Re: Delisting retirements
I suspect we will have 6 spots open on the senior list- the two retirees (would love Lenny to change his mind!) and the following who will not be renewed:- TDL, Schneider, Jones and Dunnel. Weller has won a spot, Shenton too I suspect. Templeton to remain a rookie for next year. That leaves 4 senior...

Re: Adelaide Game
re hotels: the ground is virtually in the CBD, any of the north terrace hotels are only a 5 min walk, even staying in Glenelg at the end of the tram line leaves an easy trip there and back.

Re: Blessing In Disguise
So why add to the "irrational" by referring to years ago? Do you think Dempster would get a game in a side with Geary, Delaney, Gwilt, Webster, Fisher, Wright in the back line? If so, who would you prefer him to? And what of Roberton, Shenton and Simpkin? Time catches up with everyone, and...

Re: Blessing In Disguise
If you look back at game threads over the year the slow , defensive nature of our play out of our own back half has been noted over and over. Do I think as mentioned " Quote:if he was giving defensive kicks all year and the coaching panel didnt like it as it was agasint instructions, you reckon...

Re: Blessing In Disguise
I for one can see where Bernard is coming from, have said similar things to my sons about the safety first option in many of our defensive kicks. It is perhaps a little extreme to suggest this is all down to Dempster and may be more obvious this year as upfield options were limited but all should re...

Re: Let's get behind Tom Lee today
Lee is not a kid, number of AFL games aside. He may be able to get on the lead at VFL level but with the closer checking of the big league he cannot hold his marks and his ground game, whilst good is not why he is in the side. He cannot body players one on one, does not have the smarts to lead into ...

Re: Milera
Sadly, as I think the dropped chest mark at a critical time reminded me of Garletts two dropped marks (was it last week?), I think Terry just cannot take the body contact. Compare his effort to a recent effort by one J Selwood - running back with the flight, looking over his shoulder at the ball and...

Re: Saints v Wet Toast - Match Thread
Not all doom and gloom, better players were the kids, some of the older guys clearly not suited to the quicker game- jones, Gwilt, dempster, Ray - all tend to look sideways, backwards - going for the safe kick, clearly don't trust their disposal which is understandable but not suited to the modern g...

Re: Saints v Wet Toast - Match Thread
weller hard, good evasive skills, can use his body we'll and can take a grab; Delaney good judge of ball in flight, strong, quicker than he looks; savage putting in, cameo's only but possibilities;Webster, billings, longer, shenton, newnes all showing something. lee trying, milera not involved, gwil...

What a great ground!
I have lived in Adelaide now for 20 years. I had avoided going to the newly upgraded Adelaide oval until the Saints played here. No matter how the game ended, and the disappointment of watching a skillfull side make us look ordinary the new Adelaide oval is a great place to be. Standing on the hill ...

Re: Game Thread Saints v Pies
we have no pace- no room for players like Jones, Murdoch, Ross and now Schneider and Dempster. All want to play safe and slow. We have better players of their ilk- Lenny, Dunstan, Newnes, Shenton, and now Milera. We need players that can kick to space to give Roo and Stanley a chance to use their ad...

Re: Game Thread Saints v Pies
we should be looking at the next group that will make us contenders- Longer good, Shenton good, Newnes good, Siposs showing something but his kicking poor, Delaney and Bruce competitive, forget Ray, Jones, Schneider (sadly) and even dempster. Steven needs games, Billings unsighted, Dunstan too often...

Re: MRP has no idea
Agree. Both the Ablett and Hurley hits should be the type the league is trying to rule and penalise out of the game. The concussion stuff is flavour of the month and the hysteria will settle. Paralysis is always a risk in our game, even more now than in earlier eras as the attack on the ball is so m...

Re: MRP has no idea
I suspect we have all seen the clips of the unfortunatre NRL player who is now an incomplete quad. The mechanism- extreme neck flexion contributed to by the players positioning, body weight and the tackler. This sort of injury is rare in proper football. Any situation that could replicate this mecha...

Re: MRP has no idea
What else could he do????????? Well met him front on, having stopped and let his head hit his midriff, ie soft part of the body. Hurley was stopped in his tracks by the contact and propelled backwards by Hannebury's momentum. This is the minimum the rule should be preventing- front on head high stuf...
