Re: Mason Wood

Out Jonathan Marsh In Mason Wood Slight upgrade but purely a ready made depth option I suspect. If Ryder goes down and Marshall plays full time ruck, Wood may come into the mix as a replacement forward depending on how King , Membrey & Battle are travelling Yes, because we got burnt at our seco...

Does that mean that during the week, that he's only around 190 cm and only about 85 kgs? I mean, like in The Hulk - Dr Bruce Ba...

Re: Mason Wood

Another potential bit of diversity, having a Mason in the group. Goal celebration with a special hand shake? Always looked likely from afar and a who knows with a new coach and a top medical team. And its only an invite - its up to Mason to RSVP and bring something to the table. Yeah, not everythin...

Re: Mason Wood

Putting list needs aside for a moment, could he be more effective as a lead up forward in a team that will deliver the ball to him on a platter. Is Ratts going for a much more mobile forward line that has speed and endurance rather than stay at home power forwards. I would think that both your 2 st...

Re: Inject any past Saint into the current top 22

Was Baldock a good contested mark I’ve never seen a highlight of him taking marks? They exist, he took them. But at his height, you wouldn't expect it to be a strategy that he or the coach subscribed to against taller opponents, not when he had one touch skills at his feet, immense power in his leg...

Lenny Hayes every day! Agree 100%. I was with a bunch of Pie supporters a couple of years ago and I posed the question ...if you could have 1 St Kilda player who would it be? Lenny Hayes was the unanimous choice. Smart, talented, tough as nails and a great leader. Totally agree! Although I still th...

Re: Sydney Stack - current devil, future saint?

Ah, the cautionary tale of Harley Bennell. High maintenance players are a liability, whoever they are. Sydney's actions are high on the ill disciplined and irresponsible scale and not a first offence - pattern of dishonesty to those that have given him the benefit of opportunities. If there is any ...

Re: Sort of News

My mystical mate tells me that Ratts has openly discussed the movement of several players to new positions. Im not sure this is news? I guess several of us are wondering if or when: Gresh gets a midfield run? Clark gets a midfield run? Ross becomes a permanent tagger? Geary slips into a small forwa...

Re: Was this our worst ever trade?

Missing from comment is that Brooks was Drafted by Port Adelaide at 15, but due to the rucking depth of Port Adelaide did not play a game He was however regarded very highly as a forward/ruck at 198cm and 95kg - very athletic with a decent jump So Port Adelaide were nurturing him and sorry to lose ...

Re: Dangerous gun midfielders or onballers

Robert Harvey is definitely underrated!!! Especially when you hear things like his greatest asset was his endurance. I would say he was a little more than a guy who could run He won the footy, was one touch, was creative, elite handballer, rarely missed a target by foot, was powerful, strong and su...

Re: Inject any past Saint into the current top 22

Couldn’t go past Lockett. Only problem would be that he is now 54 years old. But Lockett to FF, Marshall CHF. King to second ruck alongside Ryder. Understand what you're saying, but King to second ruck is like taking your Rolls Royce to work, to pick up bricks. I know, but he has to make way for Lo...

Re: Inject any past Saint into the current top 22

Yes the possibilities are endless There is very little rationale evidence as to why one wouldn’t pick a Tony Lockett or a Robert Harvey in just about any scenario but IMO neither would be the perfect choice for this team. A new Nick Riewoldt too would be an incredible addition... But personally rig...

Re: Inject any past Saint into the current top 22

Absolutely skeptic. Winmar seemed to usually play at either half forward or wing. Would have been nice to to see him more in the midfield and perhaps resting up forward. Would love him in our current top 22! My favorite player ...in my fav quartet of Burkey, Harvs, and Louie . Last year, I would ha...
