Yeah, but Harves was a fairly lazy trainer!

Re: Was this our worst ever trade?
Andrew Lovett for pick 16 in 2009 and a 1M contract which we had to pay out was pretty woeful! We knew enough about his character to stay away! A known woman basher, alcohol issues, woeful trainer and inconsistent performances at best. At the time I thought we paid major overs for him... Thought he...

Re: Was this our worst ever trade?
Missing from comment is that Brooks was Drafted by Port Adelaide at 15, but due to the rucking depth of Port Adelaide did not play a game He was however regarded very highly as a forward/ruck at 198cm and 95kg - very athletic with a decent jump So Port Adelaide were nurturing him and sorry to lose ...

Re: Dangerous gun midfielders or onballers
Winmar? Yes, of course - don't know why I didn't think of him immediately. Didn't he kick 8 goals whilst filling in at Full Forward, for big Tony? He did amazingly well there, when you consider he must have been the lightest player ever to have played Full Forward at this level - especially if you ...

Re: The Seb Ross discussions
Very polarising player isn’t he IMO, like most of the debates that have endured over an age... the correct view to this one is somewhere in the middle. Ross has had a good career at St.Kilda... some may even say excellent. He’s not going to be delisted, he’s still in the top 22 etc etc The flip sid...

Re: Was this our worst ever trade?
the trade result on paper was a disaster - yes but spider burnt a few bridges at the saints I know that Spider was an A grade corkhead and a disruptive influence, however I still believe he could've made the difference in 2004-5. GT couldn't wait to get rid of him. Bundy wasn't a fan either. Barry ...

Re: Saints unlikely to redraft Paddy
I see similarities to Will Pucovski both very talented sportsmen but very susceptible to minor head trauma that leads to concussion. Both have put so much effort to get to a point where livelihood pretty much depend on it only to be crimpled by a curse that just won't let them reach their full pote...

Re: Young guns who can take the next step
Young guns I want to see take the next step. Max King. Hope he has honed his set-shot kicking technique over summer. All he is going to need to be the complete package. Hunter Clark. He has earned a go in the midfield and I hope he is not relegated to HBF to make way for Crouch or Jones or anyone e...

Disregarding the Crouch suspension, I think this is our senior and reserve squad B: Paton, Howard, Wilkie HB: Coffield, Carlisle, Long C: Hill, Steele, Jones HF: Billings, Marshall, Gresham F: Butler, King, Membrey Foll: Ryder, Crouch, Clark Int: Battle, Hannebery, Higgins, Ross B: Highmore, Frawle...

Re: Round One team ...
You needn't listen to me, but I can say Ive talked to coaches, Ive watched Alabaskis, he has potential but as I said weeks ago the "dream" is that he comes on strong and rucks a full season in the vfl with late season emergency in seniors. But its at best 20-30% likely. He's not ready to ...

Re: The New List
I can not understand why only two draft picks were taken. it does not make sense to have delisted Shane Savage and Johnathan Marsh unless they were planning to take more. I read something recently that Gags wanted to go into the season with 1 list spot to grab someone mid year. I think it is a good...

Re: Matthew McLeod-Allison
The 2020 draft came and went. It was a marathon instead of a sprint which made the draw much less of a spectacle than it normally is. 2020 is the strangest year I can remember, in every way, which makes everything the new normal. But I’m pretty happy with who we picked and I reckon you should be as...

Re: News - Seeing it differently: Inside the Saints’ draft plans
Go for Max Heath if still available at our first pick. Nothing against the kid but if we take him with our first pick we have lost the plot. If he is still there at our second pick by all means take Bowey. Imagine him in the centre for a ball up and he ends up against Cripps of the Carlton variety....

Re: Saints unlikely to redraft Paddy
I am really conflicted on this. While I can see why he wants to try to resurrect his career and I would love to see him be successful I also sort of hope nobody drafts him. With his concussion history I can only see the situation ending badly. I wish the club or the AFL could offer him a role behin...

Re: News - Seeing it differently: Inside the Saints’ draft plans
But is he a "like-for-like" with Lonie?? If so, then surely there is only room for one of them and we already have committed to Lonie. Lonie is a small forward. Nothing else. Bowey is an outside mid, or if you like, a rover, just like his dad was. And Bowey Snr didn't half like to kick go...

Re: James Frawley a Saint
The Frawley family would be so happy seeing him in Saints colours. James will always be thinking about his uncle every time he puts on that Saints jumper. I have a feeling that Chipper will push himself and his team mates all the way to the pointy end in 2021. Can you imagine a ‘Frawley’ up on the ...
