Re: No new newnes?
Newnes has played in the forward line since his concussion. Barely got a touch until this week. Worth persevering with for sure.

Re: Need to rebuild again
A rebuild isn't required just continue to build. The core of our next real tilt will still be the Ross/Newnes/Webster/Carlisle/Membrey/Dunstan generation, they are still only mid 20's. Right now we need cool heads in a crisis - that famous footy quote comes to mind "nothing is ever as bad as it...

Re: Blake Acres
Acres will always be subjected to this sort of "critique", because he looks lazy. Dal Santo had the exact same issue - when things were going good, it was all "natural and easy, nice to watch" etc, but when things aren't great its lazy and, as per the OP, lacks urgency. I call it...

Re: Does Membrey need a spell in the VFL?
Billings, when he had to act instinctively, delivered 2 beautiful passes during the game. he had no time to think about the kicks . I have absolutely no doubt that the yips are in the players' heads and that each week it just builds more pressure on them. I reckon it will eventually resolve itself....

Re: Clarko - Make Him an Offer He Can't Refuse!
how could we possibly pay Clarkson 2 let alone 2.5 million per year how this is where the pencilpushers earn their keep how could we do that The AFL is how. Don’t worry about what Gil says in the media about the bank being closed - they handed Roosy a blank cheque to get the Dees on the straight an...

Re: Hawks in no rush to extend Clarkson's contract: Kennett
not many people would walk out on a 2 year, $1/2 million contract. i could see myself being very self-deluded about my role in the problem for that kind of money. I'm hoping Richo would think longer term. If he wanted to work in the AFL system again, he would get out before the whole place was burn...

What a joke. And despite that, the staging from Jetta at the other end of the ground when we were having a shot for goal was even worse.shrodes wrote:AFL backs Hogan

Our Key Problem
We are unfit. Not sure which one it is, but we either don't have the will, or the endurance, to keep up with our opponents. At quarter time of the game on Good Friday, the siren blew and our guys were done - hands on heads, doubled over, blowing real hard etc. The Kangaroos were not - sure they were...

Do you remember the last time we were "not in a hurry to extend a contract"???
Bloke by the name of Lyon. Could coach a bit. Walked out the door if I remember correctly??
Richo's contract is inconsequential - the guy will walk if he doesn't think he can turn things around.

Re: What if Parkey S is right....?
C'mon now. Comparing the Hawks trading Mitchell and Lewsi with us trading Roo? They practically gave them away - Lewis, Mitchell, picks 54, 57, 68, and 72, in exchange for picks 48, 52, 66, 70, 88. They did it to release salary cap pressure to pay T.Mitchell and O'Meara. We had no reason to do so. ...

Re: Roberton.
Would be really easy for the Saints to put the pressure on Robbo to get back out there, and 10 years ago I'm sure they would have. Our game is better off today with the care the players are given. I saw his video on Twitter, he's clearly gutted about not being able to help out his mates, but the nex...

I don’t understand this at all. He looked dynamic enough in his 2 full JLT games. If he’s not dynamic enough after an 8 month preseason and 2 solid practice matches, he might not ever be dynamic enough again?? Add that to the reports from last weeks VFL that the guy could barely walk, and the writin...

Re: The great Saints Conspiracy
The results of the last 2 seasons have been very poor for the future our club. To be more precise, the Premiers of the last 2 years. The AFL, despite their pleas of "equalisation", do not care about that. Crowd numbers, dollars, TV ratings, sponsors, that's where the AFL's concerns lie. An...

Re: Sellers gives an explanation for our woes
How on earth would that geriatric fool know what’s happening in the inner sanctum of our club??? I don’t really care how it came about - all I care about was the fantastic effort the boys put in and how we back it up in Tassie next week. But if your using Mark McClure sharing whispers as gospel to p...

Some thoughts.... * Re-establish our presence back in Bayside We've been doing this for years, we never really left the Bayside. I don't live in the Bayside area and feel like I might as well support an interstate team, given the ignorance of the club to acknowledge support in the rest of Melb. * Le...

I would assume that it's based on their draft position - the pass mark for Pick 40 is less than that of Pick 18.desertsaint wrote:how is white a tick and dunstan not?

Re: Trade bait
Bruce would easily fetch us a pick in the teens - he’d be highly sort after by better teams. Imagine the Bombers having Daniher at FF, Hooker as a swingman and Bruce as 3rd tall/relief ruck.
Bruce would kick plenty if he got the supply the Crows forwards received last night.

Re: Age Article: Sloane and Gaff as the performance vehicles
The problem we have is attracting these players. Why would Sloane walk off the ground last night thinking “I just can’t deal with this slick ball movement, high scoring and efficient disposal, I’m moving to Moorabbin!!!” A club like ours, especially when we’re struggling on-field, will only ever be ...
