Alarm bells had to be ringing when Hannebery took out the Christmas time trial. I text my old man halfway through the 2nd quarter that we are done. You could see the lack of ability to get to contest and skill errors under fatigue increase. I’ve lost count this year even in wins like the north game ...

Skunk is going at 65.25% accuracy over his career. 201 goals & 107 behinds. I will say that skunk does have a tendency to miss vital shots but overall 65% is quite solid.

Loved Sinclair’s game, rarely wastes a disposal & often parked himself in front of hawkins in the first half. For a small bloke I was pleasantly surprised with that part of his game.

Re: Max King to CHB
There is a great big myth that Nick Riewoldt was a poor kick when he first started. That couldn’t be further from the truth, in fact he was a very good kick. To break it down this is Roo’s career accuracy. 2001-2004 - 120 goals & 69 points 63.49% 2005 - 2008 - 200 goals & 135 behinds 59.75%...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Power Round 6 2021
Right now early last quarter and hard ball gets are 112-109. Uncontested possessions are 256-131. We’ve won 5 quarters for the year. We are kidding themselves if they think they’re fit enough to play league football.

Re: King’s kicking
He was up on the wing with Timmy Membrey for a lot of the third quarter last night as they pressed up. Every time we kicked it out in his direction he was outmanoeuvred or someone 5 metres in front would mark. This could be a set up thing as all our defenders could see when they kicked the ball forw...

Re: King’s kicking
31 goals & 27 behinds with quite a few out on the fulls too. We have a lot more bigger issues than King’s accuracy. What concerns me is his 2nd half fade outs. Last week, he kicked his first ever career 3rd quarter goal. His football off short breaks falls away particularly after halftime. Is he...

I sat on the bottom deck on the Docklands side of the ground. Late in the first quarter I text my dad that we will lose by 10+ goals. You could clearly see when every player was coming to the bench they’d be almost walking as if they were climbing Everest. On the flip side the tigers blokes were spr...
