I was there and saw a premiership hopes shattered. The following week Everitt does his collarbone.

Re: Thoughts on 2019
After attending more than a dozen 2018 games and watching on the box, I can only conclude we are a basket case. I can't see where the improvement is coming from next year. Our coaching last night seemed non-existent. For example our kick out strategy, it's a short kick to himself then a long bomb to...

Re: Big Boy McEVOY.
Tell me why we shipped him off to Hawthorn again? He could not run, waddled like a duck rocking from side to side. Some call it lumbering. He could not win a hitout because he was more intent on wrestling his opponent, never went for the ball. Hawthorn got him fit and has made him run. They have de...

Re: Pierce - Good game No 2
So Big Ben McEvoy had the better of Lewis last night. A 190 gamer against a 3 gamer, this is unexpected? Benny got taken to the cleaners in the 2010 GF replay against Collingwood and an experienced Jolley, he was a young ruckman thrown to the wolves so early in his career. Give Lewis a break for goo...

Good news indeed, finally after many years, some selection common sense, we aren't finals contenders so let's see how the potential new players perform. But give them more than one game please.

Re: 5 years Dan Hannebery?
Ridiculous. Too old. He will be 30 plus by the time,or if,we challenge for top 4. This club has absolutely zero idea. So would every other FA and expierenced player we trade for if that is your logic. Why even bother participating in the trade and FA agency periods then? Our club more than ever nee...

Re: 5 years Dan Hannebery?
Is our club losing the plot or getting caught up in media speculation. He is contracted until 2021. A bunch of used car salesmen from Sydney are attempting to off load a broken down Jaguar and trying to sell it off as a near new Aston Martin. Go shove it. We have created our own on field mess and it...

Re: Anyone know how Peirce went on Sat?....
We no choice, either we play Lewis or have Blake or Jake ruck for us again this Friday night against Essendon. Once Hickey went down against the Dogs we were shot and the players just gave up . Richo and the selection panel don't have a Plan B if a ruckman gets hurt during the game. Another failed m...

And dropped an absolute sitter in the Tigers forward during the third quarter which resulted in a vital goal to them. This reflected our terrible skill errors, including poor tackling against a mob who I thought we had taken the game up to at that stage.

Re: Can anyone remember a more bleak outlook than now ?
Remember 1985, we got smashed nearly week. Won three games and the wooden spoon. Acres in the ruck, what idiot thought of that move? Don't compare Richmond's tactics to the saints, they have heaps more skill than us and their confidence is sky high. Very hard to assess the game against the Hawks, th...

The miss from 35 out was mind boggling! Has to be all in his head. They ( Saint kilda players - not just Billings) always seem to run too close to the man on the mark - I don't get that - but you can see them doing it all the time - they always seem to forget he has gone back 2-3 steps from the mar...

Re: Team v Giants
Who was the selection genius who thought that we could go into the game with one ruckman? When Hickey had a rest, Acres went into the ruck. Brilliant strategy. The Giants have one of the best and quickest mid fields in the competition and we handed them easy clearances because of this flawed one ruc...

we're safe at moorabbin for now - too much expense in developing that and too much potential for the afl to jeopardise it in the short future. But paying out a two year contract won't be viewed well at all at afl house. we are in a quandarry. i get that management disn't want to risk another lyon e...

Re: Riewoldt: Seaford ‘crushed’ the playing group
surprised some are even arguing the point. the saints never wanted to go to seaford - their hand was forced. once that was that the spin began. make the best of a bad situation. that some people choose to keep believing the spin is baffling. the move has put this club back a long way in financial s...

Re: Pause for reflection
This deserves to be bumped. I agree, but why would Kelly or others commit to a club that is battling like we are at the moment. Our future lies with solid recruiting, using nearly draft picks wisely, and a positive coaching environment. We had stagnated this year and appear too easy to beat when th...

Re: Ok, Serious Coaching Thread
To put it bluntly, Richo doesn't get sacked now (esp given that they've extended his contract, but too early for mine) but he's on notice... He's been given a solid amount of time to rebuild and to be honest, for the most part, the trajectory has been good. Even this year when things have stagnated...

I'm interested to see if we roll the dice on Hickey. Despite probably Billy's best game of the year, Hickey's performance in the VFL combined with him having the wood on Gawn in the past few outings against the dees should get the selectors thinking. Gawn was BOG in the first round game this year, ...

Listened to Richo's post match. His comment that Longer was up against three Bulldog ruck men. Why did we select just one ruckman? Are we that dumb? Bloody hell we keep losing games at the selection table. So should have we selected Johnny or Piercey or both?? The modern game is about getting first...

Re: For what it's worth
The one ruckman selection policy is a massive fail. We were slaughtered all night around the ground, even at quarter time the hit out were 17 to 3. It was only a matter of time before Melbourne got the benefit of a superior ruck and boy did they use that advantage well.
