Re: Something old, something new.

That’s exactly it When we were poor, someone needed to be responsible Allan Richardson, Seb Ross, MAV Weller and Jack Newnes were to blame Not Woeful list management decisions that meant we had a lot of poor players on the list Poor recruiting Injuries to key players Poor player development We want...

5 wins with him, 2 losses without.
Probably a sound argument.

4 wins with him, 1 loss - vs Collingwood.

Re: Issues going forward

As I’ve said before. We recruited Crouch and Higgins at the end of 2020. Both were surplus to our needs Surplus to our needs? Higgins currently our best forward and Crouch our 2nd best mid this season? That's a ripper even for a Scolops. That’s probably why we’ll stay middle of the road if Snags is...

Re: Issues going forward

The long bombs into the forward line were happening from the get go. Wood did it. Ross did it. Crouch did it and even Sincs did it I find it amazing that people think it’s just the defenders fault which cost us the game. They made a few errors, but they weren’t the only reason we lost. I think our ...

If he’s done a reasonable job - why does he lose it?

To a 5 gamer??
Again, because Caminiti has been very good and is imo a better option than Cordy. Only 5 games, but is better than a stop gap, and may even hold his place when King comes back.

Re: Cordy is important to us structurally....

If Cordy’s role is so important- and he’s been so effective at it Why would he be replaced by King and/or Caminiti??? Sounds contradictory! Are they going to be playing his role of not getting a kick?? Or are they going to replace him because they might actually contribute??? Come on BM, you know t...

Those w@nkibg on about Cordy’s stats don’t mention that Allir did sweet FA for the game There’s a reason the coach mentioned him in the presser but again some watch footy with jar of captain obvious pulls next to them He did t get 30 so he must be Shiite Poor thinking I trust the coach over wanna b...

Re: Cordy is important to us structurally....

The game would have had a different result if Cordy was on in Q4 for our long bomb entries. Yeah of course, because all the long bombs in the first 3 quarters were being marked by Cordy, so why wouldn’t he have continued doing that. Well thought out No No. That's not his role - doesn't have to mark...

Aside from players we went back to old habits bombing late We’ve been really good at lowering eyes into 50 Is there a risk when King is back we just look for that easy bomb.. Yes, I reckon coaches have to prepare extensively for King's return. Bomb it to King should only be the very last option, st...

Never turn out winning racehorses, footballers are no different. An easier week on the track, I'd suggest. The other thing is that the coaching and system is what won us the game but we can't ignore the signs Did Brad Crouch look like the player we saw in the first five weeks? Don't confuse a fanta...

Re: Cordy is important to us structurally....

In hindsight, probably should have left him on for the last quarter, subbed say NWM who was hobbling, the game had reached desperation stage and Saints were just bombing it in, only for Port to mark. His height would have been handy. According to the takeaway stats index his stat count was 9, includ...

I mean.. what is selection integrity? Is there a formula? Is it the same for each player? Meantime you get a guy who played and contributed to a win in Round one and because of injury he is replaced. He returns from injury with a dominant display at VFL level, then is made sub for a couple of weeks...

I'm not the fkn coach? He showed signs of fatigue in the game against Collingwood. He's not a fkn machine If I was coach and head of selection, I wouldn't have played him against Carlton No, the sports and science gurus at the Saints have kept a close eye on Crouchy's CE's and SME levels and they a...

Good advice from RTB here: https://www.examiner.com.au/story/8164482/lyon-urges-caminiti-to-heed-lesson-in-afl-striking-ban/ But is anyone going to advise Nathan Murphy to develop some more self-control? No. Pretty much standard throughout the defender industry. Just ask some forwards, ie Max King,...

Watch the incident without reading all the ‘opinion’ and all the background noise. Was it a brutal hit? It’s like he’s just pushing off the defender to try and get space. He didn’t swing an arm or throw a punch did he?? I realise now that I must have been looking at the wrong video of the incident....

St Kilda FC seem to be hopeless (for the last 2 decades) at fighting any charges laid against our players AFL wanted 5. We argued it down to 3. When and how often has St Kilda been able to achieve that in the past? This would a a very rare event in the Saints securing a lesser penalty. You also nee...

It is good to read passionate Saints supporters defending their player. Unfortunately for some that means low attacks on the "victim" based on nothing, just rubbish rumours and junk media. The cold hard facts will be all that is examined at the tribunal, and that indicates a poor reaction ...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Pies Round 5 2023

Collingwood are a 4 goal better side than Saints at the moment. Poor shooting for goal kept the Saints in it. They have a more practised system, more dangerous going forward, and smarter around the ball. It is only 5 weeks in, Saints are still bedding down their system, so there is a fair chance we...
