Re: Norf... Danger game

I don't get the standard arguments on this site. When we are playing a team that lost the week before it is all "They will come out firing, they will be angry they lost." Yet when we lose it is "We are looking fragile, we are not performing well." We have lost 2 games by 7 points...

Re: Some good news

Cleared to resume full training doesn't mean cleared to play a competitive game even at Sandy.
He will need a couple of full weeks training before a couple of games at Sandy then up to the Seniors.

Re: Is it time to play Row as a Key forward

Rowan as a key forward is wasting his talent as he is only average at the position. Rowan is almost your quintessential follower, it is his ability around the ground that hurts sides not necessarily his tap work. Campbell is a good tap ruck but his influence outside of the ruck contest is minimal. I...

Re: Playing finals

I believe we are a 6 to 9 side and I am fairly happy with that. I think there are a number of teams who are clearly better than us, Melbourne, Geelong, Collingwood, Brisbane and Port. We fall into the next block of sides with Carlton, Western Bulldogs and Sydney. We got over Freo but were definitely...

Re: Votes v Blues

5 - Sinclair, his move to the midfield was the catalyst for our ascendancy in the second half. 4 - Hill, was good all game. 3 - Ross, he just keeps working and presenting week in week out. 2 - Owens, tough at the ball and the man and gave Rowan a chop out in the ruck. 1 - Clark, kept us in the clear...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Blues Round 6 2023

The disposal stats are a lot less relevant than the scoreboard. I would love to see the disposal stats broken down by where the stats are gathered. We allow sides to flick the ball around in their half of the ground. A lot of players get cheap possessions against us in the back half but we put an ab...

Re: I just hate booing

The only players that I understand the booing were Luke Ball and Jamie Cripps. That is because of the way that they went about it. They wanted to be traded out and refused to talk to any other club other than their chosen one giving the Saints no options. Cripps was particularly galling as he said h...

Re: Crowd this weekend

No it wouldn't have been our biggest money spinner that was round 3. It is a sell out because it is a double header which will always bring in bigger crowds. This is particularly true for people traveling to Adelaide for the somewhat silly named Gather Round. Being a double header means there are fo...

Re: Does Hayes get another year .

Yes, but some players are more prone to suffering from injury than others. Most players have niggling injuries all the time, some play through it and others simply can't. Some guys cop a hit and are out for a game others get the same hit and are out for a month. That is the difference between an inj...

Re: Does Hayes get another year .

Interesting comment that Jones, DMac and Coff are in trouble because they can't get on the park but keep Bytel. I like Bytel but he is one of the most injury prone players we have. This last one was bad luck but it may come down to how long it takes him to get over it. Maybe offer him a rookie contr...

Re: Ben No, Ah

The biggest issue for King last night was the game plan Gold Coast were playing. When they brought the ball in it was bomb to a contest with him and Levi going up together to try to exploit our perceived lack of height. However, what really happened was they got in each others way and made it easier...

Re: The quandary

Steele in for Byrnes, who drops back to sub. Yes Byrnes has been great but he is last in the midfield rotation and his pace coming into the game fresh as a sub is a weapon. King is in for Cordy. Either Battle or Caminiti can give Marshall a break. Membrey comes in for Paton. This will allow Owens to...

Re: Votes v Suns

5 - Wilkie, the half back line was imperious. They just kept repelling everything that was thrown their way led by Wilkie. 4 - Owens, we have a true warrior on our hands. 3 - Sinclair, just kept running and presenting all night. 2 - Stocker, another piece of that half back line that was impenetrable...

Re: Prediction Rd 3

Well, pleased I was completely wrong in my prediction. Really enjoyable night at the ground, the middle section of the last quarter was some of the best footy we have played in a while. After they drew level I said to my companions at the game that we were losing every contest and looked slow and ti...

It was clearly over the boundary line. Watching at the ground it looked over and the replay just confirmed it.

Re: Tasmania. Why?

I love Tassie it is a great place to visit but there is no justification for giving them their own team beyond pure sentimentality. Put them in Hobart and you will get 20k to a game put them in Launceston and you will be lucky to get 15k. Tasmanian's already watch AFL so giving them a team does not ...

They are definitely our bogie team.
I really don't like our chances against them and we also seem to do poorly in high profile matches.
I really hope I am proven wrong and that the boys do us proud but I have a bad feeling about this game.
I will still be there with bells on.

Re: Changes Rnd 3

Steele is out, Windhager comes in. The only other change I would make is bring in Bytel as an extra mid rotation for Higgins. I think we have one too many small forwards and would be better served with a HFF who is there to cycle through the midfield. If Webster is available he comes in, Bytel goes ...

Re: Dougal Howard

Howard is rarely beaten by his opponent. He has great closing speed which is why he is such a valuable defender. If we didn't have him defending we would be torn apart by the big forwards of the competition. Our defense for last few years has been our strength and he has been a key component of that.
