The trouble with NGA kids is that we cannot match a bid until pick 40 so if these guys are guns they will go before then.
Northern states have no such restrictions.
We were lucky with Owens & Windy as they went after pick 20 which was the bar that year.

Re: Sandy v Bullants
So B.M. did Ross have any input with the team /coach or just an over the fence observer?
Very Interesting.

After the knee concern last night does Roma miss next week ? Ross mentioned a couple of weeks ago that he will need a break at some stage, to me seems logical. That is not taking a win against NM as a given I expect it to be a battle, although if we are going to be any good this year, we need to bea...

Re: Phillipou Close to Signing
If he’s such a dud how is another team going to give us 2 first round picks?
Was it this time last year, that Nas was homesick and heading back to SA at seasons end?
I’d say if he hasn’t signed by say round 12 it’s looking more doubtful that he’s staying.

On Howard I think it’s a long way from one game at Sandy a couple of weeks ago to playingPA in Adelaide.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 7 2024
I thought the umpire were shockingly inconsistent , it’s just that the 50/50 debatable frees Port seemed to get more paid their way.
I’d like to see the afl actually look at a full game and explain the holding the ball/ dropping the ball rule, I don’t think I’m that dumb but it’s got me buggared.

Personally I’d like to see King at chf, Membrey leading out of ff and Caminiti/Sharman playing 3rd tall.
Having said that I think the experts seem to say Collingwood’s small mobile forward line was a bit part to beating PA last week.

Re: AFL exposure for young players
I remember years ago hearing thati as part of how Sydney develop young players is to give them a taste early then put them back to the reserves .
They identify what area/s they need to improve and work with the development coaches then next opportunity they are more ready to go

Wasn’t that long ago when McRae copped a bit of stick for focussing on himself and not giving the opposition ( us) any credit for beating them

Re: Injuries have derailed our season
Lack of basic skill resulting in turnovers in the first quarter resulted in the run on and lead.
We were never going to get that back.
Let’s face it half that team wouldn’t have played had we had a full list to select from ,we have some depth but not that much.

Re: Phillipou Close to Signing
You’d have to assume both Adelaide clubs are in Pou’s ear, my guess he wants to see how he goes a bit longer. As far as trading players I think we are too skinny on talent to trade any out we need to add to what we have. On one of those shows the journos seem to reckon Collingwood have salary cap sp...

Re: Garcia. Great Debut
I thought he went great today and appeared to be starting at the centre bounce a few times.
In reference to Philipou ,not a knock on him , but if he wants more midfield time then a couple of whole games in midfield at Sandy might be the go, that’s probably what someone like Geelong would do.

Re: Trade King
I think he needs to get in the game more , a couple of games ago he was taking marks up the wing then going back deep and played ok. Our poor skills were on display today. On the broadcast someone suggested giving him a run in the ruck. Compare him to Joe Daniher who goes unseen but plays a lot bett...

Re: Saints once again under appreciated by the media
I think they forgot we have players unavailable last week they were bleating about Essendon edge beating us and how good they are going to be ,this week Richmond had a good win they jumped on the bus then when they lost a couple including Lynch they claim the under strength status.

Re: Changes for tge Richmond at Gather Round.
I usually think of the sub being someone like Jones who can come on add run and impact particularly as his body doesn’t seem to handle full games continually. Could we use Campbell as the sub with the plan to come on in second half not to replace Roma but support ? On Lobb does that put a pencil thr...

Who do you replace him with?
In the past Clarke (injured but seems destined for mid) or Coffield (traded).
Cupboard is a little bear atm but all our defenders are under pressure while the game is played in the back half

I think the negativity is simply due to the feeling of most people is that we should have beaten Essendon and a bit of luck/whatever should have beaten Geelong.
3-0
We’d be flying by the seat of our pants but content.

I thought RMA was well on top first half but was worn out
Campbell as the sub would have been my choice as sub, kept Roma on but give him a break even sat him forward.
We lost that game.

Re: Crab watch
Acres use may have been similar to Battle, never settling in a position and in our case & Freo used as a second ruck.
I don’t think Carlton ever used him in the ruck but could be wrong.
Our only real successful second ruck was Roma / Ryder.

Re: Crouch out over 1 month - Knee
I’m never in favour of playing injured players but I’m nobody.
I think we have/had Crouch covered .
Look at the difference in Steele’s performance last year playing sore/injured compared to this year.
And on Collard I agree he wasn’t used properly and think selecting him was wrong.
